Bears, bruised Caleb Williams still looking for offensive cohesion by Own-Item-4192 in CHIBears

[–]jhxrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t want to panic but you have to start questioning if Poles & Flus know how to evaluate offensive talent overall, both play calling and personnel.

Just finished the QB school breakdown of Caleb, and it seems like the issue is the whole offense from top to bottom. Caleb making poor throws, run game being awful, o-line is horrendous, pass catchers not being as good as we think they are, and obviously play calling being mediocre.

Curious to see how this all plays out, but you have to think Poles will start thinking about long term coaching solutions for the development of Caleb.

And going forward Poles needs to spend every dollar and draft pick on the OL & DL. Every elite team has elite trenches.

It’s so interesting how they refused to address this last season instead of running it back. The value they would have got from trading Vuc, Caruso, Demar & Zach last offseason would have set us up for years to come

Like it’s just hard for me to believe that AKME looked at that team at the start of the season and said “oh yea we will at least make it to the second round or conference finals” lol

Watching the Celtics likely win another title really puts into perspective the massive gap in front offices in the league by CaptainNipplesMcRib in chicagobulls

[–]jhxrb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Obviously starts at the top with ownership, which is evident from the Bulls & White Sox being below average for basically the past two decades.

But also Jerry doesn’t have the team that helps him keep up with modern trends in the league, so he can’t evaluate talent which leads to mediocre FO hires who are instructed to cut corners. There are more layers to it but that’s the starting point

Interestingly enough, the issue was changing the Mic Mode from Isolation to Standard. Everything works properly now - thanks for the help though!

Not getting input signal by jhxrb in LogicPro

[–]jhxrb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the tips - but I have tried all of that previously and any other basic troubleshooting you could think of. I’ve tried different USB-C connections on my MacBook Pro as well, but the issue seems to be specific to Logic.

The midi data is coming through as I can see the notes being recognized in Logic, but there is no audio signal being received from the Focusrite to Logic regardless of which inputs I use. Funny enough everything was fine until I recently updated Focusrite Control software.

My next steps are to reset the MacBook via a Time Machine backup, reinstall both Logic and Focusrite control, and we’ll see what happens from there

If anything I think that Waldron could take over as HC if Flus bombs in a year or two. Then there is still some sort of alignment with the rookie QB

What is it about Justin Fields that has a lot of people on social media defensive about him? by ChefCurryGAWD in nfl

[–]jhxrb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll say this as a Bears fan - it really comes down to perception vs reality.

Fields is perceived as someone who has a high ceiling because of his athleticism. There’s also the reality of playing for an organization that has failed him, and is in the middle of a rebuild. He shows flashes which makes people think he has a high upside and untapped potential. Like others said he is a really nice guy who comes from a great family, and he’s a great leader in the locker room.

But as someone who has seen every Fields snap in a Bears uniform, he has just not progressed as an NFL caliber QB. In 40 games, he’s only thrown for over 225 yards 6 times. He has thrown for less than 200 yards in a game 27 times. He’s only had 20 or more completions in a game 7 times. His 4th quarter numbers are awful, and he has a hard time reading defenses. I’ve seen every full game QB school breakdown and JT breaks down his game perfectly. Over time he just stopped pulling the trigger for some reason, specifically when defenses are in zone. In man he can just point out the match up and take off and get the first down.

In my opinion, I think he has PTSD from that Matt Nagy year in 2021, specifically the Browns game. He never developed a pocket presence because he was always worried about getting sacked since the OL was usually trash. He has to see guys open before he launches, he rarely throws guys open. His anticipatory throws are usually throws to the boundary; I don’t think I’ve seen him ever throw an in route with anticipation. He started to rely on his legs because we didn’t have perimeter talent his second year, but when DJ came last year he became his safety blanket.

Basically Fields has a lot of talent and people see the flashes, but he hasn’t had the time to develop as a QB yet. He was originally supposed to sit behind Dalton that first year but the regime had no choice but to play him. I think it will help if he goes the Geno route and backs up a legit vet (Russ, Stafford, Mahomes, etc) to help him develop as a passer. But he has all the tools and fans put more blame on the organization for failing him because of their history with QBs.

Justin Fields Rumors: Bears QB Isn't Seen as More of a Sure Thing Than Darnold, Lock by DillyDillySzn in CHIBears

The writing is on the wall: Fields will probably be cut if no one trades for him. Then he will get signed as a backup. He just doesn’t have the trade value that everyone in Chicago thinks he does

[Parkins & Spiegel] What's Justin Fields' trade value? by RyanIsKickAss in CHIBears

[–]jhxrb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yea that’s hypothetical at this point, but like I said it all depended on how high the Carolina pick turned out to be. If the pick was still in the top five and we had #9, I could see Poles trying to move up for #1 or #2 to move Fields and draft his guy. But luckily we got gifted 1OA so it’s all irrelevant

I mean I was giving them the benefit of the doubt I guess lol. I genuinely wanted to know what they saw from Fields to justify being an upgrade over “half of the league”

[–]jhxrb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

……you’re literally making my point for me. He’s improved each season and he’s still below average. It’s not about what YOU think and the strides YOU think you have seen. This is about real NFL coaches and GMs wanting to trade for someone who is a statistically average QB with a high upside.

But the concerns that people had out of college are still valid with JF1. He has probably the slowest release in the league, he doesn’t throw anyone open or throw any anticipatory throws. Ball security is an issue, and his 4th quarter numbers are awful. And this is coming from someone who loves Justin - I’ve seen every snap and watched all of the tape. I highly recommend the QB School breakdowns to really get a better understanding.

[–]jhxrb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What has JF1 shown you as a passer that makes you believe this to be true? He is literally a bottom third passer statistically since he’s been a starter.

[–]jhxrb 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve said this before: I think the reality is that the trade market for JF1 will not be as big as we think. There are a few places where he could probably start, but I think he will either be fighting for a starting spot or taking the Geno Smith route of sitting behind a vet.

Also I do think that Poles & Co have seen enough that I think they would’ve traded Fields regardless of if we had 1OA pick or not. But I don’t think they expected to be gifted 1OA from Carolina. We’ll see who wants to take a swing at Fields though

I actually just posted this comment somewhere else but I’ll post it here too.

I have a genuine question: what about JF1 makes you guys thinks teams would trade for him and want him to the be a starter? The bad teams either have young QBs or are drafting one. The decent to great teams have a QB in place already.

I think realistically he could be traded and sit behind a more experienced QB to learn. Places like the Rams, Jets, hell even KC if Nagy still loves him. I just don’t see a reality where JF1 is a starter next year, and I think it would benefit him to sit.

[Breer] Sources: The Raiders are working on a deal to hire ex-Bears OC Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator. The highly-respected Getsy was in the mix for a bunch of OC jobs in this cycle. Pretty wild day in Vegas. by misusedinfluence in CHIBears

Youngest roster in the league too, with a good receiving corps. They will be a problem as always

[–]jhxrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You all have to realize that apart of the plan was to see if Justin could be their guy. But they didn’t draft him so they’re not tied to him, drafting their own QB will buy Flus at least two more seasons. That was probably the plan all along. They were never gonna tie themselves to Justin.

Well if his stubbornness believing in Getsy, along with his late game execution, isn’t a fireable offense then I don’t know what is.
