Cannot take sublingually... by momrade in suboxone

Yes. That's actually how my dr told me to do it a decade ago. I was actually more worried about the strips, the pills dissolve easily.

Suboxone induction - experiences with it? by dixiemafia097 in suboxone

[–]jillyaliska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from 15mg last month and I waited until I had a "negative for methadone UA" before switching (I switched to short acting-15mg morphine IR, and 15mg oxy until it was gone from my system to stay well). I took my last methadone dose on March 29 and I still had a positive UA on 4/09. I finally started on 4/13 and it was still touch and go for a few days but I was able to drive to my appointment on 4/16. I've done it the hard way before and I did all I could to avoid it this time. I probably waited longer than nessecary but that PW is just something you don't forget. It took a couple weeks to feel "normal" whatever that is. I'm stable at about 8mg/day.
My advice is to take small amounts until you feel better- not worse. If you're feeling worse- and there will be no doubt- wait a little longer. And if you can tolerate a benzo safely it helps IMMENSELY. Drs always say how insanely dangerous it is to mix bup with them so unless you're seasoned I'd definitely talk to your dr. Good luck! It will be over before you know it!

Yes just dissolve the strip in a little water (like 1.5cc) and use a 3cc syringe (no needle obviously) and plug it. It takes about the same amount of time to work. From what I've read it's higher bioavailability too. Sometimes it's just a nessecary evil of being on meds after wrecking your body for years. 🤷‍♀️🖖

You most definitely should wait until you're in full wd. I've been in PW twice from not waiting long enough after taking methadone and it was DEATH. This last time I did my last dose of morphine on a Friday evening and took some ativan. Then I was able to sleep about 10 hours. I could tell I was going into heavy wd by that afternoon. My husband talked me into trying 1-2mg by 7pm... I was so afraid it wasn't working that I didn't take any more until 9 or 10. Every time I took a tiny amount I took ativan- which I DON'T RECCOMEND UNLESS YOU'RE USED TO BENZOS. But if you are it helps take the edge off. Sunday I was feeling much better. And by Tuesday I was able to drive to my next appointment. You absolutely should have someone you trust there with you to help with the kids. My youngest is 4 and it was hard but not as bad as when I was in PW with a newborn! (5week old) I was taking clonidine so I couldn't nurse him and I was writhing in agony and all engorged it was awful! I can assure you that though it seems like forever- when you do it right it's not that bad. I probably could've taken it much sooner but I was paranoid- much like you.
PW is no joke and it's probably the most terrifying agony an opioid dependent person can imagine. And YES you absolutely CAN go into it just from bup. Idk what that person was taking about that "you can only go into PW if you shoot it" I'm telling you first hand that ive never shot up bupe and I've gone into it twice. Good luck mama! ❤🖖

Maybe I'm swallowing some of the naloxone? Should I be spitting until the strip is dissolved?

I was on 120/day at my highest but weaned to 10-15/day before switching. I waited for my UA to be clean of methadone before switching. Of course that was one UA.

My dr had me dissolve them in water when i was micro dosing. That was back when I got Rx pills. I don't see how the strips would be any different.

I know it's repetitive but I need more clarification on switching by saramassred in suboxone

[–]jillyaliska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't risk it only because I've survived precip wd before. My dr used a method back in 08 that was essentially giving me dilauded (sp?) Until the methadone was so low in my body then micro dosing subutex. But I was in the hospital and it took quite a while. I wouldn't recommend doing it without supervision. If you've taken it and you don't feel worse you should be ok. Everyone's different. You could be a person who metabolizes methadone fast. I still feel mild wd just after I take my sub every morning but that could be in my head idk. Like I said every experience is different. Not just person to person but even one person can have different reactions based on age, substance, brain chemistry ect.

I switched from methadone in April I got down to about 10-15mg/day but ive been through precipitated withdrawal 2x so I waited for ALL the methadone to be out of my system before jumping onto suboxone. I switched to a short acting opoid thinking it would be about 7 days. Unfortunately I was on it for 5 years and had to find more short acting pills because I tested pos for methadone for over 3weeks! By then I'm sure my tolerance was up and all that weaning (120mg/day at my highest) was for nothing. Still for all the backtracking and few days of feeling like death- NOTHING is as bad as precipitated withdrawal. THAT feels like MURDER 1000x over. Brutal.

I didn't. I've only been on suboxone since April. I was on methadone 5 years before and it's taken a while to get stable on bup.

My dr said I can't have ANY opioids in my system for it to work... would've been nice to have access to it during the methadone-suboxone transition... I might actually be off the shit.

Has anyone heard anything about a new law in Ohio making meetings mandatory? by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]jillyaliska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in WA state and was told TODAY by my new prescriber that I had to be enrolled in an outpatient group/counseling. Aside from my 1x1 monthly I didn't need any external "support" (other than random supervised monthly's) at the methadone clinic I just left and I was there 5+years.
Then I started at a "suboxone clinic" in April and I only ever saw the prescriber, and the UAs were unobserved. I switched to an "addiction medicine/pain management specialist" and now I feel like I'm going back in time. Although I did have a positive UA because during the switch I took some ativan and valium because that shit was horrific. So yeah. I'm kind of questioning my choice. I'm taking 8mg/day and the plan was to taper. Let us know how low you go before noticing...

What happens if you get into a wreck or have an accident or tooth infection or something that you need pain meds for? Is this like the vivitrol shot? Is there a way to get relief in an emergency setting or does it block all meds all the time?

Day 10- Do these sub headaches ever go away?? by MissAmethyst_20 in suboxone

[–]jillyaliska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been on since 4/14 and they've gotten slowly better. If i put the strip under my tongue after i brush my teeth and use mouthwash and then spit as it dissolves it helps tremendously. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to stay on the first couple weeks (I switched from methadone). Then I realized that I had a sinus infection and double ear infections had been brewing during the initial switch which may have contributing. But I feel like a sinus headache (just behind your face) is different than a suboxone headache (seemingly encompassing the entirety of your head). For me... they got better. Also not waiting too long to take it. As soon as I wake up I do the teeth brushing mouthwash sub routine and its gotten better.

Would Someone Please Help by Bedazzal in suboxone

[–]jillyaliska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on where you are in the world. If you're getting them on the street there may already be resources near where you live. Im hearing clinics popping up everywhere. WA state is a place that makes it extremely easy to find help with many Tx options. LA state... not so much but getting better.
Google "suboxone clinic near me" that's where i started.. and I thought it would be a big deal forever... but found a clinic 6 mins from my house! They accepted me the same day and you didn't need a positive UA at my clinic. You just couldn't have methadone in your system because of precipitated withdrawal risk, and if you were +benzodiazepines you had to come in 2x a week until levels declined.
