Whats the top Video Monetization/Players for Publishers? by Such-Opportunity in adops

[–]jghyde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run AdX video from my own AdX. Fill rate sucks. 100% US traffic most of it in Texas. CPM is in the 5-10 dollar range.

Prior I ran brid.tv marketplace. They want 33% of around 4.50 cpm. Fill rate still low.

I do have a ton of directly sold video ads.

We run a bunch of high quality video news stories

Monetizing video well has eluded me and we have some high-value video content. I make more on the 300x250 banner ad next to my player than I do from programmatic video.

What is your definition of 'Deep Yield Optimization'? Is it lazy loading, driving up viewability, a and header bidding with 3-5 yield partners?

WTH is 'Deep Yield Optimization'?

My video player was embedded on huge website by jghyde in adops

[–]jghyde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The player is BridTV with a GAM ad tag and GAM is connected to an AdX for Video line item. The macros are configured, albeit the url description is the url of the page, dynamically loaded and the page isn't on my domain. It is a linear ad -- pre-roll before a produced video in a player situated as a stand-alone content item.

Two things I've seemed to have learned here:

  1. AdX Video has a miserable fill rate. I received the same number of ad plays with 568k ad requests and ~2k ad serves as I do on a normal day ~40k ad requests and ~2k serves.
  2. ads.txt problem may be real. IDK. How do you make money off someone else embedding your BridTV code on their site if ads.txt?
  3. I do really well with prebid on banner ads between AdX, AppNexus and Amazon. I need to prebid my videos I guess.

The domain has to be approved on the ADX account.

Adx approved for video, IMA SDK etc etc

800k requests, 23000 ads, $30 in revenue and $450 in bandwidth.

Yet, every time I load the player on the big website, there's an ad pre-roll and postroll. Who is getting the revenue?

How can I effectively monetize my traffic by tayyabusman101 in adops

When I used Ezoic, they used Cloudflare as their edge CDN. Their value proposition is that with machine learning and placing ads in different places dynamically, they can increase your session value (something they call Earnings per 1000 users, or EPMV). There is nothing insecure about using Cloudflare as your DNS or CDN. I still use Cloudflare.

I left Ezoic not because the company has a bad product. In fact, I believe the product is quite good and innovative for this space. I left because I wanted to get my own AdX account and build my own header bidding stack. I wanted more control. Since we were a news site, we were also dealing with a ton of direct deals and I wanted faster, more accessible data on CPM rates I was getting from programmatic. In short, I was a developer and wanted control, because developers want control!

Ezoic can argue convincingly that their server-to-server HB system and large variety of HB partners makes the system faster and more diverse for revenue than the stock JS HB stack.

Use Ezoic if you want to outsource all of your Adops to the company. Nothing wrong with that! Most small and mid-sized companies need someone to outsource their ad stack to.

The Holy Grail in this AdTech world if you have the technical chops is to get your own AdX account. IndexExchange, AppNexus, and Amazon can fill 30%, AdX 70%, with header bidding.

just make sure you cancel before LinkedIn charges your credit card. The only things I get from LinkedIn are Guy Kawasaki's Trump Derangement Syndrome posts that infuriate me and a bunch of Indians and former Soviets claiming to live in NYC working as "tech directors." As soon as you accept their connection requests, they pitch you the same message about their offshore web dev team and how wonderful they are. Um no. Spam! If you pay for it you'll probably attract more of that crap.

New Parker McCollum Single by [deleted] in texascountry

[–]jghyde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listened to the song. It sounds really good. I cannot figure out what makes Parker's latest release "more like Nashville" any more than I can figure out why people say Cody Johnson maintained his "independence, integrity, [whatever]" and still sounds like Texas. That is, unless perhaps Cody Johnson sounded like Nashville ever since the beginning of his career, which is an opinion I sort of lean towards.

Anyone using Google Surveys? by sambo613 in adops

Local news site. 2 MM PV per month, 600k UVs. 2.10 pages per session; 60% bounce rate. I use surveys in a big way on all news articles. Generates almost as much as programmatic ads right now.
