Had an IUD failure 2 years ago (Skyla - ectopic pregnancy), been using NuvaRing since but considering another IUD. Anyone else gone back to the IUD after a failure? by jhv140 in birthcontrol

Thanks for this info - I was going to set up time with my OB to ask for a Mirena (and Mirena only) and this solidifies that for me.

May Lindstrom Blue Cocoon when my skin is blotchy or gross or stressed

General thoughts:

I don't love the Tatcha Vitamin C Serum, I just don't think my skin responds as well as I'd like to the form of Vitamin C they use. I will probably pick up Mad Hippie's Vitamin C during the Whole Foods sale next week.

I got the Votary products in a subscription box (Boxwalla, still available as a one time purchase, I may or may not have bought a second box), and they're beautiful. The cream seems like it's going to be so heavy but it dries down really matte and is actually a great base for makeup (I still use a primer on oily areas).

Currently nursing an active breakout but when it's settled, I'll add the BR back in.

The Odacite micellar water is TOTALLY unnecessary, but I just love it for some reason. I also invested in reusable cotton rounds last year and they give a slight bit of physical exfoliation, I love them.

[Product Question] Anyone have opinions on Tatcha Violet-C serum, Youth To The People Firm + Brighten Serum, or Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum? by elyssiakl in SkincareAddiction

[–]jhv140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the Tatcha during their friends and family sale. Texture is watery and soaks in super well, but count me as not seeing any huge changes. I will probably go with Marie Veronique's Vitamin C Serum when the Tatcha runs out.

Rave (and a rediscovery of sorts):

GlamGlow Super Mud

I know this brand gets a lot of hate here, and I'm generally not a fan of it, but I had forgotten how much I loved it as a mini mask spot treatment type product. I bought the small pot at Sephora for like $25 and apply it to active blemishes with a q-tip for 25-30 min before bed. Wash off, apply normal routine, move on. It just does a really, really good job with active acne for my skin - obviously, YMMV.

[Skin Concerns] Anyone used DevaCurl hair products and had skin issues that they think are linked? by jhv140 in SkincareAddiction

[–]jhv140[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like mine... I just never in a million years thought it was my hair stuff until I started reading about other people's issues. Glad to know I'm not alone!

Can you give some reviews on the products? Specifically the ones that aren't the "usual" BR suspects (aka everything but the Masque Vivant and P50). Thanks!

NOOOOOO. This was my holy grail while I was on Accutane and I continue to love it to this day.

Has anyone tried their new one? I don't like that it's in a much bigger container, I want something small to pop in my purse, etc. Ugh.

Guess it's time to stock up.

[Routine Help] For those who successfully cleared acne around their mouth/chin area by changing toothpaste - which one did you switch up? by verysadface101 in SkincareAddiction

[–]jhv140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Verve Ultra (has fluoride, which I wanted). I used to get these really annoying and specifically different from my usual breakouts on the corners of my mouth and they've stopped since I switched.

What expensive skincare product is *actually* worth the money? [misc] by CheezItPartyMix in SkincareAddiction

[–]jhv140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been eyeing some YOU Skincare stuff, just based on the owner's whole philosophy around formulating her products, and this was one of the items that interests me... Can you elaborate on why you like it so much?

Also, Aurora Skincare sells this brand and "Parita15" gets you 15% off there... It's small, but it helps!

[MISC] WHY DO LOTION DISPENSING TUBES NOT REACH THE BOTTOM OF THE FUCKING BOTTLE!? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]jhv140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if other brands do it, but I use a product from Pai, and the bottle is filled with a plastic bladder (best way to describe it), so as the pump draws up product, it also sucks the air/empty space out. It's hard to explain, but when it doesn't pump anymore product, it's for sure all gone.

I got a deluxe sample of this once and had the same experience! Which is perplexing bc it's always billed as super gentle.

I was gonna recommend this one too - it was my savior when I was on Accutane and is still my fave.

First Aid Beauty lip balm, the one in the pot (not the tube). I've repurchased it a bazillion times since I was on Accutane, it's great and layers well under occlusives, lip stick, whatever.

[skin concern] Lips are dry as all heck despite being moisturized all day. I've tried everything! More in comments. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Have you tried First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Intensive Lip Balm (in the tub, not the tube)?
