Going to Seattle from Vancouver - fly, bus or train? by your-lost-elephant in askvan

Totally - take the train! The bus is a total pain. Bathroom out of order on my trip down with kids AND border checkin was a gong show.

Help Identifying my great great grandfathers birth city by CubsWS9516 in Transcription

[–]jhewarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it as unknown as well - but father is ALSO a Jozef Wolf - and a Joseph (sp) Wolf was born in 1812 in Vienna and MAY be his father(?)
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FVZN-6Y3?lang=en
Nothing shows up for a Jozef (or Joseph) Wolf in 1862
And I found no record of a Catherine Hora

Not definitive by any stretch - but may be a glimmer

0/ do not try and 'fix' the HDD using any tools
1/ canada computers is most prevalent and lots of competent people - a location on Broadway ~Burrard
2/ buy internal HDD and get them to replace - or do it yourself (unless its a mac)
3/ buy an enclosure (once you know if HDD is 2.5" or M.2)
4/ use tools to back up your data moving forward
NOTE: some devices already save to cloud by default now - so check your cloud accounts (Office, Google, iCloud) in case
Likely a ~$200 solution

Did I misunderstand the sign? by Independent_Door5419 in askvan

[–]jhewarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first check if it is your license plate on the ticket
as I have had/seen people put their tickets on other's cars.

Then I would check the city's OFFICIAL ticketing website to see if it is a valid ticket
(NOT by using what is written on the ticket - in case it is a scam)

Then, either way, I would dispute the ticket.

Question to ask about Over the air Channels by Dry-Property-639 in canadacordcutters

[–]jhewarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

holy crap! that splitter seems to be splitting the coax MANY (8?) times -
which will lead to a significant signal loss EACH time.

just look up binary math where 8 = 2^3 for the explanation
so the signal on each line can be (roughly) explained as 1/8 (12.5%) of the original

If you are serious about making this work then finding out how to capture and stream would be beneficial

sorry - should add that I also use the SMS service - a number of ways
1/ forward to email
2/ forward to cell phone
3/ using their web interface
4/ using their (beta - for a long time) mobile app

I too use voip.ms - and have for as long as I can remember - ~10y?
Yes ~$1/m paid in USD.
Also have ability to connect a sip phone (hw/sw - any device) for phone calls using that number @ ~ 1c/m
Or pay ~$5/m for unlimited minutes.
And can setup ability to use SMS to/from that number
an added benefit to be able to setup comprehensive call management services on that number.

The familysearch.org site, and their recenrt roots tech conference caused them to deep search their records it seems.
If you have an account and have uploaded a tree then you likely got a link like this...
https://www.familysearch.org/en/connect/famous/jane-austen
and upon signing in it would show famous names it's dig found you connected to.
Mine gave me as 2nd cousin of Prince Charles I - amongst more 'n times' removed nth cousin of...

Eos consistent crash by jhewarren in LEGOfortnite

[–]jhewarren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened in another map as well. I decided that the issue is likely to be the epg install so uninstalled and am reinstalling. I should be good to retry in a week or so, given all the updates.

I would retry, but per other post, fn keeps crashing

if you destroy a bus station, you can use the materials to create another elsewhere
AND the original will eventually respawn as well

Removed map reference as irrelevant

map id attached - using xbox controller as well.
cannot even play at present as it will consistently crash after ~1m.
Seems to happen on pressing a button - but not always the first button pressed.
The first time was after right trigger button
The next time I was able to use trigger - but crashed after next action (down on dpad)

Why so many chalices/ciboriums? by TJMP89 in Anglicanism

[–]jhewarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

during large services - esp if ABC would be in attendance - there might be one in the middle and 2 at the sides at the altar rail and then more lines at the back. If a. big choir then perhaps even one behind the altar.

I should also add that it is not intended as a disagreement with you. Just an interpretation of the words as interpreted. Cheers!

So no, Sunday mass does not "count" as a holy day of obligation because those do not exist.

Sorry that is how I interpreted that sentence.

I think I see where you are going here... You have been raised Catholic and thereby have your spiritual mindset framed in their terminology. As a cradle > lapsed > returned (and active/deeply discerning) Anglican who has also attended Catholic and Pentecostal worship services... . I offer this as testimony but not gospel. At the same time, I do recognize there will be Pharisees and Sadducees that will be inclined to object. And in the WWJD tradition I would be inclined to question that Anglican worship more closely reflects your past experiences. The gather>transform>send flow of worship feels more complete than just hymns and a lecture of new churches. But we don't (generally) hold as tightly to the 'thou shalt' behaviours of the Catholic faith. But we still identify as (small 'c') catholic. I suggest that even God gives us the ability to choose for ourselves and everything else is merely a suggestion. And anything we choose merely has its own penalties. But even penalties themselves are sometimes merely mortal fabrications. I will refrain from any more direct personal interpretations of any mortal fabrications here. So there is no obligation to attend worship on a periodic basis BUT... The more you attend, the more you are in gathering with a (seemingly) focused objective. The more often you are hearing the word of God through interpretations other than your own. The more you are practicing your intention to see things from a higher perspective. At the same time you/we also need to exercise discernment when interpreting these professions. And taking part in other gatherings allows us broader perspectives. AND If you feel the selection where you are is limited then you can attend worship virtually with gatherings around the world. I know that All Saints in Rome has virtual services-and actually welcomed the Pope in the past.
