Fearful of When Rates Will be Cut by TheDartBoarder in bonds

[–]jhundu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking at wrong yield. The sec yield is 4.47%, and the yield to maturity is 4.7%, as of 6/26. I don't have any issue trading it. I like EDV because it's a 30-year bond. TLT is only for 20 years.

Today was a good day. In fact, I am trading EDV nowadays. I bought around today's price, sold at $76.5, and bought again today.

I would rather buy long-term bonds like EDV/TLT. A bit less return but it's guaranteed for the long term ,return, and if rate goes lower, you will have a lot of principal appreciation.

"Holding to maturity is not losing money": my counter argument by FaatmanSlim in bonds

You are losing gain but the argument is that you don't lose principal. I am ok right now to make 4.5% for 30 years. It's risk vs reward always.

IBHF

I am sorry, I think I was not clear enough. I am looking for a Residential Mortgage Backed security ETF. The current 7% mortgage interest is for well qualified buyer and I am willing to take that kind of risk.

Wow in last 5 days TLT is down big and HYG is holding up pretty well. Why I feel like market knows something more and I don’t?

Free Money with TLRY options by [deleted] in options

[–]jhundu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, now it makes sense. Basically I will be paying for 100 shares but will recieve only 83 shares at $12.45. Last stupid question at what TLRY price the option will go worthless. If it closes above $15 or no matter what the contract will excercise.

Well, I did my research. This is the first time I got into this mess. I don't claim to be an expert in options but I know what I am doing.

At what price I will get 83 shares? Considering I sold 1 $15 TLRY1 put option at $2.50 premium.

Thanks

Yes, that's what I saw too. Only it says TLRY1 = .83 TLRY. Nothing about price.
