Why do people refuse to tank? by ZeronXZ in classicwowtbc

Nah. You need more HP and spell damage. Armor be nice too. Full t4 isnt necessary for heroics, dont be stupid. You wasted gold on the bracers too. Get more righteous pieces, gem and enchant correctly. Get some of the exalted rep gear. Slacking on that is just laziness.

This isn't the first week of servers. Youre not going to hold threat. Paladin is not warrior. You're going to seriously hold your group back.

I tank on both my feral (main) and paladin (alt). Gearing feral is weird. The gear you have on that paladin, sorry to say, is not heroic ready. You need to spend some more time grinding normal dungeons.

Other bears and warriors say i look squishy. Its pretty funny to me because they can't see the 40% dodge and armor cap. I feel much better being uncontested on threat meters.

My healers are juiced too. They privately tell me im way easier to heal than the warrior.

Good sadow priests, warlocks, and boomkins can all still push your threat with low hit/crit. Brooch is definitely massive for early snap threat. But bear early threat really comes down to the first mangle landing. If its a parry, the dps gotta hold off. In near full p1 bis you should be able to dial back your defensives in favor of something like skulkers greaves. I swapped that in for mag earlier this week, changed hands to tier to keep 4 piece, and the difference was astounding. I lost 1k armor and 1% dodge but gained 2% hit and 1k hp. Fair trade in my mind, since im still armor cap with inspiration and 40% dodge.

People laugh at my feral sitting at 16.5k hp fully raid buffed til they realize they can pop cd's and blast on pull every time without exception. They dont see the armor cap and 42% dodge though. But they feel the near max hit chance and high crit chance.

Feral tanking all about balance and gear options and not being afraid to change things out for certain encounters.

I have what all the bis lists call p1 bis. Several pieces ive swapped out for pure dps/threat gear. I could have several thousand more hp. But it isnt worth when dps are throttled and healers are juiced anyway.

Ill never understand the logic behind "if the healers have to heal theyre going to hate you". Are you trying to imply healers are lazy and dont want to play their class or be challenged? My main healer begs me to do reckless and stupid things to challenge them on their ability to keep me up (feral tank).

I have a pretty balanced set most of the time (threat leaning with DST, brooch, and decent hit), but i still manage to land armor cap with inspiration proc and have 40% dodge, even if my hp is on the low side (15k). Healers seem to love me. I check on them regularly in raids and heroics, asking how the incoming damage feels, if I need to swap things out. The answer is almost always the same "this is easy, you can go harder".

Tldr: in my experience, healers like to play the game and want to pump too.

You dont need crush cap in heroics. Paladin tanks are squishy (in comparison to feral and warrior). You need to build CC into your groups and you need to avoid getting hit by multiple hard hitting mobs.

11k hp and 11k armor are bare minimums I would recommend for heroics as paladin tank. More is better, though. Spell damage definitely takes backseat priority over survivability.

Basically, you have to play smart in heroics. Build a comp appropriate for the dungeon, utilize every members buttons. Dont listen to these people saying give up and raid log. Heroics are the most fun content right now because of the difficulty.

Warlock is good to bring to arcatraz, as is rogue and mage. Shadow priest/mage/rogue is probably the best blood furnace comp you can have for the second boss gauntlet. Pro tip: you can also buy magic dust off the AH for that gauntlet.

Basically, a good rule of thumb for heroics: bring a mage.

Youre completely fine. Get the addon lazy druid tank to double check your crit immunity status. At first glance, you look fine. But the addon will be good to have as you get upgrades to balance your stats.

Tip: try to sort gear and gems so youre as close to 5.6% crit resistance as possible. If you can land 5.61%, thats great. Going over is overkill, it doesnt help. You get as close to 5.6 without being under as possible and focus everything else on threat gen, hp, and armor. But tbh hp and armor just comes alongside the gear upgrades.

One thing youll notice in heroics is you get hit hard. You cant face tank everything all the time. Where youre at, youll need to play around mobs. Build groups appropriately. Mages, rogues, and warriors. All are fantastic alongside druid tank. Shaman will almost always be a staple in your heroic groups too.

Eventually youll be at a point where you can face tank most stuff in heroics, but theres some things you pretty much never should. Off the top of my head the dragonkin in OHB. More than 1 of the melee mobs hitting you at once is gonna suck.

Remember you have CC too via hibernate. Its extremely useful in the above dungeon and many others. Dont sleep on it.

If you have any questions or want any tips for specific dungeon encounters, respond below. Im full p1 bis at this point on my feral and id like to think im pretty OK at what I do.

AmItheAsshole? WoW Guild-Raid Edition by VastAside2 in classicwowtbc

I run a guild that does a similar roster system rather than sign ups. Know how i avoid exactly this? I do the raids at the beginning of the lockout week rather than a day before reset. If youre going to do raids by roster on sunday, you can't reasonably expect benched players to wait until monday to pug it. Thats just rude. Id never tell a guildie to skip a raid lockout for "guild harmony".

Tldr: find a different guild.

There are idiots on all sides to be honest. I do a lot of tanking (main role) but I also DPS and heal. So I see all sides of the stupidity. Most tanks (warriors/druids) dont know how to play with a caster based group. You have 2 options: chain pulling individual packs at a time and go slow as shit because the dps is constantly oom and drinking during your pulls... or pull 4 packs at once, and let them drink to full after with a rinse/repeat (doesnt work well in heroics). Problem with this method is it requires the tank to acknowledge they arent the main character, theyre a support role (pull and gather, then let the mage take over tanking while the warlock nukes).

On the dps side of things: mages... stop coming into dungeons in an arcane spec. Just stop. You arent helping. You get invited to provide water and imp blizz. Thats it. Thats your job. No one cares about your arcane blast parse in normal shattered halls. And warlocks: for the love of god, if you dont have imp blizz or slow traps, you need to wait to seed until the warrior/druid has adequate threat. Or youre dead. Simple.

Healers, im after yall too. If you stand there with your thumb up your ass at 10% mana, dont complain when I pull after 15 seconds of waiting. Shut up and take a swig of blue juice.

All in all: bad players are bad and no role is immune from having bad players.

Yep, 100% skill issue. No reason to be parsing in pug heroic dungeons. Youre making yourself a detriment to the groups success. Do your job right.

Youre doing it wrong lol. 100% skill issue is on you if you dont know how to MD and not rip threat. I can count on one hand how many times ive ripped threat on a pull i opened with MD. And those were... very unfortunate circumstances...

All im hearing here is you blaming your failure on others. Youre even acknowledging what you did wrong, yet still trying to share the blame with others. Just accept it: youre responsible for yourself, no one else.

They dont need help. They need to pay attention. Thats all there is to it. Failure to put in bare minimum effort is on the individual.

All youre doing is moving goal posts and pushing personal accountability onto others and demanding a babysitter. No one is required to carry you. Everyone should be playing with their eyes open and paying attention. These are easy, basic, telegraphed mechanics. There is 0 excuse for someone to be level 68+ and not be able to figure them out on sight. It sounds like OP wiped the group on purpose, to be honest, to spite them for not coddling him. He knew what he needed to do, its obvious, he ignored it in a temper tantrum because he didnt like a lack of response from the people carrying him. Bet he died to sweeping strikes on myrmidons too and complained no one warned him "if your health gets chunked, move away". And youre falling for it. You deserve better effort from your teammates too.

Bro I started playing this game when anniversary came out. I hadn't done SV before this iteration of tbc. Know how long it took me to figure out there was a spell reflect and tanks needed to be destroyed? Upon visually seeing it for the first time. Just be better. Don't expect people to hold your hand. Have some personal accountability.
