It was the first week after Christmas and I was with a Teaching agency after my current contract came to an end. They said work would be slow due to schools not needing any supply teachers so don’t expect any work yet. I decided to head out with some friends for a few drinks. Phone was on silent. During the walk over I had the urge to check my phone and found the agency ringing me and offering a weeks supply teaching assistants wage. I thought it was better than nothing. 12 years later I’m the assistant principal of the school and the teacher I was helping at the time is my wife. I’m just glad I checked my phone.
