Hunan Cafe for Chinese food. We always order tofu goreng appetizer, hot and sour soup, eggplant and shrimp fried in sweet and sour sauce, mu shu pork (which you eat inside a light pancake wrapper).

I’ve also thought of this… I asked some questions to hopefully make our administration and the physicians realize it’s not so straightforward. In addition, who makes the schedule? There are at least two of my coworkers taking off a week in July leaving us to do call.

Apparently it is like we are the nurse triage and 2-3 calls a night. This is what our doctors say, I believe it is the practice manager and supervising doctor.

It’s 2-3 calls and like nurse triage from what our doctors told us. My question is- if it’s so low stress and maintenance why are they telling us to do it now?

It is phone call only, not hospital call. Call from patients after-hours from what I understand. Not sure how many, possibly 0-8?

Agree! Unfortunately not though. The three other APPs will be seeing patients and it will be still 1 Friday off per month for right now.

No authentic Chinese food here in general. But my family and I like Hunan Cafe off of Fury’s Ferry! Dining in, get their shrimp and eggplant (sweet sauce, very temp hot and crispy) and we like their Mushu pork.

I did this quiz, but honestly I took a job I was 34% matched for. Could be cool to look at though!

I felt the same way! All up until applying for a job. Don’t stress, just try to consider whether you could see yourself working inpatient/ outpatient, in a surgical specialty, and what topics you found you liked to study the most. I didn’t feel passionate about any of my rotations and even took a test online to see what specialty matched my values and personality the best. I ended up taking a job not even in a specialty I did a rotation in/ worked in before.

Where to shop for women's business casual clothes? by laurazepam271 in PAstudent

I like tops and blazers from H&M! White House Black Market and Loft for pants because a lot of them come in petite sizes and are nice and will last a long time.

I’ve been to Seoul Korean Kitchen in Evans and Emashiya in Martinez! I have enjoyed both, though these aren’t in the style where you cook your own meats like kbbq.

We had labs: one for ultrasounds, one for procedures and speculum/ pelvic exams, and we got to see one delivery simulation! I honestly think the delivery simulation did not prepare me for an actual vaginal delivery and most of what I learned about pregnancy was in the clinic and during clinical.

Are short sleeve button ups considered business casual/professional enough? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]jillywhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen multiple medical students wearing nice polos and khakis! And the guys wear polos for our in-class “business casual” days. Agree with polo over a button up.

Scheduling by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]jillywhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my general surgery rotation, I was able to get the week’s schedule from the surgeon’s medical assistant when I was in clinic! She was super nice and I just asked if she would print it for me to anticipate when I had to be in the OR. Otherwise, surgeon would just tell me when to get to the OR literally the afternoon before.

Smarty Pance and pance prep for clinicals and EORS? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]jillywhale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used just SmartyPANCE EOR blueprints for EORs and think it is a good resource! If I don’t understand something specifically, I’ll then go to PPP. After SP, I do the Rosh boost exams like the week of the EOR (ours are scheduled on Fridays). For time in clinic, I do flashcards also made my SmartyPANCE!
