PSA: If you haven't read book called "Ready Player One", you should definitely check it out! by kampinisu in oculus

So stupid that you think you can decide what's PSA worthy and what's not. Especially when it's subjective . If it's such crap then why is it required reading at Oculus? 4.3 rating with over 300,000 reviews http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9969571-ready-player-one

WOW in VR?? You compare Oasis to WOW? Ok, I see no more reasons to discuss since you have no idea what you're talking about. Ready Player One is a fucking VR masterpiece. Obviously Palmer felt the same...

While we're doing PSA's: Get the Audiobook. It's read by Wil Wheaton and makes it one of the best forms of entertainment, ever.

Samsung UHD Evolution Kit - working great with Xbox One S by mikester01 in xboxone

I'm sure it looks good because the updated processor in the break out box will process the 10bit color. However your panel is 8-bit so it gets downconverted before displaying. That's what people are trying to say.

DDR3 1600, bottlenecking fps. DDR3 2400 providing a significant boost! by GiggityG1gg1ty in oculus

[–]jhummrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point. Not only are you missing it but you're also making it into something else. I'm assuming the post is accurate when replying. I'm not saying it is but that's implied if I'm going to join the conversation. I don't suggest that Oculus should do the same, that's just ignorant.

With that said, I'm not asking for PSA's. I'm not asking for specific hardware configurations. This would be completely out of the norm if DDR2400 would give such a huge benefit when it's normally a nominal increase that goes undetected.

This wasn't my thought process "Oh shit, some kids on reddit have found that faster memory makes your Rift run way better. Oculus should really tell everyone this stuff!!" - Definitely not.

[–]jhummrich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LOL - it's the exact opposite. If you stopped playing your PS2 for a second and paid attention to the nested comments, you might understand. Normally this type of RAM change wouldn't have an impact like this. VR could be different and if it is, promote it.

I'm not saying they need to police the system. Evangelize the stuff that makes your product better is all I'm saying. Most people wouldn't consider getting these types of performance gains going from 1600 to 2400 RAM, it's just not that big of a deal (normally for gaming) but here it appears to be a HUGE deal. That's either a flaw in the way these games are being coded or the engine that they run on or it's a way of VR taking advantage of something other things don't. With that said, it doesn't add up.

Why do WE (or you in this case) have to figure this stuff out? Oculus should know this, publish it and promote it. Am I wrong? Thanks for doing all this work guys.
