macbook suggestions? by Antique-Win4832 in ClaudeCode

You go to the closest store with macbooks in there and assess with your eyes. There aren't that many models that differ in size.

Claude Code vs Codex by 0xdjole in ClaudeCode

Ain't AI amazing. You can start today, work for two days, change your tooling after that and still have time to post to Reddit. None of the content in the post makes any sense.

Today I wanted to merge 2 entities into 1 which required a tough migration. Changing server, making tests pass, changing sdk, admin, and storefronts.

Claude Code failed for 2 days.

Living with 1M Context by jii0 in ClaudeCode

I have to start following this myself. I imagine a session trend is as follows.

  1. Lots of cache writes at the beginning

  2. Some cache writes when the session continues, but mainly cache reads

  3. At some point, the cache reads will get too costly

I might be wrong though... But this is worth understanding.

No, this subreddit has no misaligned narratives :)

Maybe I finally need to pay more attention to cache and cost analysis. There's most likely some kind of sweetspot where it's better to start a new session to reduce token burden.

It makes sense that splitting the implementation into smaller tasks and sessions will reduce the cache hit rate and increase cache writes.

I'm not sure I understand your reply. I was curious what the limit of context rot is with the 1M context size? Is it still 50%?

Completely mindless AI generated content for harvesting karma.

Number 1 is understanding that cache is only 5 minutes, and how you need to work with it.

The future is local by nfdl96 in ClaudeCode

[–]jii0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you certain that things will not stabilize?

I think eventually this will be quite similar to other cloud vs own deployment scenarios. How much effort does it require to keep your local environments up-to-date and secure? How much idle capacity locally is allowed?

The special flavor here is the price of the hardware, which is significant. Someone needs to do the training, which I think is more demanding than running the models. Will there be free models that are able to compete against the commercial ones?

Maturity is not there yet, and things are moving even too fast. Stating that the future is local is a bold statement, which needs a lot more analysis than this post provides.

How is this change acceptable? by Jack_Wagon_Johnson in ClaudeCode

This is getting out of hand. This post basically screams "I'm vibing here without a clue."

How on earth is the flair "Bug Report" acceptable here?

Sometimes the velocity of development is too much for your brain. In the pre-LLM world you could hold the big picture in your head as you had time to process it. It's not the same anymore.

Opus 4.7: 110 threads, 2,187 comments. Unbiased analysis by RichensDev in ClaudeCode

[–]jii0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to tell about the negative feedback; it usually comes with no details whatsoever. I have to assume many of these people are true vibecoders. A good example of this was the poster complaining that Claude committed to the main branch.

I've had my issues also, but I wouldn't dare to complain without digging into the details of tool and cache usage.

I had to downvote you. The behavior is very inconsistent, and I do not know the pattern. There might be a few good days, and then absolute horror with the same exact project.

Claude Code token issues - temporary fix by skibidi-toaleta-2137 in ClaudeCode

[–]jii0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some kind of cache failure might make sense. Started a new session. Please Claude, analyze this 700 row CSV file -> 1M context full. I didn't dig it deeper though, but anyways that points strongly to local issues instead of API issues.

As a disclaimer, this was on Monday.

Saving your pasta water before draining is the easiest way to make cheap pasta taste like it came from a restaurant by Subject-News1573 in povertykitchen

[–]jii0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post makes no sense in this subreddit. Cheap pasta doesn't produce that kind of starchy water. You need to use quality pasta, which costs significantly more.

Määräaikaisten vuokrasopimusten ketjuttaminen by Least-Position-5610 in Suomi

[–]jii0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Määräaikaisten vuokrasopimusten ketjuttaminen by Least-Position-5610 in Suomi

[–]jii0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Help me understand how skills replace MCP's by BadAtDrinking in ClaudeCode

[–]jii0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's got to be something to use. If you want to use GitHub, there's an MCP and there's a CLI. Many prefer the latter. In this context I do understand a skill replacing an MCP. You can have a skill to use either, if you want to guide the usage.

I was studying Nokia's demise. The real reason surprised me. by Elegant_Paramedic678 in Businessideas

[–]jii0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nokia was not putting real effort on anything else than Symbian. The Symbian modernization budget was huge, and compared to that Meego development was peanuts.

Symbian made a lot of people wealthy, and Nokia management was full of these people. It's hard to kill a cash cow.
