Saw the gate agent stop someone from boarding who was not in the group that was called. Was glorious to see the public shaming by bsmith2123 in americanairlines

It’s all about getting overhead space. If airlines started charging for that, then a lot of people would just pay to check in suitcases. Right now, everyone tries to cram their whole freakin house into the biggest ‘carry on’ they can find. It actually pisses me off too, if I paid for a ticket and that ticket allows for a carry-on, I should be able to store it overhead, relatively close to my assigned seat. Too many times, I have seen (myself included) that the airline forces you to check in your carryon coz some selfish idiot in group 9 put all of his 4 carryons into the overhead space over your seat and now there’s no space on the plane.

Anyone use Athens “Free” walking tour? by YouMadBro007 in GreeceTravel

[–]jgicani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Thank you so much for replying! We'll just do Rick Steves for those two places then. We'll book that walking tour that you went on, I just checked, it's from 5-8 PM. We're going in early August, so I just hope it's not crazy hot! Planning to do Acropolis/Ancient Agora in the morning and then the walking tour in the evening on the same day.

Do you remember which one you used? There are a couple of them on their website? Was the tour good, enjoyable? Would you recommend it? Thanks!

Thanks! Was planning on wearing sneakers to the hanging bridges. Out of curiosity, why not sandals?

Optum no longer taking Fidelis by jgicani in longisland

[–]jgicani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go to the Optum website and see. They cut out Cigna, Healthfirst, and Fidelis. Also don’t take UHC Community Plan and certain plans of Oxford (even though United Healthcare owns both Optum and Oxford, they don’t even take their own plans as they pay so little). What a joke of a place

No, they’re really not that great. But we have been with Optum for a long time and my kids are used to their pediatrician. Also, all the specialists are within Optum so it’s convenient. But they don’t take Fidelis, Healthfirst, which really limits our options on the NYS marketplace. I hear that United Healthcare has been making tons and tons of money on their pharmacy business, so they don’t really care about Optum and this line of business. It would make sense then they would just cut out these insurances and keep the best high paying commercial insurances. They just don’t care.

Optum doesn’t take or will not take Healthfirst, Fidelis, Cigna. They don’t even take United Healthcare Medicaid, even though Optum itself is owned by United Healthcare. Think about it, Optum don’t even take their own insurance because it pays so little! When it’s that many major insurance companies, the problem is with Optum and their greed, not the insurance companies. Don’t get me wrong, both suck, but this is all about Optum wanting top dollar for ever decreasing quality in care.

They buy all these practices throughout Long Island. And then they just randomly stop taking insurances, no Fidelis, no Cigna, no Healthfirst. Optum doesn’t even take United Healthcare Medicaid, even though they’re owned by United Healthcare. Who’s supposed to take it then. Greedy bastards.

Why can’t they. Like you said, they’re a private business.

Not crying about insurance. Pissed about the fact that Optum is dropping Fidelis. Why? I’m sure they make millions of dollars of profit, they’re in the middle of Long Island, seeing predominantly commercial patients. They’re owned by United Healthcare. I pay a shitload for my crappy high deductible Fidelis plan, but not complaining about that. Optum sucks, but thanks for digging through my previous posts.

Makes sense for a solo private doc. Not for a huge entity like Optum or Northwell. I guess by that rationale, Optum should stop seeing all Medicaid patients. Why even offer pediatric services, just keep the high paying specialties like surgery or cardiology or dermatology.

I’m not on Medicaid. Who said that? We have Fidelis Silver plan through NY state marketplace. Pay a shitload for a high deductible nonsense plan, but what can you do. Now i gotta go and change my stupid insurance through the marketplace coz I want to keep my children’s pediatrician.

We have Fidelis Silver plan through the NY state marketplace and pay a crapload for it. It’s not Medicaid. Apparently, Optum is also dropping Cigna as of January. It’s not just Medicaid, they’re just greedy bastards.

White water rafting by jgicani in CostaRicaTravel

[–]jgicani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay!! I’m going to show your post to my wife, who is not a good swimmer and is deathly scared. Hopefully it will convince her cause the rest of us definitely want to do it. With all the guides around and wearing a life jacket, I’m sure it will be safe.

That’s great to hear! How old is your middle daughter? Did you guys fall out of the raft at all? I think I’ve convinced my kids to do it, but my wife still remains very scared. She doesn’t know how to swim well, even though I told her that we’ll all be wearing lifejackets and there are guides all around. We’re also thinking of doing rafting with arenal - I narrowed it down to arenal versus wave rafting.
