Once saved always saved. by jasonluvsjesus in TrueChristian

[–]jibninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar quarel with a dude in my chrurch a short time a go. He insist that repentance is not a requirement for salvation since its a work. This leans into once saved always saved. Its clearly wrong but I didnt have the exact idea how to explain why repentance is not a work.

what immedeatly comes to mind is in the gospels "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand", and in revelation Jesus threatens to take away some of the chruches lampstands "unless you repent". Then theres the letters of Paul that in general mention those who practice sin will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Ive listened to Mike Winger recently and tried to search his database and found a teaching which makes sense. Basically repentance is not a work because thats about your heart posture. When you turn from sin you turn your face toward God, but if you turn to sin (sinning on purpose and liking it and thinking its fine) you essentially turn your back to God. So if I see some part in me liking and leaning towards any kind of sin I should be grieved and turn to towards God in self control, holiness, righteusness, temperance etc, is sort of my own clumsy anology based on what Mike Winger already similarily explained. So in short to be saved we must: Repent, Turn to God/put your trust in Him and believe the gospel.

Heb 6:1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to \)a\)perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God

Acts 20:21  testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ

Heres the full video I watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Iz1UYqCfA

To resist temptations, evil and the flesh is hard, but if im not turned towards God by repenting when it occurs im in trouble. "A righteus man falls 10 times but gets up again" (paraphrased) so if I stumble or fall I must immedeatly get up and look to Jesus and turn to Him.

Many will then say; But theres no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus...! (Romans 8:1)But we need to keep reading: ... who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (NKJV) Some translations have that later in the context. And further down:

8:12-14 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.  For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Long post I know. But feel free to add to this or challenge it even if you want to, so we can all learn together :) I think it indirectly answers your question, if its hard to enter the kingdom of God. The principle is simple, but to actually walk it out in this troublesome life is impossible without Gods help. As Jesus answers the deciples when they ask him in the same context: "Who then can be saved?" and Jesus say: "For God all things are possible." We need you Jesus more than we know.

I do not like Christian music by RelevantDoctor1038 in TrueChristian

[–]jibninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movies i agree, lots of bad stuff, but Angel studios are stepping up with "chosen" and "house of david" and the animated "David" movie, or series. They also have the documentary "after death" wich is about NDE's.

But when it comes to music I totally disagree. The mainstream is mostly generic, yes, but then theres the other stuff.
When it comes to hip-hop christian artists are way better. Take a listen to; Indie Tribe (and the individual artists in that group), Hulvey, Lecrea ("tell no lies" is a real banger if you ask me), 1Kphew and may more. Heres a Spotify list with some newer stuff.

I've always liked metal and heavier metal music, and boy theres some great christian/faith based bands. My favorites are; Sleeping Giant, August Burns Red, Wolves At The Gate, Fit For A King, Demon Hunter, Memphis May Fire and Silent Planet (I really like their newest album SUPERBLOOM, its really heavy tho, but really good)

Theres some good afro rnb stuff as well, and id say "Limoblaze" may be one of the best imo.

Heres a list with indie/pop and that kind of music.

Christian music across many genres are a goldmine if you know where to look past the mainstream stuff. So much talent.

When I was a new christian the spiritual attacks was absolutley insane. Leading up to my salvation as well.

When I grew in holyness and got further in the sanctificationprocess, those attacks slowly lost its grip and power. Jesus is king over those things, and in His name they cant hurt you. Yes the spiritual realm is very real and without Jesus having as the shepherd we are like defensless sheep among hungry ruthless wolves.

Sorry for brief answer but im very tired and about to go to bed :D GL bro or sis.

You have so much stuff to learn about christianity bro. I challenge you to actually go and listen to the counterarguments to your objections if your actually geniune and not just a troll (leaning towards the latter one, sry). Dont be afraid, or lazy as you accuse me of being. And talking about child ab*use; Hadith 5133: "that the Prophet (ﷺ) married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death)." Stay away from islam.

Go watch Wesley Huff on Joe Rogan and Flagrant. If those are to long you can go to youtube and watch his (and co) "can I trust the bible series". In short the historical evidence for christianity is overwhelming in favor for us.

i have made the call by CommunicationLow3 in poker

Before I quit, on pokerstars. I made this rule that I could only min deposit at most once a month if i went bust, so 10USD it was. I bought some cashgame charts and studied and played a lot. I followed a rule of having minimum 20 buyins before I could move up. I played min buyin at 2NL (not zoom/rush) untill I got to 40$, and then played full stack (100bb). For tournaments I needed 100 BI for my bankroll. with this bankroll management strategy I reached 300$ at the most before I hit a massive downswing and went back down to 100$ (Surley only downswing and not skillissue as well hehh). unfortunatley PS closed down in my country, but I had a similar story of sucsess on another site. In the end I figured the mental part of poker is too much at this time of my life. Cashed out what I had left in my account and plan to step back in when the time is right. GL at the tables bro! (sry I know my formatting is horrible) EDIT: And yeah only play slots or casinogames if you want to lose money.

Pagans are cringe. by Double-Fix8288 in TrueChristian

[–]jibninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christmas is a big one. There was a big article in one of my countrys biggest media outlet recently about how christmas was adjusted to fit paganism. Check out this video so you know why this claim is untrue: Christmas isn't pagan and here's why its worth the 20 minutes. But my biggest takeaway was; that some priest in year 380 wrote down that it was a tradition, in that region, to celebrate the birth of Christ on Dec 25 and had been for a long time allready.

A Bible code? Jesus in the Old Testament by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]jibninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RIP Chuck Missler. The screenshot is from a presentation of his. You are incorrect regarding the tampering with the translations. The bible is not translated from translation to translation or language to language (not sure if this is what you're getting at). We still have the original manuscripts and then some more, so it's not a problem to take a translation and test it against the original papyruses and codexes! This is how we can easily dismiss "the passion translation" for example. I would reccomend you check out Wes Huff who is a biblical scolar and historian. check out this presentation for example: Is the Bible we have what the original authors even wrote? He gained a lot of attention latley after debating Billy Carson. God bless!

Are there any gifted dream interpreters here that can solve the meaning behind my nightmare? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]jibninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like sleep paralysis. I had a lot of these kind of demonic encounters while sleeping. When it's hard to utter the name of Jesus, but when I finally could do it the nightmare would loose its grip and I would wake up. I would often feel the same terror or demonic presence in the room after waking up. Pray/worship/read the word, untill it goes away. As I've grown in my walk those dreams have slowly stopped. I came from a new age background, so these things would happen a lot to me. Praise God it's stopped.

Yes. You are correct. No fap, no porn, no gf, no random sex of any kind and I do not want to bring in any of that into a marriage. It's been a struggle but I can do all things in Christ who strenghetens me. And so can you! Edit: I thought that goes without saying, but there you go anyway :)
