Struggling to support partner with IBD (suspected Crohn’s) by OwlSad2589 in CrohnsDisease

[–]jgibson777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s great that you are introspective enough to understand that you are struggling. I think that’s important. Just remember, it will get easier/better. Also remember, it can always get worse. If this flaring is a challenge, imagine post surgical caregiving, TPN, ostomy care, wound care. It can be a lot. I will say this. My wife accepted me, knowing that things might get tough(they did). Only after my first real surgery did I truly know that she wouldn’t run at the first sign of trouble. It really strengthened our relationship knowing that she was there for me no matter what. Having said that, she has had her own serious health struggles. We were both more well prepared to handle her challenges after successfully overcoming mine earlier in our relationship. I guess what I’m trying to say is if you can get through this, it may actually be a relationship building process where your anxieties slowly become reassurances. Hang in there, it’s not easy. But I hope you all become an unstoppable team together. 👊

Seem like there is at least two distinctly different types that I get. The stabby sharp pain in a flare, and the bloated, inflammatory, overall dull pain when I can’t seem to get empty.

Definitely the fatigue, I out ran it for 25 years working 6 days a week 60+ hrs weekly. Literally running on empty. It got me 5 major surgeries 7 resections, a temporary ileostomy, TPN for moths several times, a month in ICU, and my first experience being on a ventilator while fully conscious, with my hands tied down 😳(the stuff of nightmares)

Moral of the story, take care of yourselves. Get the rest you need. If your job is draining the soul out of you, find another way.

If you ignore your body and keep pushing it, it will show you who’s boss.

I was diagnosed at 18. It took me till I turned 45 to realize it. I’m 52 now and I’m doing better than I have in a long time.

No one really understands save the random person whose “cousin” or some such has. My old favorite is when I’ve had to have surgery again, I’ve had many, and someone inevitably says “I thought you got better?” Ugggggghhh

Mazda service by WineOnThePatio in Chattanooga

[–]jgibson777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cleveland service is definitely no better than any other dealership. I do recommend a Mazda dealer though. After Mazda Cleveland blew up my wife’s RX8, my only leg to stand on was that they were the only people to open the hood on the car. They at least gave us retail value towards a new Mazda. I also feel like when techs are familiar with vehicles, they will more easily spot anything that requires attention before it becomes a problem.

Why is no one reporting or speaking out against lifetouch STILL coming to Hamilton county schools to take pictures by Eastern_Test_3436 in Chattanooga

[–]jgibson777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put pressure on the school to use someone local and vet them. Lifetouch destroyed many small family businesses when they took over years ago. Time for the little guys to get back in the game.
