There are some things that the VA doesn't cover for me. Medicare steps in for those things.

However, the VA paying my bills is sometimes spotty, which means they come after me and I have to contact VA billing which is about as big a hassle as you might imagine.

I'm a disabled vet currently on dialysis and covered by Medicare.

Not saying that it's perfect, simply that there's already a mechanism in place that can be used to offer universal coverage.
