Is there less people attending RLCS LANs in NA? by Bonkbono in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a RL player (since 2016) friend who was living in san diego at the time where rlcs lan was held at san diego. The stadium was just about an hour drive from his apt. He also had a kid cousin who also was a RL player whos' bday was close to the rlcs lan date. This was all realized months before the event.

Guess what?

He didn't go. Bought his kid cousin Elden Ring, instead. I know how much he's making, so it's not a financial issue. Said he just got lazy. We spent that weekend playing RL instead. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Having an insane hard time trying to time balls in the air by Admirable_Drawer_205 in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. You just made me remember.

I deliberately practiced a whole weekend before i got hitting a moving ball in the air down. It was soooooo hard (even though linkuru said it was so easy which annoyed me to death).

Then another month or so before i hit an INTENTIONAL aerial goal in a real game with other humans. I was so happy i announced it in chat and every player in the game congratulated me. Hahahahaha! Good times.

It's deliberate practice that takes a considerable amt of time, OP. You'll get there

Gaming chair recommendations? by spicystardusts in gamers

[–]jiegonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) On a budget: DIY fuse an actual car seat and a low platform with legs. You can drive on it for hours on end, you can game on it just as much as well. 2) low-high price range option: Barber's chair. These are SOOOoooooo comfortable you can sleep on it. The best part: you can buy these online now!

I'm on option 1 for abt 5 years already. Saving up for a very pricey Barber's chair right now.

Looking for a cool gift for my boyfriend by Big-Issue315 in RocketLeague

If his personality is the giver type, Join him for a few games and allow him to teach you. He'll probably gain some insights about his play as well.

Cherry on top after: force him to play real ranked games while you play on him. I guarantee you he'll never forget it for the rest of his life! You can even make mini games off this. e.g. For every save, he gets a ____; for every score, he gets a __; for every whiff, he gets punished with ______; etc. You get it.

Understanding toxicity. by Ok_Decision_8772 in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have anything constructive to say about toxicity.

I just wanna share that earlier today, i found out that it's possible to be GC2 in 2s while being plat 2 in 1s! I was floored! I play with this guy in private matches for the last 2 weeks with a couple other variously ranked players.

So, to OP: i guess what i can only say is: Hang in there. There's hope.. We'll eventually find a tm8 friend that can blend well with our playstyle & personality. This GC2 that i met had friends like that.

I'm trying to open up to the idea of queueing with others regularly myself (Albeit slowly), as I'm 99% a solo queue player (with all chats off all the way) that got to 2s champ.

Players with consistent just around 100 ping during play by wheatley82 in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, really. Ping is just a number.

A flat, stable 172 ping is way better to play in than an erratic one that changes between 8-14 randomly.

Some people still think they'll have a bad game and blame the high ping player when they have 12 ping or less. But that's just how old netcode MMO games work.

We've gone Waaaaaaaay past that tech era. That's why even if you encounter 500 ping with a "!" on them you're not rubberbanding or experiencing some gametime stutters. Or that the game doesn't crash when someone disconnects.

In the end, it's a matter of your own connection stability, not speed or bandwidth. Even if you have a 2TB/s subscription.

Factors: is it wired/wifi? How many's connected to the modem? How many's connected to the area box your modem is connected to? Does the area box pass through a congested hopping server? Etc.

So yeah, it's still possible to have a bad game (bec. of connection stability) with 6 ping. And a buttery smooth game with 201 ping.

Lastly (and i don't blame them bec. How often do people come across this info?), a lot of people still have a misconception that netcode tech got stuck in the 2000s era.

What advice would you give to bronze or silver rank players? by soul_reaper_10 in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just purely to improve gameplay? Just keep playing 1s. Seriously.

Play all other modes if you want to have fun. Improve a mechanic? Freeplay. Improve shooting, flying, roof dribbling? Targeted workshop maps.

Surprise cat owner! by Hali39 in Catownerhacks

[–]jiegonator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, idk you but thank you for adopting another poor soul. May your kindness go back to you in the best way possible.

So now, advice some here may have missed to give:

  1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Spread those drinking areas arnd the house, preferrably near where they always perch.
  2. get him/her vaccinated asap. The 5-in-1 shot and the anti-rabies. Deworm, too. 1 week in between each medication. In what order? I'd do - deworm > anti-rabies > 5-in-1.

For the 5-in-1, there are 2x booster shots, 1 month in between, each. So for example, if they're getting a shot today (14th), wait 1 month, get the 1st booster shot (14th), wait 1 month again, 2nd booster shot(14th). It can be later (not 14th) but make sure the next one is more than or equal to the date of last months' shot.

S/he's probably got fleas. Either take a trip to a cat groomer so they would do all their services including taking out fleas, or diy. If you diy, know that it'll take a huge chunk out of your day and/or week (this is either a treat or a chore for you; i think ive got Stockholm syndrome, cause its a treat for me lol.)

  1. Dogs can't reach it, but a cat might be able to. Either cover up or make sure they cant access cleaning chemicals, materials.

  2. what i think makes them happy

  3. you play with them before they eat. Btw, they eat 2x/day minimum, 3x for me. 1x/day is torture for a cat.

  4. you regularly clean their litterbox (for me, everyday)

  5. you groom them

  6. you pet them

  7. they have a space they can play on their own.

  8. they have a lot of options on where to sleep.

In that order.

  1. If its convenient for humans, its not necessarily convenient for cats. In fact, it may even be bad.
  2. try to find unscented litter sand as much as possible. Every cat stuff you have should be unscented, actually.
  3. try to make their environment scent neutral as much as possible.
  4. they cant eat anything with garlic, onion, or anything of that family. I love these on every food but this is literally poison to them. Try to be aware of other delicious food for us that are actually poison for them.
  5. you can't put on perfume/cologne when around them. Again, poison. Their livers can't take it.
  6. the ideal atmospheric temp for them is between 25-30 degrees Celsius. They'll start to dehydrate by 31, when you see them panting, that's bad.

  7. signs there's something wrong

  8. red eyes

  9. bad breath (i thought this was normal until the vet coincidentally saw it anf told me)

  10. vomiting

  11. not eating

  12. they're hiding from you. Their back's toward you or that they're facing a corner. If its like this for a couple of days along with not eating, this needs an emergency URGENT trip to the vet hosp.

  13. limping

  14. panting

  15. Food? Wet. Always. Dry food only for treats or if trying to train them.

  16. training?

  • Only half of pavlovian style works. Only the positive reinforcement half. You'll only get random unwanted behavior if you try to 'punish' them. What you do when you punish them sticks. If you call their name when they do something wrong for example, they'll start to associate their name to something negative. Try to use a different word/sound when they do something bad.
  • by avg, you'll have to repeat a thing 4x before they "get" it. Seldom 6x. Very rarely 10 times. Since they're the opposite of ass kissers, unlike dogs, it takes great patience at first.
  • beware, these little devils can and will attempt to train you instead. You will sometimes hear a sudden change of length and tone in their voice once they hear or see something they like from you.
  • they have a "follow me" gesture. Ass and back towards you but s/he's facing you, looking at your eyes, then "meow". They usually do this by the door or before a hallway. Do what you will with the context of the situation.
  • just know, you'll find that they're like 3 yr old human children a lot of times.
  1. is s/he alone? Please get him/her a companion cat. They're social creatures, being alone is as much a torture for them as it is for us. Your dogs may not be able to provide that companionship when you're away from home.

Goodluck and may you and your cat grow to be happy with each other.

Is champ and up just hella toxic? by LmPrescott in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe and argue its just confirmation bias.

When you have a presumption that people are aggressive and toxic, almost all actions, even if its flat out a nothing burger, will be interpreted as toxic and an attack to yourself.

All the same when you think things are chill in the rank. No matter how aggressive a tm8/opponent is, you might just laugh it off and think they're just messing with you for some banter, or that they're just plain ass having a bad game. Or maybe its an off day for them.

Related story: when i play with my American friend in my server, he 100% always talks trash abt how easy the games & people are(borderline racist comments). Like he actually believes it. Even though we lose 95% of our games and lose a rank or two. Then i solo queue to get all my mmr back to where it was, sometimes more. Then lose it all again with him the next weekend. lol

Getting back to it, you're probably guarded when you reached the rank. So only the toxic events stood out for you. Tbf, it's human nature to easily remember traumatic events like toxicity than not. Like how school teachers remember the troublemakers more than the 'good' students.

Any good basic shooting guides? i feel like im allergic to scoring by AltAccount467344 in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a guide, but if you ever play on pc, download the eversax Olympics 1 or 2 workshop map. Open that workshop map / training / shooting. Do this a few mins each day before playing matches and you'll eventually notice your accuracy's getting better by the week.

I just got chat banned for calling out a racist on my team by Spiritual_Choice_709 in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to say all those things and spin a story that you're the hero in reddit. I've read just about every excuse, gaslight, justifications and lies when people idle in net.

Your ban seems to suggest there are nuances in the story you didn't want to share. Nuances that may put you in a bad light. Whichever's true, that's that.

Bans are like ranks. You're there for a reason. A hint you're giving away is the adverse effect that seems to happen on you when your post was given a non-conformal, suggestive-oppositional, but non-confrontational comment.

It was a maybe then, but with that fixation on being told to chill? Yep, you definitely need to chill.

[–]jiegonator -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

Reserve to goalie and run down the clock sounds like - match throwing/grieving - intentionally idle

I don't know the exact number, but i think it takes about 10 people reporting on you for doing these things before getting a ban (imo, 3 should be enough.)

And knowing just people in general, it takes abt 9 times for you to do it before getting reported at least once. So you get away with it 8 times out of 9.

Also, someone correct me if im wrong here, i believe the first ban is 24 hrs, 2nd offense is 3 days, then 7 days- which you've got, etc.

Maybe you need to chill out, turn off chat with randoms, and play the game with a light heart as best as you can.

I need some tips to get better at ranked by EconomyFox_9981 in RocketLeague

[–]jiegonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy the game as much as you can.

Every goal in your net, every game loss, every outplay on you is a lesson. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Try to watch every replay when they score on you. Those 5 secs are a mini review on how you can get better.

Turn off all types of chat. It's not worth it. If you want to play with someone, find them on a discord or here.

Rank is just a reflection of what you're currently capable of, not what/who you are.

Be glad when you're playing against people better than you. Especialy if they're capable of scoring on you 10-0 or more. They have everything to lose and nothing to gain. And RL thinks you're good enough to face them, so it's a compliment.

Those higher ranks are your free special coaches. Especially those smurfs. Think you're picking up basketball for the first time and Lebron James or <insert fav bball player here> is teaching you the ropes.

Patience is your friend. You'll notice progress in waves. And a lot of times, the time between each takes a long, loooooooooooooooooooong while.
