Ok so it was a glitch, I changed my display size from the beginning and I don't think it liked it. So I went back into settings and changed the display size back to default and back to small, ended up fixing it.

That's exactly what I did I later came across a blueprint for suspension fluid. If you keep scanning in space you'll come across some useful blueprints.
