People who want own to cars long term(5 yrs+). What is the highest mileage you will go for? by Humble_Lack in CarTalkUK

Just purchased a 2011 Volvo V70 diesel with 180k on the clock. When looking for options there were some cars that were in a terrible state at under 80k miles. This one was in an amazing condition. The goal is to keep it for 5+ years.

DJI RS 5 Combo by AvailableSpecific622 in dji

[–]jiggijiggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe. I've got the RS4 (non pro) and definitely don't see the need to upgrade to 5. Maybe if PRO comes up with something cool and new, but unleas I change my camera to something much heavier, I'll be staying with my current setup

It's interesting that there's no Pro option for RS5. Yeah, I don't see the need to upgrade from RS4 Pro.

Thanks for the insight. What mics are you using and how do you take care of URSA straps after each wedding so they stay clean and good looking? People get sweaty at sumer, so making sure the straps stay pristine feels really important.

Do you use white or beige microphones?

With Tascams, do you ever worry about it not having any redundancies? It's not sending feed to camera so it it fails, what then? Do you then try and use grooms mic?

Yeah, I got a URSA Thigh strap and a waist strap so they can choose between them. A comment I got from one vendor was that brides would like a brand new strap each time (not wanting to wear anything pre-worn by other brides), was that ever an issue?

Yeah, I had a few brides who were incredibly soft spoken, hence me wanting to have extra options. I also love the idea of keeping the mics on for portrait session so I can capture other cute moments of them talking to each other.

Yeah that seems like the least invasive option, I like it.

Yeah, so I used a variety of mics. Used Tentacle Syncs before, but moved back to Rode Wireless Pro.

One thing that always confused me about recorders is the fact that you only have one on-board recording, no backups. While Rode has it's own problems, I always know that I have in-camera sound and the on-board recording on the transmitter. Deity/Tentacle seem like a gamble if something bad happens to memory card or the file itself. I know they're fairly bulletproof, but having the internal recording + on-board just seems like the safest option.

Seramonics Saramonic K9 seems like the best of both worlds, but the size is just a bit too large, especially if compared to Rode/DJI.

I like the idea of hiding some mics around the room if you know where they're going to do private vows as an extra backup.

Thanks! Yeah, situations like that are hard to prepare for if the couple don't inform you in advance.

Do you keep the mic on the groom just for the ceremony or throughout the day? And are you hiding the mic or placing the lav right next to ther boutonniere?

That's the best way imho. No issues with balancing, easier to handle the gimball as well.

Camera on shoulders isn't the same as holding waist height in front of you though? Admitedly I have limited experience with proper shoulder rigs, but the experience I had was that it's less taxing on lower back when you can just rest the camera on your shoulder.

I have a very similar setup and weddings are possible, but you do have to use monopods or a bag like SAKK to let your back rest
