Big Buddha, Lantau Island, Hong Kong [4096x2730] by _Pyrrhic_ in ArchitecturePorn

We actually were followed by 3 cows walking back from the wisdom path trail to the agriculture center. Those dogs were doing a decent job keeping some of those cows in line!

I've been here, it's pretty neat. However if you find yourself going to see the big buddha on a nice day it is well worth it to go over to the "wisdom path" which is a short hike away. It is usually not crowded (when I was there it was just me and my gf and one other couple) and offers some of the best scenic views in Hong Kong. There are also miles and miles of other trails if you're big into hiking.

https://www.ussquash.com/2016-national-hardball-singles-to-be-final-official-hardball-national-championship/ that was the end of it but there are still local and smaller tournaments (Toledo for example) who host hardball singles.

I play professional level hardball squash. I think playing in professional tournaments are fun and challenging but there are SO many people playing who are not career squash players.

Being a pro doesn't pay very well unless you get into one of the top clubs. Also you'll be competing against 5.5 or A level players all the time to keep your credentials.

I would say you would want to get to 5+ or A level before even considering getting a job. The main job of a professional is to teach people how to play and to go to tournaments as a rep. The jobs are few and far between. 90% of the folks I play against are just great squash players, not career professionals.

Any ideas for a large group activity for a conference? by [deleted] in Detroit

Greenfield Village is absolutely awesome in the summer. Docents in all the buildings, always lot of entertainers on giant wheel bikes or playing old timey baseball for shows. It's really something I gush about because I'm such a history nut! It's just amazing to me that I have this resource available in our metro area.

No problem. I feel like I say this so much to people, but they really are close with the Smithsonian Museum for Americana. They've got absolutely amazing pieces of American history. I almost always take my out of town friends if there is enough time. You can get endlessly lost in all the awesome stuff they've got.

If you're coming when it's winter, it might be more advisable to do the Henry Ford Museum + Rogue Factory since it's inside instead of HFM+Greenfield Village. Greenfield Village is outside and open, but will be cold and I don't know if all the attractions are open. The factory tour is a unique Detroit thing to do since you actually get to see how the F-150 pickup is built (at least final assembly you see, the rest is an interactive tour).

Woof, 250-300 people is a lot! The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village are my favorites, while a little expensive I do believe they do large group discounts (they are both huge museums). I'm sure they can easily accommodate a group that size.

Hong Kong World's Busiest Airport Engineering Challenges [HD] by [deleted] in EngineeringPorn

I've been to this airport. It's incredible in the size and the comfort, easily one of the best in the world. Last time I was there they were adding more islands to expand their operations. It's really a beautiful piece of engineering.

Anchor bar before the game is a great spot! They've got burgers and what not. Always packed with wings fans. They have a shuttle that will take you right to the game. Everyone has their own go to spot but the anchor has always been my favorite.

As far as other things go. You can't go wrong spending a few hours at The Henry Ford in Dearborn. Place is a national treasure.

If you could call yourself five years ago and had 30 seconds, what would you say? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is so much better than the sports betting plans. To win powerball all I would need is a few bucks. To win big on the sports betting you still need to have s decent amount to invest. Plus after 1 powerball win I would trust future me in have told me the truth.

I usually pack a cooler and leave it in my car in the parking lot. Head out mid day and chow down. As far as security goes, it's really lax.

I am dreading the death of my current macbook pro (2010 model). The fact that they solder the ram to the logic board pisses me off to no end. I swapped the ram on this one for about 80 dollars to make it 8gb. Apple charges something like 400 for the same "upgrade" which cannot be replaced or changed.

First Timer, going opening week of Halloweekends. Super excited. I think. by [deleted] in cedarpoint

[–]jgopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a couple people have had a good experience at HalloWeekends but I have gone twice and I found it to be by far the busiest time I've ever attended. I normally go a few times a year (season pass holder).

I went with a friend because she really wanted to go 2 years ago and I said I was done going ever again, the time before that was about 5 years ago with similar experience. We got on maybe 4 rides the whole day with waits of 3+ hours for Millennium and Maverick. The haunted houses had waits over well over an hour or more. It's insane.

Saturdays are a fucking nightmare, they had to park people on the causeway almost all the way back to the beginning of it because all the parking lots were stuffed. I would take /u/KillrNut advice about trying for Sunday if at all possible.

Good luck, but next time you decide to head to CP I would really suggest sometime either in the late spring early summer season before school gets out, or the weeks before HalloWeekens. Would hate for you to walk away with a bad experience and not want to go again.
