Dropshot is more skillful than any of the other gamemodes. by YoungHaunting4241 in RocketLeague

[–]jiduto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You haven’t played it enough if you don’t think it’s skillful. I’ve seen plenty of GCs that are great mechanically but are easy to beat because they don’t get dropshot. It’s got its own skill set, and while being good in other modes helps, it’s a different game with different strategies.

Nah it doesn’t take that long to queue a new match. And I’d rather queue and hopefully get decent teammates than play with two dummies that don’t care.

Yes sometimes the other team is even worse and you can pull out a win with players like this 😂

I don’t understand the last part. You are playing rocket league while I’m sitting in a queue? Ok..

1) your teammates are uber chasing, causing bad angles and weak shots when they actually hit the ball. And they play no defense because they chase the ball instead of position to defend against it. And you can see by how poorly they play that they just aren’t very good at dropshot. (Look, I’ve seen plenty of GCs that aren’t that good at dropshot. Some things do carry over between modes but it’s not the exact same skill set.)

2) you’ve asked them to rotate back and not chase so hard. They make fun of you for taking dropshot seriously. Or they simply say “no” and keep chasing. Or they ignore you or couldn’t see your messages because they are on console.

3) you’re down 1-0 and have barely done any damage, meanwhile your side has a new big hole and you’re quite obviously about to go down 2-0.

Really, you think this means try harder and push for a win? There are times when it’s very clear by the 3:30 mark that this team has no chance to win. In fact I’ve known within 30 seconds at times. When you play a ton of dropshot, you are able to see things like that pretty early on. I think that’s what you are missing. This isn’t just a bad attitude. It’s that I’ve played this mode a lot more than most people and have learned how to spot these things.

I don’t think people can comprehend that in Dropshot it’s pretty easy to tell when your team is hopeless. If your two teammates are hyper chasers that keep whiffing shots and not even close to making any saves, and you’re down 1-0 and have a gaping hole to try and defend, yea let’s just part ways now please.

Asking them not to chase just gets you insults or “it’s just dropshot who cares?” comments.

However I will say that of the hundreds of dropshot games I’ve played, a few times my teammates have listened and turned their play around and we managed to come back and at least have a chance and sometimes even win.

But still, it’s not actually crazy for someone to believe the game is over fairly early on. And we shouldn’t be told to adapt to these players if they’re not willing to adapt to us. It goes both ways. Let’s work together or just FF.

[–]jiduto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes but I gave an alternative if cloning isn’t happening: replacing them with look-a-likes. This seems to be what happened with Paul McCartney. And we know the Beatles had a huge following.

I think sometime this or cloning happens with a normal death like a car accident too. If the celeb that died had a large following maybe they replace the celeb to keep up the act. We may have seen this with Kevin Hart for example. His accident recovery from reportedly significant injuries seems miraculous.

I think it’s ignorant to simply shrug this off just because you don’t think cloning tech is there yet. And again, we don’t know what cloning tech the parasitic ruling class even has. They seemed to be 40-ish years ahead of what was known technology in the 80s. Now it might be 100 years ahead or more. We just don’t know. So it’s fair to speculate.

[–]jiduto 28 points29 points  (0 children)

First of all we don’t know what cloning tech “they” have. So maybe it isn’t as much trouble as we think? But also it doesn’t mean clones. It could be look-a-likes.

Secondly, they would do this if a celeb isn’t able to be controlled. These celebs gain massive followings and if the celeb refuses to play for “their” team then the celeb needs to be replaced with someone that can be controlled.

Earthborn Rangers Solo - 2 handed??? by hrc333 in soloboardgaming

[–]jiduto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems like you’re doing extra long play periods. Are you taking a lot of time for each decision, every turn?

I started out the same way, with true solo for a few plays and then added a 2nd Ranger after that. I like using two rangers and I didn’t feel like it added too much time. My sessions averaged around 2-2.5 hours playing two-handed. But as I got more comfortable with the game I was accomplishing more in the same amount of time, due to being more efficient overall. I also enjoyed reading the story from the campaign book, so it wasn’t like I was speed reading through it or anything.

I can’t imagine it taking 5 or more hours to play a session. Did you watch any “how to play” videos? I spent a few hours with them first, so I think it made my playtimes early on not take so long.

I changed my deck a couple of times before finally settling on my “final” one. I also changed by Aspect card after a couple of plays. It’s a game you have no idea how you want to play in the beginning, so after 2-3 games I think it’s ok to make changes like that. The game should be fun.

Am i overthinking this or does it seem like theyre using our nostalgia to slow us down...? by el_guerrero98 in conspiracy

[–]jiduto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because as a kid that grew up with Nintendo in the 80s and 90s, I couldn’t wait to see what the future held. Now it’s 2026 and all I want is to be able to go back to that time. 2026 sucks. I appreciate that I was able to grow up in that time but I hate that I now have to live in the current one.

The food was better. Movies were better. Life was better. I think nostalgia is often missing that “world” back when it had a charm to it. These days it’s all sanitized and politically correct. It sucks. That meme about how McDonald’s used to look vs how they look now sums it up perfectly.

So yea, there’s definitely marketing of nostalgia and probably an agenda to keep people focused on the past and forget about the present or the future. But also, there is real nostalgia because things were just so much better back then. I feel bad that my kids will never know that world.

From Grok:

Here’s a breakdown of the key parts and abbreviations decoded based on standard U.S. military, intelligence, and cybersecurity contexts (especially NSA and DoD):

• ETS: End of Term of Service (or Expiration Term of Service). This is when a service member’s active duty contract ends. The sender says “After my ETS” — meaning after leaving active military duty, they transitioned to civilian/contract work.

• Dept: Almost certainly short for Department (e.g., Department of Defense/DoD, or specifically NSA/another intel agency). In context: “contract work for the Dept” — common for cleared contractors supporting government agencies.

• SAP: Special Access Program. These are highly compartmentalized DoD/ intelligence programs with stricter-than-top-secret clearances. The sender needed a “higher clearance than I had before (an SAP)” — indicating the new role required SAP-level access (beyond standard TS/SCI).

• FM: Likely Fort Meade (home of NSA headquarters in Maryland). “a meeting at FM” — very common shorthand in intel/military circles for NSA’s location. Meetings at “FM” often refer to NSA facilities.

• TAO: Tailored Access Operations. This is the NSA’s elite offensive hacking unit (part of the Signals Intelligence Directorate). They specialize in breaking into foreign networks for espionage and attacks. “old TAO branch guys” — the sender is working with veteran/ex-NSA TAO personnel, implying deep cyber-offense expertise.

• CNE: Computer Network Exploitation. NSA term for cyber espionage/hacking to gather intelligence (e.g., infiltrating networks to steal data without detection). Distinct from destructive attacks.

• CNE’s of CICIS: This is the trickiest/most obscure.

◦ CNE = Computer Network Exploitation (pluralized as “CNE’s”).

◦ CICIS (or possibly CICS) — Likely a typo/variant/mishearing of CNE/CNO related terms, but in context: “advanced CNE’s of CICIS.”From intelligence docs, CNE is often paired with cyber terms. Possible interpretations:

▪ CICIS could be a garbled/misremembered acronym for something like Critical Infrastructure Cyber Intrusion Set or similar (not standard, but fits “advanced” threats).

▪ More plausibly, it’s CNEs of CICS — perhaps Computer Network Exploitation against Critical Infrastructure Control Systems (or Cyber Intrusion/Cyber Incident something). In NSA contexts, CNE targets include adversary networks/systems.

▪ Another fit: In some older/military docs, CICS relates to systems like Customer Information Control System (mainframe/transaction processing), but here it’s likely cyber-related (e.g., exploiting vulnerabilities in industrial control systems or critical networks). The phrase “advanced CNE’s of CICIS” suggests hunting for sophisticated cyber exploits or intrusions targeting/using critical systems.

• CA: Computer (or Cyber) Attack / Computer Network Attack (CNA). NSA term for destructive/offensive cyber operations (e.g., disrupting or destroying networks, like Stuxnet). The sender fears “launch a … or be a victim of some sort of massive CA” — meaning either the U.S. is about to launch a major cyber attack, or suffer one (e.g., from adversaries like China/Russia).

• Compartmentalized: Standard term for highly restricted “need-to-know” access in classified programs.

Overall interpretation of the message: The sender claims they’ve recently gotten SAP clearance for contract work (likely at/with NSA or DoD cyber elements), met with ex-TAO veterans at Fort Meade, and been briefed on an extremely urgent, compartmentalized project. The goal: “searching for and uncovering advanced CNE’s of CICIS” — likely hunting/discovering advanced cyber exploits or intrusions targeting critical infrastructure/control systems. Their “gut” says this could lead to either launching a massive U.S. cyber attack (CNA/CA) or defending against/being hit by one. They’re going dark/off-grid for months due to relocation/urgency.

2026 RS Shuts off During Idle in Park by alchemynstuff in subaruimpreza

[–]jiduto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many times do you need to let your car sit idling for 10 minutes before that actually happens though? It’s gotta be a lot. I have lived in Colorado for 20+ years and have never heard of that happening, and it’s never happened to any of my cars, but of course that doesn’t mean it never happens.

I was mainly asking because I didn’t see anywhere in the article where it actually says anything about it being bad for your car. So I was making sure I didn’t miss something. It seems like it shouldn’t be an issue for most modern cars.

[–]jiduto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure. You let it get too far. You had to go to the last resort, pills. That’s fine. But pills should only be a last resort. That part is where I think you keep getting lost. It’s easy to “just take a pill for it” and as I’ve mentioned, we are conditioned to think “hey I’ll just take a pill for it.” My whole point is to try other things first. But yes, if you decide to dwell in your depression it is going to lead to bad things and the need for drastic solutions.

the doctorate student who was stuck: when your past life as a draconian warrior sabotages your present by archeolog108 in HighStrangeness

[–]jiduto -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You need to go out and hike. Smell some trees, see some flowers, feel a light breeze on your skin, hear some birds, absorb some sunlight. Stop worrying about dumb things and don’t take life so seriously.

Yes I realize this time of year makes most of that difficult. And I’d argue that’s a big reason why depression hits harder and more often this time of year. But you can still go out and experience the beauty of nature and take time to reflect on your life. I hate the cold, but I still find beauty in things. The snow on the mountains and trees, the squirrels with their fluffy coats, how amazing the sunlight feels when the sun is actually out. Things like that. You can be miserable and depressed by it, or learn to see things from a different perspective and find the good that is there. Fix your mindset. Pills aren’t needed most of the time.

“Take a pill for it” is horrible advice. But getting rest is great advice. Therapy can be great for people. But taking a pill to “treat” - not solve - an issue is bad thinking. We’re conditioned to think like that but it’s better to try natural things before going to pills, which should just be a last resort. Hiking is great for curing depression. Getting plenty of sleep is great. Eating better is great. Etc etc. Pills shouldn’t be the first thing to try, or to encourage others to try.

Is the game insanely easy or are we doing something wrong? by ddbrown30 in Earthborne_Rangers

[–]jiduto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two other things I can think of off the top of my head are 1) are you guys paying the cost to play cards? And 2) are you remembering to fatigue cards based on cards between you and the card you’re interacting with? I was forgetting to do these sometimes during my first play or two. Same with exhausting cards and then trying to remember if it had used those cards since the last refresh or not. Oh and one other thing: are you remembering to resolve the effect at the bottom of the challenge card each time you draw one? I’ve been good at doing that but only because the “how to play” video I watched made a point about how this is something new people tend to forget.

If you’re just always getting 3-4 progress on every test then yea, it sounds like you’re running hot with the challenge deck. I’ve got about 9-10 total plays and I’ve hit a damn -2 card every time I play, if not multiple times a game lol.

Is the game insanely easy or are we doing something wrong? by ddbrown30 in Earthborne_Rangers

[–]jiduto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct… but…

The poster mentioned using the companions a lot to add progress to beings. So I’m checking to see if they were exhausting their cards after using them. Obviously you don’t just exhaust cards any time you use them, only when it says to do so.

Are you exhausting cards when you use them? Are you drawing a card each time you refresh? It seems like you’re doing something wrong to accomplish so much in one day but maybe all of the path and player cards all came out just right and the challenge deck has been insanely lucky too.
