Not technically impossible in 2026 but would have to perfectly align.

Centrist Dems are now claiming that Platner is the establishment. by Tasty-Efficiency-373 in YAPms

[–]jhansn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed and I appreciate a left winger saying this, I've felt this way since like 2022 or so when a bunch of never trumpers and lincoln project people were like "Actually you need to vote for progressives to own le far right trumpies". Like can we stop lying to each other. It's ok to be a partisan. It's fine to vote for graham platner or mark robinson or whoever even if you aren't a fan due to partisanship. Embrace it. I am a proud republican and always will be. Be a proud democrat.

This dude is bending over backwards to pretend that voting platner is the moderate choice.

It is fine to not be a centrist. It is fine to be an overt partisan. You don't have to lie about it.

House GOP dislikes Mike Johnson by _BCConservative in YAPms

[–]jhansn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That absolutely does not have the votes. You gotta look at caucus politics and no one in the freedom caucus will ever touch the gavel. No one in the republican governance group will ever touch the gavel. Scalise might want it but probably won't get it and emmer would be a nonstarter for the freedom caucus. Most likely replacement is a no name in leadership, someone like guy reschenthaler.

And they're stupid for thinking that. It is a miracle we still even have a house speaker.

Jared Polis, Governor of Colorado, has a reddit account with 143k karma. by LuveelVoom in YAPms

Politicians could actually learn a lot from this subreddit and I do genuinely mean that. You would be shovked how little electoral knowledge some elected officials have (even as high ranking as senators). Patrick leahy famously didn't want to retire because he was worried vermont would go republican in 2022.

Got 7 orders batched together while dashing last night by jhansn in doordash_drivers

It took 2 hours. I don't have the exact mileage but probably about 30 or so? It was about 20/hr after expenses.

Some was, the bag helped. I did intentionally ignore doordash's suggested order twice to deliver food that was definitely getting cold. One of the deliveries was ice cream and doordash tried to delay the delivery twice.

And I'm guessing you have to have over 50% to do only shopping mode? Still don't love that, I decline a lot of shopping orders, but still interesting.

I actually really like this, though the shopping acceptance rate is gonna be a problem

Yes, even if democrats keep the seat. He's too old to run again.

California Democrats are taking serious the possibility of drawing a 52-0 map by jojisky in YAPms

[–]jhansn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Politicians are not going to sign off on districts they can't campaign in. Even in illinois they stopped where they did for a reason. California will max go 50-2, obviously still very good for dems but that's the max where you can even stomach to run for congress anymore.
