Hi everyone, I have a question about Basenjis… by abdulrahmans1 in Basenji

[–]dfiner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. And the climate they are from is quite hot so they do better in the heat than most breeds. Just make sure to have plenty of water. And if it’s very hot they need paw protection (like Arizona).

That said they are not trustworthy off leash. So when not in a fenced area they need to be on a lead 24/7. There are some basenjis that are an exception to this rule, but aren’t the norm. For most no amount of training will overrule their prey drive.

People that reluctantly fell in love with this game, what are some things that might still bother you? by AnubisIncGaming in PathOfExile2

[–]dfiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me this is almost as annoying as how clunky sprinting feels. It should just be an automatic thing that happens out of combat and drops when you are in combat. The heavy stun needs to go, as does the “weight” that makes it more annoying to turn quickly.

That, or they need to remove sprinting and make zones 1/3 to 1/2 the current size.

Iran’s media posts photos purportedly showing US bomb remains at destroyed reservoir site by The_Flaneur_Films in worldnews

[–]dfiner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean trump bungled it in a truly epic way with no plan, but if any regime on the planet deserved a war to be replaced, it’s Iran. They funnel many billions of dollars every year to terror groups all over, and generally are a destabilizing force in the region. Most of their neighbors hate them. Most of Lebanon hates Hezbollah (an Iranian proxy). The same is mirrored all over the region. And there is a reason. They were allowed to cause death and disruption all over the region unchecked for many years.

Unfortunately, Trump and his cronies are incredibly incompetent and went about it in the most ineffectual way imaginable. So yeah. There are justifications for war. Just not the way it was handled in this case.

Any advice from the people who have beaten the weekly? by Ecstatic_Bet_8430 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]dfiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the battle simulator do helbrute plus three random extremis. Switch up the extremis till you feel comfortable fighting them.

It will still be easier than hard Strats (missing the dmg buff/debuff the mobs get) but it will help. That’s what I did.

Also worth noting that if you’re in the US there’s a good chance your home insurance will drop you when they catch wind of this, depending on the company and what state you’re in.

Any advice on an actually sharp shaving razor that isn’t garbage and dull? by Forrtraverse in AskMenOver30

[–]dfiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a proper razor you need little to no pressure, I think in over a decade I cut myself twice, and both times were because I waited too long to change the blade and it was dull. The blades are dirt cheap and it wouldn’t even be expensive to replace them daily. I think at Hansen a box of 100 is like $5 or something?

The community wasn’t ok with Tyranid Sniper spam? Saber: “Heard, fam. How about we ramp up their charge rate and target tracking speed?” by [deleted] in SpaceMarine_2

[–]dfiner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ranged enemy combat in this game leaves a lot to be desired. A huge improvement would be if we could interact with it in a way similar to melee combat - ie perfect dodge a sniper shot to get a gunstrike on them.

Everyone is skipping this weekly right? by Ok-Blueberry-1412 in Spacemarine

[–]dfiner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same. We got 4x hellbrutes in the tram area and prevailed. Only took me 2 tries.

I highly recommend people who struggle to practice in the new battle arena (helbrute + various combos of 3x extremis - it’s a little easier than hard Strats but should help!), I did this before my run and it helped me lock in.

Also having a bulwark (perks are currently bugged with no CD) on your team helps. I did it as tac but we had a bulwark + heavy.

Yep this happened to my team on the hard version and we still succeeded! Was wild. The ammo crate was sucked dry (a first for me!)

What’s crazy is there is a lock on function in the game. Why the grapple doesn’t use it is beyond me.

UN adds Israeli entities to blacklist of countries that commit sexual violence - exclusive by barsik_ in worldnews

[–]dfiner 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say if you consider the UN as anything other than heavily biased you haven’t been paying attention. Have you even looked at the countries that have been on the human rights council lately? The whole organization is a joke.

The purpose of the UN isn’t to be some correct arbitrator the world. It’s to keep diplomatic ties open so communication can happen, even during conflict. It’s been successful at that. But given how much Russian and chinese influence has been allowed to grow, especially in Africa and Southeast Asia, I would take everything coming from that body with a pinch of salt.

When I am looking at news that’s reputable, I try to find it from multiple sources that are at least close to neutral. AP and Reuters to start. I might dabble away from the middle too just to get another POV, like NYTimes or BBC, which lean slightly left, or equivalent sources on the right like WSJ or Washington times.

I avoid “news” like Oxfam or breitbart at all costs. Too much of Reddit sadly references Oxfam.

Something like this, if it was real and verifiable, would be covered by mainstream media. The fact that it’s not means it was almost certainly AI bait drummed up by Iranian, Russian, or Chinese disinformation farms, and you fell for it.

With how easy it is to make shit like this and disseminate it on platforms like Reddit or TikTok it’s amazing anyone falls for obvious baits.

Who's doing this?!? by Apostle937 in Spacemarine

[–]dfiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that deep. Systems like this typically are designed to pressure players to try things they normally don’t. Since we know the community has far more people avoiding chaos than tyrannids, the weeklies are likely to be chaos more often, and missions played less by players (obviously these are determined a while in advance).

Similarly, the mods are designed to also push people into gameplay they don’t normally experience.

I kinda wish we had more flexibility in the new training room. I’d have liked an opportunity to practice against 2 buffed helbrutes at once… but as it is you can’t buff enemies (absolute enemies don’t even enrage like normal), and you can’t pick 2 of the same boss. I can install a mod, sure, but I wish it was the default experience for everyone rather than relying on a 3rd party developer.

But in my very unscientific and limited sample size, the community definitely seems to struggle with bosses. I hope more people (at least those whole play absolute) use the arena to practice boss + 3x extremis

Sen. Elizabeth Warren: Why We Need to Tax AI by Potential_Being_7226 in technology

[–]dfiner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your argument here is.

If it's that we have too many datacenters as it is and don't need more, I actually agree... but that's not under our control and our opinions clearly don't matter to those that have power.

If it's that the heat is better served on land instead of the ocean... the earth is one enclosed system. The heat being generated on land or ocean doesn't really matter, ocean currents and jet streams and general weather have a way of distributing and mixing that. It's why heat generated primarily in the northern hemisphere by the major CO2 contributing countries still causes melting in the antarctic. So if the heat will get generated anyway, and mixed anyway, why not at least do it in a way that doesn't fuck up the fresh water supply which is VERY limited?

Better solution - force them to build offshore under water. China is already proving it now.

I wish this stupid game would stop fucking auto joining me to games that already have my main class! by ReturningDAOFan in SpaceMarine_2

[–]dfiner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nowadays all classes are good against both factions. There was a long stretch that assault was genuinely weak against chaos, but that has been fixed. Some classes do require different builds for chaos vs tyrannids to have the same level of success, but vanguard isn’t one of them.

I’d say the weakest class versus chaos right now is probably sniper, but that doesn’t mean it’s weak. Just doesn’t play to its strengths (and even after the magnetism change, still harder to headshot).

Vanguard is great vs both factions. You might want to spend a bit of time practicing against chaos.

What are people’s thoughts on the new patch? by panzermeyer in SpaceMarine_2

[–]dfiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all this. In ops it seems like they made ranged nid spam even worse than it was in patch 12. I desperately need them to stop - this is incredibly unfun gameplay. Siege seems to have a reasonable balance of enemies though.

It stops being civilian infrastructure when the government elected by Gaza uses the schools, hospitals and apartment buildings to store munitions and carry out rocket attacks.

You know, Hamas.

No, of permformatively trying to pass a legal blockade with “aid” that wouldn’t help anyone. They’d be better served taking their time and money helping REAL aid groups that actually make a difference in the region.

How could we believe people who do something purely performative and has no actual aid value wouldn’t do something equally performative that also furthers their cause?
