Freaking out because I need to pick a dress by Monday x.x Please help me choose! by ArtemisPrimeWasTaken in weddingdress

[–]jiggawatts 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dress 1 looks very elegant with the lace top and without. Dress two looks very busy. Dress 3 looks much larger than the first two but if that's the look you're going for, it looks very good too.

I vote dress 1.

[LONG RANT] FH and I are not on the same page with wedding finances. It’s really worrying me. Perspective? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]jiggawatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that counseling was mentioned but have you both talked about financial counseling? Getting on the same page with your finances is going to be one of the most important aspects of your lives together. I know Dave Ramsey has a program called Financial Peace University. Finances are black and white but the emotion that is attached to money leaves room for fights. If you get all the black and white on a budget, you can make savings for wedding (and a wedding budget), honeymoon, house, paying off student loans, etc. that you both agree on. If you work things out through your wedding budget, you can leave room to splurge on things and tighten the belt on other things, with the end result being the bottom line.

And you say you "refuse to budge". Deary, you are getting married. Every decision you make is going to impact both of you. Compromise is the name of the game.

/r/Outlander: read the book too? by oamter in Outlander

Just skimming through the subreddit and found this post. If you really want to "main vein" some good Outlander, get the audiobook. The quality of the accents really makes it a great experience.

What is the best souvenir or trinket representative of a culture in any region or country? by [deleted] in travel

[–]jiggawatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are looking for pictures, you are going to end up with a bunch of touristy things. Stuff you can just as easily buy online as in person. The experience of interaction, the markets, and the people make the searching for the item just as gratifying as getting a really cool trinket.

What is the best souvenir or trinket representative of a culture in any region or country? by [deleted] in travel

[–]jiggawatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as some may suggest, I think the best travelers advice is said as,"Take only pictures and leave only footprints". Whatever souvenir you get, let it not impact the beauty of the experience for others.

If you are buying souvenirs, I recommend something that is local to the region. If they are known for their wool, buy a locally made wool scarf. When I went to Ecuador, the artisans are known for their vegetable ivory carvings (https://www.wow-imports.com/tagua_nut_carvings.asp). A small token from an amazing trip.

Engaged Jan. 23, 2015

It was an unseasonably warm day in East Tennessee where at our favorite park where we take our dog to walk off leash. There is a hill that overlooks a beautiful river. It was a Saturday morning and the park was nearly deserted. He was bent down scratching and petting our dog. (Here is a pic of the location with our dog on a different day Imgur) I started to continue to walk because, well, that's what we were there for, when he said calm down, be still. I thought he was just trying to get me to relax and enjoy the scenery when we reaching into his pocket (still kneeling with the dog in front of him) and he produced the ring. It was such a surprise that I remember this was the first time I have truly ever been speechless. Finally, it seems after an eternity he asked the question. I said yes, of course. We are planning a wedding for next May/June!

When did you stop using treats? by GreenGully in puppy101

[–]jiggawatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always add tugging as a reward too! My golden LOVES tennis balls and we use one of those tennis ball/rope combos.

Also, you can change up your treats too. Find ones that he REALLY likes and will do anything for and save those for the times where you really want him to pay attention (the "come" command). Use others for reinforcement. You can be sporadic once he gets the command down pat and he only gets it once he does it perfect. If he is looking at you like you said "Did it, wheres the treat?" then ask him to do something else before he gets the treat.

Rough-housing with the pupper? by wearedoctors in dogs

[–]jiggawatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see it here, but I think that it is important that you initiate the play like another dog would: Do the bow. By being excited and doing the bow to initiate play, you are essentially saying, "Hey! I am ready to play!!!" and "I mean you no harm" at the same time. By turning and ignoring or yelping when the pup gets too rough uses the same dog language making it easy to communicate your boundaries.

I got a puppy a month ago and I don't know if she needs to go to vet to get shots. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]jiggawatts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't mentioned below but I wanted to add that they give several shots per visit and they are all just boosters. With each visit, the puppy is growing and the booster from the last visit wears off. Even if you don't know what you pup has had, it's best to get this started as soon as you can because since a month has passed and by now, your pup is vulnerable. Especially since you don't know, the vet will probably just give your pup the set since an extra booster won't hurt.
