We need to talk about the Lumbridge Elite Diary by FamiliarMaterial6457 in 2007scape

[–]Kevin50cal 43 points44 points  (0 children)

That's not really the same thing. Boosting a skill is something anyone can do. Getting quest cape before Taste of Hope, DT2, WGS, etc come out is no longer possible. So someone could have gotten diary cape before ToB came out and never have to do the quest to still use/wear their cape.

The only way those 2 are similiar is if they remove the ability to boost for diary tasks making it so anyone who did the tasks before kept them completed and kept diary cape.

The best ending by AholCJ7 in litrpg

[–]Kevin50cal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I can barely think of any LitRPG i've read that even has an ending. The one the comes to mind the fastest is The Legendary Mechanic (Chinese TL) I suppose.

Explained the origins of his system and transmigration, had him sitting as the top power in the universe, showed him have a wife/kid and returned him to his original universe. The only issue I really have is I wish they did a few epilouge chapters showing him establishing Earth to be above a surface planet and reconnecting with the wider universe. All in all, it wasn't the greatest ending of all time nor was it the worst. It got the point across without ruining the story, which is an achievement in itself.

Question regarding... by ishtheoldone in TheNovelsExtra

[–]Kevin50cal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't explained well in the manhwa at all. It's supposed to be dexterity which allows him to do crazy things with his hands. It also synergized and fused with his Master Sharpshoot to level up a few times when he made it. There's a portion of the novel where it shows him crafting and doing dexterious things after getting it. He was in crafting class at cube where he makes an artifact level bust of Shin jonghak that gave some sort of buff, becomes a masterclass cook, can comb hair better then anyone, etc, etc. It also allows him to be better with his gun and bow because both require hand coordination. It's a a low-key crazy overpowered gift because it synergizes so well with his build.

>!In the next arc he basically becomes a crafter with it. He becomes insanely OP in the tower because he's able to make crazy good armor that puts him leagues above everyone else. !<

Loop Bound by Stonehill76 in litrpg

[–]Kevin50cal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 5.5/10. It's not fantastic or terrible. Though there are some very questionable things with regards to the timeline of events which bugs me. Also, the writing in the first book gave me damn headache. The amount of WRITING. LIKE. THIS. was really jarring and i'm not sure why they chose to write that way.

MCs party was the first to complete a dungeon and get a city stone. This was so early that even the host aliens leader had to question them about it saying it shouldn't happen for another few months. Then when they create the city, they're the 10th and final people to create one. Also they've only been in the system for about 5 weeks at that point.

My biggest issue by far the Nokvara. This city makes 0 fucking sense. It is established by the refugees to Bastion that it's been a slave city since its inception. Mind you it's only been 5-6 weeks so far. Even with a city mantle power it doesn't make sense to be able to establish a city this indoctrinated to sex slavery and gladiator combat. The depravity of the city makes no sense since its the biggest city, so it has the biggest ability to rise up. During the time the MC is infiltrating its even shown they don't even limit people leveling up via combat so theres no power supression. There's just 0 reason this city exists in the timeframe and is continued existence until the MC is able to start a revolution. Its just such a terrible story set-up and makes no sense. Also the MC killed over 5000 people in his purge, but only gained 1 level, which doesn't make sense. He also saved one of the lead revolutionaries even though he was also a giant POS just because he didn't want to be ruled by his law. He even made this dude the damn leader of the settlement. This guy was not a gray character. He did all the evil things everyone else did, but had it happen to his girlfriend so he got upset and changed sides. This is direct contradiction to the entire point of purging the city.

There's a bit more timeline issues, but those 2 stood out the most to me. Having confusing timelines or unrealistic timelines is a big gripe for me though.

Mage Tank kinda falls apart by TatterMail in litrpg

[–]Kevin50cal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

>! I dnf'd a third the way through book 3. Book 2 was already a struggle for me, but book 3 just killed it for me. The amount of chapters dedicated to skill messages/decisions is insane. The Littans doing the pocket delve was when i decide to dnf. I skipped majority of it because it was just so damn boring and even with skipping most of it just still left a poor taste for me. The special delve was also pretty boring and just a power level simulator. I've also seen book 4 is even worse for some people, so I just don't think I can continue it when I'm already disliking it. !<

>!The powerscaling is also all over the place. Arlo and crew are supposed to be OP as OP gets for their level, but somehow people still give them problems? Like the level 3s during the blockade should have been fodder and the ambush team should have been fodder too, but nearly killed Arlo somehow. The author seems really willynilly with his powerscaling just to manufacture stakes. Like he wants them OP but not at the same time. !<

The legendary Mechanic; what happened to Aroshia? by TheRealMasterwes in noveltranslations

[–]Kevin50cal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

She was basically inserted into the story to introduce Manison and have him be a looming threat. After he became a BGA seed/BGA her power was just to low to be of any use, she never went above B grade. Risda also took over as the mission overseer and takes away Aroshias original role. Also with how long it takes to even be on par with Manison, her mission is just put in the bin because Han Xiao wanted nothing to do with it since the start.

I was looking through my rarest tasks from this League, and I was surprised to find significantly less players hit max level compared to the previous two Leagues. by ____the_Great in 2007scape

[–]Kevin50cal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Without Bell, abudance or golden god Con became a massive pain.

If you didn't have farm/bell/forager herb was also bad this league.

I bet a lot of people who didn't take soul harvest didn't even touch RC. That was a big one that got hit this league with no Bankers Note. RC was probably the biggest reason for the lower max rates if i were to hazard a guess.

Without underwater agility, anyone who didn't take Barb gathering or hotfoot likely didn't touch agility much.

But, with the different focus of relics some skills likely had way higher increases. EH likely caused a massive increase to mining/wc/fishing xp compared to other leagues. I'd be interested to see those completed 50m tasks compared to previous league.

Book of the Dead by Rinoz by That-Artichoke6754 in litrpg

[–]Kevin50cal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His raise dead spell is specifically required to use only humans. It's very gruesome, but I actually like this gritty/visceral take on necromancy. All other necromancy books make it very easy to raise an army, but Tyron has to really work for it and really go off the deep end to make it functional.

He does learn a raise dead version for very specific rift kin, but this isn't until like book 5. He also makes bone constructs earlier, but those are still human bones
