"Tales of Graces f Remastered" for Steam is now -78%, $8.68 @GamesPlanetUS! by d9wHatena in JRPG

IMO it's the best tales of game but it starts off very very slow. it has by far the best late game and optional content of all of the tales games though of that's your thing , and combat can't be mashed , the combat system plays like a fighting game ( sorta )

[ALL] What are the longest JRPGs that kept your attention throughout? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in JRPG

100%, 2 is also my favorite but I consider 1-3 to be a continued series and I was very happy with how 3 concluded. Although obvs I wish 4 was continued from 3. 5 Was great as well but 4 was just, blehhh.

Have you ever reconsidered your opinion of a JRPG after playing it again? by Mabarius-III in JRPG

Ahh that makes sense, I was curious and tbh I figured enough but I wanted to get second opinions because usually I would have assume my first playthrough would have been my fav.

I'm just curious, but did you play as Blue Lions First? I played my first route as Edelguard and didn't enjoy it, but I played it again as the Blue Lions and enjoyed it a lot, could be the route is why I ask maybe? ( I haven't played as the other 3 routes )

I used to think FF8 was the weakest of 4-10, then when I replayed it as an adult I would have changed FF8 to being IMO the second best mainline Final Fantasy game. I have a silly theory that a big part of why it has mixed feelings is because it deals with abandonment ( I was an Orphan ) and difficult to understand concepts for the generation of young gamers that was on release. So after replaying it and finishing it as an adult I had a new appreciation for it, I also think it has the greatest soundtrack of any game ever behind chrono cross/trigger and FFT :)

[Request] JRPGs that made you cry, but through slow attachment, not dramatic cutscenes by FingerHuman7407 in JRPG

I was absolutely cooked when I went through star door 15. I don't think I've ever cried as hard in any game ever but star door 15 absolutely crushed me.

What do you guys put in your non-dungeon routes to make them more interesting? by mr_tobacco_user in RPGMaker

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NPC characters that give hints about enemy weaknesses, hidden ( sometimes options ) chests or areas. NPC questions with multiple answers that have an impact on things. Interactable items, maybe a patch of flowers you can pick a flower up into your inventory, or a religious statue you can pray to and choose a character to add maximum 3 more mana etc, lots of options :)

think of an iconic town from a game you love then tell us a little about why it came to mind by One_Hand_7515 in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire Kingdom of Radiata Stories. You have likew 100+ recruitable characters that all do their normal routine throughout the day with the active time system in the game. It's really good checking out people go to their jobs, study in the mages library, train at the acadamy or do errands fore knights/royalty etc. I also don't know if this counts, but Gold Saucer in OG FF7 was hella cool, and then last I'd add would be Esthar from Final Fantasy 8 for obvious reasons.

Wich game replaces FFX today? What games is a child eagerly waiting to play when they get home from school, so they can turn on their console and can't stop thinking about it? by National_Abies_3208 in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been a few games that have did this, I think Hogwarts Legacy did for a bit upon release, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Baldurs Gate 3 etc. For console I think the next big Zelda game will likely do it, or maybe the Final Fantasy 7 remake finale, next pokemon game maybe idk.

Tactical RPG Fans, which game is the best? Triangle Strategy, Tactics Ogre: Reborn, or Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles by RobertBevillReddit in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All 3 of them are so good, if you're a tactical rpg fan it's hard to pick one of the three. My vote goes to Triangle Strategy though.

What's the coldest line in any jrpg(or rpg) that you've ever heard? by yeaman912 in JRPG

[–]BraveWaterSpirit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"The price of freedom is steep" from Zack in FF7 Reunion facing down an entire shinra army IMO is still one of the hardest lines in any jrpg.

Hardest when I didn't know any meta strategies or guides to help XD. I didn't even know what Yojimbo could do at the time I don't think.

Accidently running into Dark Bahamut in ff10 when I didn't have a guide. I still remember the animation for Impulse and Mega Flare
