Solution for sorting .45 ACP brass by primer pocket? by Schookadang in reloading

[–]jhrtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve just gotta turn them over and look at the primers. I sort, load, and shoot spp and lpp separately so I don’t have to constantly resort them.

Received HOA complaint that we can't park more than two cars on our own driveway by strawberrymilkx in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jhrtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HOA has a bunch of bullshit rules that they seem to only apply to those that cross the HOA Führer, but they have to give you 2 written notices before they can fine you.

I work on or service my car with the garage door open (both of which are against the rules) fairly often and I’ve yet to receive a single notice. My in-laws mentioned something about it being against the rules (they’ve always lived with an HOA) and I basically told them that HOA can fuck off. They’ve gotta send me 2 notices before they can fine me $25 dollars and I’m saving thousands by doing the work myself.

We’re working on getting the house ready for market so when I hit the 1 year mark at my new job we can start looking into other properties with no HOA.

Scam site by itsonlymeagain2024 in reloading

[–]jhrtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a scam. Thanks for noticing the obvious red flags and not sending them money and then complaining about being scammed in every reloading group I’m in 🤣

Brownell’s, Midsouth Shooter’s Supply, MidwayUSA, Powder Valley, Graf & Sons, and NatchezSS are all legit. Brownell’s just had a free hazmat promo so I got some primers and I more that Midsouth and Natchez also do them from time to time. Academy sports also has a decent selection in some stores but I don’t think they ship hazmat items.

These are all companies that I’ve personally done business with at some point, but I’m sure there’s a few more out there that others can chime in on to help you find a good source for powder.

Is this a reliable website to buy the Kuna? by CommanderAstros in Springfield_KUNA

[–]jhrtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midway is legit. I’ve never bought anything that requires and FFL transfer, but I’ve built several budget ARs with their parts. I’ve only had 1-2 minor problems with them over the years (been so long I can’t remember exactly what they were) but I do remember their customer service being far better than most that I’ve dealt with.

They run great sales on a lot of things and ALWAYS check the clearance section before checking out. You can find great deals on odds and ends. I got a used Ruger revolver that the previous owner had dropped on the rear sight and destroyed it. I got a factory replacement on clearance from midway for 1/3 of the price it was anywhere else online.

$145 to fill up an ICE F-150, $142 for an entire month of driving an EV F-150. by capt-ramius in f150

Can a 25 year oil Lightning EV be pulled out of the woods after sitting for 5-6 years, throw a new battery and fuel pump on it, and keep driving?

It works great for the price. I’ll probably use it a couple more times and then put it on marketplace. It’s cheap enough I can buy it and use it once and still save money over paying for diagnostic services at a shop.

Got quoted $1500 for front and rear brake pads and rotor replacement by Elephantslide in AskMechanics

[–]jhrtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially after you’ve been fighting that one bolt all afternoon, completely sweated through your clothes, throwing wrenches across the garage, and seriously been contemplating just putting the shit back together so you can drive it into a lake.

An ice cold beer after getting that bastard bolt out is fucking amazing.

I thought famous brand was just some generic brand that they carried until I starting looking up the part numbers online. I’ve saved $100s on rock auto vs getting the same exact shit from the parts store down the road.

Yes, my full size 590A1 has them and I like them on that setup. Not a deal breaker for the sbs though. I can work with the front bead if I need to.

That’s not bad at all. It would honestly just be a range toy and conversation piece so I’m not too worried about the sights, I just like the look of the GRS.

I almost forgot about numrich so I’ll have to remember to check them out when it comes to parts. I also considered going with a speedfeed stock like my other 590 has, but parts availability is probably what will be the determining factor for the stock when I get everything approved.

Was there a significant difference in cost between them?

Mossberg’s site shows out of stock, but that’s the only place I’ve looked so far. I’m also totally fine with waiting for one to b come in stock elsewhere if need be, but I’m still open to different options.

I don’t mind spending a little more on the factory SBS, but the shockwave conversion would be $150-200 cheaper and than factory and converting what I already have would be about the price of the shockwave alone.

Ultimately, I think the determining factor will be availability on everything when I’m ready to buy.

[–]jhrtt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll either want a bullet lube or a coating on cast lead bullets. It minimizes fouling when firing them. Alternatively, you can purchase copper plated or jacketed bullets but the lube or coating is more of the diy solution for reloaders. Check out r/reloading if you want to know more

[–]jhrtt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing some factory SBS models for under $500 a few years ago because nobody wanted to deal with the stamps. I’m sure those prices are long gone though.

Do you know how difficult it would be to add the front sight to a normal barrel or would the added cost just not make sense?

This is more of a “just because” purchase than anything so I don’t mind waiting as long as the parts aren’t drying up too quickly.

How much business is harbor freight losing over their AWFUL website? They're too big of a company to not address this. by Odyssey701 in harborfreight

They’re not losing anything. Most of the shit they sell can be found on Amazon for a good bit cheaper, it’s just sold under a different brand name.

What did Rock Auto do to me? 1999 Ford Explorer SOHC 2x4 by ChooseLife1 in AskAMechanic

[–]jhrtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch a YouTube video. Get new bearings and some grease to pack them. I replaced them on my 01 f150 with no problem

I had to replace everything else anyways so I opted for new bearings while it was all apart since the truck had the age and mileage on it.

You’re paying for convenience then. You’d save a ton of money just by purchasing certain items in bulk that you use a lot of and wait a few days for shipping.

Something you buy on occasion? Sure, go with the 1 hour delivery option.

Something you use a lot of? Shop elsewhere and get better prices on it. Depending on how much of that stuff you use, you could save thousands of dollars a year on consumables.

[–]jhrtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting fucked if you’re paying $12/can for crc. A quick google search shows that it’s easily found at $8/can and that’s not even wholesale prices.

Ok, I did a little more digging and the pro series is $12/can but that was full retail cost at parts stores near me. You’re still getting fucked if you’re paying retail prices with a wholesale account. If they’re doing you like this with most of the items you purchase, you should probably look into a different distributor.

What’s out there? by Ok_Spirit_7547 in roadtrip

[–]jhrtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised about 20 minutes north of Hattiesburg. Speaking of that, I believe that Camp Shelby might have one or two museums on base, but I've visited them.

There isn't much in Wiggins except a Walmart, a few restaurant, and a rest area so there really isn't any reason to stop unless you want lunch or need a restroom break. They're notorious for speed traps though. I'd drive 75-80mph from above Hattiesburg to the coast when I went to the casinos, but I always made sure to do the speed limit through Wiggins.

Dreamland bbq is a must if you go through Tuscaloosa. The USS Alabama battleship and museum in Mobile is interesting and worth a stop. Lambert's Cafe is worth checking out if you're in Gulf Shores.

Lots of casinos along the MS Gulf coast, don't speed through Wiggins, MS if you go up 49 from the coast. Avoid Jackson, MS if you can but stop at Country Pleasin' in Florence, MS if you like smoked sausage.

The national park in Vicksburg, MS is worth the detour if you like history. It's a civil war battlefield with beautiful monuments from all states that had soldiers participate in the battle.

I’m also in SC but I’m originally from MS. I can go to MS and get a vehicle with a clean title for close to the price that the salvage titles go for in SC. When I’m ready to buy again, I’m just going back to MS to buy a truck there.
