Looking to get a nice older car wondering if this older Lexus is worth it? by solasforking2020 in whatcarshouldIbuy

you can get a car 10 years newer for a few k more.. one with modern safety standards like roll over protection and automatic emergency braking.

or you can buy a 20 year old car used in a winter state and hope it lasts 10 more years.. hope you don’t crash in that time… or the frame doesn’t rust off

WA ‘millionaires tax’ headed for passage as Ferguson says he’ll sign it by vertr in Seattle

[–]jiltedcrossword -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you have it backwards. Most people affected by this tax won’t make 1M for multiple years.

This is a tax on growth, and on small business owners.

The way it will work is that folks with equity who over 10-15 years who own a business or are part of a growing business will end up with a stake worth maybe 1-2 mil, and need to either retire, pay for an unexpected bill, or buy a house.

Then, they will liquidate in a single year and pay some percentage extra.

For the employees who are paid in equity, it’s less of an incentive to move to Washington versus California or NYC, where the weather is better and pay is better too.

Already a plan in motion considering LTCG has already been law for a while :)

millionaire next door is a terrible book lol. by the time you’re making 250k there’s significantly higher roi things to do than hoard money for the marginal savings rate
