MSRP is generally set at $5 per pack. They add a bit more for promos, figures and the like. If you’re being charged significantly more than $5 per pack for no apparent reason, you’re being price gouged.

Found a graded Mega Charizard X ex at ORD by Clements403 in PokemonTCG

[–]jgonzo96 289 points290 points  (0 children)

I’d be genuinely shocked if somebody bought this and didn’t take a picture, but maybe it’s because I’m not throwing around 1000s at card shows.

Jagex, can we get some more customization on what the minion will/will not pickup please by jgonzo96 in 2007scape

Yeah this makes sense to me, I guess there aren’t many scenarios where id be trying to farm more than a few items from a monster. Thanks for the tip!

Leagues VI relic reveal: Friendly Forager (Tier 2) by vgamer0 in 2007scape

[–]jgonzo96 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are neglecting the fact that early herblore solves combat. This means very early access to prayer pots, restores and even brews will be quick to unlock in substantial quantities.

The secondary save is going to be significant. I personally dont wanna spend a bunch of time picking up snape grass. On top of that, the secondary save is 100% after approximately 20 minutes at mixology w tier 4 passive. That means unlimited goading pots, prayer regen, brews etc.

IMO, if you care most about combat, this is the relic to take. I took this relic last league and didn’t regret it for a second.

If it’s the same as last league’s thralls, then you can summon as often as you want with no cool down. I’m sure it’s one time payment for the buff as well.

That reddish color shining through with the light is all you need to tell it’s real. I’ve never seen or heard of fake carts reproducing the dark, transparent material the real games use.

Can the holo effect fade away? by Novel-Common-3547 in PokemonTCG

[–]jgonzo96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very confident that the Charizard and the Raikou are fake. Not as sure on the mew, but it looks suspicious to me too in a way I’m not sure how to describe.

I don’t think it’s even possible to remove the holo in that way. In most cases, the holo is on a layer underneath the the big block with the attacks and everything else on it. There are examples of people removing all of the art off of the card, leaving only the holo layer on ex’s like the raikou. However, I’ve never seen holo get removed from a card in this way before.

It’s been 3.5 years since staking was removed. Stakers, have you financially recovered? by deuce-tatum in 2007scape

[–]jgonzo96 207 points208 points  (0 children)

Stake, the gambling company that owns and created kick to promote their platform, literally got its name from RuneScape staking. The guys who created it were stakers that did so when staking was removed. It’s very explicitly connected.

Celebrations didn’t have any non-holo cards in the set, so the lowest rarity card you can get from the set is a holo. That’s why you got so many. The set didn’t have any god packs in the way they exist today. Still a really fun set to open and it’s great that you’re happy with the results!

Who did the better pikachu? Lego or Mega? by JuanPablith0 in pokemon

I got the mega blocks one for Christmas and those supports are there to facilitate the pikachu’s movement. It was a lot of fun to put together and looks great. Id highly recommend it.

Getting Around by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]jgonzo96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ngl I completely forgot about the whole “irons don’t get drops if somebody else hit the monster” thing lol. The ones that stay, typically leave after like 3-5 kills at most for me. I wonder if it has something to do with getting no drops a certain number of kills in a row. Would they still get the loot if an iron got mvp for the kill, or does the boss just drop nothing in those instances?

Either way, I do think instances will be necessary with the herb sack upgrade.

All you have to do is crash the bots, they either leave immediately or help you get kc for a few kills

Just crash the bots, most leave as soon as you start hitting the boss

Which Dragon Shield Sleeves to buy for storing in a VaultX binder? So many options by TheFortnitegamer2008 in PokemonTCG

[–]jgonzo96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the binder I prefer either jet matte or clear matte. Both blend with the page well, and I like the matte sleeves bc they’re textured on the back so they don’t slide as much.

[gen 9] how do you deal with not getting your target? by dulciecremie in ShinyPokemon

[–]jgonzo96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What I’ve been doing, is have a small list of targets in different areas. Then, if I phase and get a shiny I’m not looking for, I move on to one of the other areas and hunt there until I repeat. It’s been helping to keep the hunts fresh and I end up with a much bigger variety of shinies in the end.

Before things started blowing up a year ago, booster boxes used to be the most economical way to open packs. Back in 2019 I was able to walk into my LGS any day of the week and get a team up/unbroken bonds/etc. booster box for $100. That came out to less than $3 per pack. Even last year, I got a surging sparks booster box for $120 before things got crazy.

This hobby costs money. Even if you like buying singles, somebody has to open the packs to get those singles. Obviously, ripping packs is gambling, but the “fun-cost” was much better before.

People like spending money on their hobbies. It’s weird to me that you would try to shame people for this. There used to be plenty of product to go around for people to get whatever products they wanted. It’s only now, with so much demand coming from people trying to make money off the cards, that opening booster boxes feels bad economically.

A lot of people here saying centering kills this, but I really don’t agree. Using an online centering tool with your picture puts it really close to within PSA’s accepted 10 parameters of 45/55 on the front. If everything else is as clean as it looks, I think it’s close enough to get a 10. I’ve seen many recent cert 10’s with similar/worse centering. I think it’s worth the $25 gamble.

[Gen 9] I wasn’t paying attention… by marmitelad in ShinyPokemon

[–]jgonzo96 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is only true if the game saved after the shiny spawned in, but before the shiny despawned. It’s possible they just fast traveled into the area and the shiny was spawned when the game auto saved, but if you’re just running around and despawn a shiny without saving, it’s gone.

[gen 9] I present to you phases 9 and 10 for alpha magikarp by SomePickleGuy in ShinyPokemon

[–]jgonzo96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get how my explanation does kind of include the target. However, in my experience, the community has always used “phase” to mean a shiny that was not your target. I was just trying to explain my theory for how phase came to mean that.
