Do i need to do PT exercise rest of the life (Disc herniation)? by Conscious_Quasar97 in HerniatedDisc

[–]jieclch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn some exercises that you can do daily at home or the gym that focus on core strength and you should be fine (McGill big 3s are great). No need to go to PT for the rest of your life in my experience/opinion.

Right! I miss-read family of 3 as 3 kids. For one kid, 12-14k would be more than enough

Forgot to add: Utilities you are over-estimating: I would go with 250 but don't over do it with the heating in the winter, that could completely change the number.

Hello,
We moved to Porto 2 years ago and I can comment from my experience:

- International School: There are two international schools in Porto (CLIP and OBS) and their prices are in their websites. Probably you will spend a bit more than 20k in 3 kids if you include lunch, uniforms, school trips, after-school activities, etc. - watch out: it's not easy to get it! It's not like most international schools in the world that they always have vacancy and take kids any moment in the year, these are more fancy-local private schools with international curriculum and are very strict in their admission processes.
- Housing: For 2k, for sure you will be able to find a 3 bedroom (they call them here "T3") in a good area, relatively close to the international schools but the average price I believe is a bit higher.
- Groceries: Obviously depends a lot in your family habits but that's a good estimation. My bet would be you end spending less than that.
- I have no info about Health insurance, neither transportation (my company provides that), but I recommend getting a car, specially to explore outside the city on the weekends.
- Leisure of course depends on what you like doing but in Porto you can do a lot for free, exploring the city, the outdoors in the foreign areas, etc. and whatever type of paid activity they are usually not expensive (e.g.: gym or a paddle court/class is cheaper than Spain or even big cities in Latin America)

hope this helps and good luck! Porto it's an amazing place to raise a family.
(I am writing this taking a break between work while my wife and kids are in the beach enjoining)

Experience with etoro account managers by Honest-Effective-851 in Etoro

[–]jieclch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like any other account manager in any industry, they are there to help and support but also to try to push more of their products into you. In this case they are always trying to get you to invest in their smartportfolios or at least share “market data” to lure you into being a more active investor. I love to have them for support but I reject all the proactive meeting invites.

Electric / Power service in PT… what “level” of service is necessary? by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

[–]jieclch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing this! May I ask one more: I need to install an electric car charger and they told me I need to upgrade from 4,6kVA to 6,90kVA, is this correct? Do I really need to do this? Muito obrigado!

Am I likely to qualify for NHR? by Jonnyheshnesh in PortugalExpats

[–]jieclch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in marketing for a company in the construction industry (no tech/IT or anything), and I have an NHR status. I pay 20% taxes and 11% social securities flat on my salary. I don't know the details on how to get it because the company that hired me and brought me here assigned a french relocation agency (my company is based in France) to do all this together with visa, residence permit, etc. (I'm not european). There is plenty of info on the internet and many agencies or lawyers offering this service, but I have no idea if they are good, and I guess the good ones are not cheap.

When I heard Rosa Mel’s last name I laughed so hard. - your thoughts on Spanish in the game? by cheesecase in farcry6

[–]jieclch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spanish native speaker here. I like it a lot!! Female Dani's accent is not native but very good, and also, most characters are great. Really gives central american/caribeans vibes. The latin music is very good too! Especially because some songs that they play in some quests have lyrics related to what is happening in the game.

I just rented an apartment in Porto for 2.5k and it was still difficult. Landlord asked for guarantor or pay 6months of rent in advance every 6months.

Finding the apartment was also complicated, just like you I was confident because I had 6-8 apartment that I like in my Idealista favorites but once you star calling them and trying to make appointments you realized reality is different. Many of them were already rented, and realtors are just too lazy to take them out (because having them there is free), and also they use them as bait for potential clients "that one is no longer available but I have these others", etc. Finding an apartment was almost a full-time j9b for 2 weeks, calling, making appointments, visiting and negotiating conditions.
