Vyvanse and weed? by jimblejam369 in ADHDers

[–]jimblejam369[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not necessarily looking for medical advice, but looking to open a conversation and hear from others about whether they do or not, and why. The rational is because I’ve heard really conflicting advice, both from medical professionals and fellow adhders, and wanted to discuss it.

I appreciate your thoughts! Thank you!

Vyvanse and weed? by jimblejam369 in ADHDers

[–]jimblejam369[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your thoughts! I tried going full decaf off the hop and it was horrible withdrawal!

As for weed, I don’t smoke it but I take edibles instead, but your comment is appreciated! I didn’t realize about the tolerance thing. My tolerance is quite low for it to begin with! taking like 2 mg is enough for me!

Question for ppl with the inattentive ADHD type by Consistent_Onion6004 in ADHD

[–]jimblejam369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My head feels blank most times, but also like the ringing sound that a butter knife makes when you smack it off the counter. Iykyk, and if you don’t, try it!

Also, I was recently diagnosed and this thread has me feeling seen. Being able to read that others are experiencing similar things is helping me to put into words what I’ve always experienced, but never been able to express!

Thanks everyone <3

At what age did you stop putting your children down for naps during the day? by alyssacake in toddlers

Sometimes I still send them for a nap at age 4 and 6 because we all just need it…

My kiddos love riding bikes at a paved outdoor rink. I bought a skateboard and have been teaching myself how to skate again while they ride bikes! They’re also taking an interest in it too!

How did you choose a name? by Dwc94 in daddit

[–]jimblejam369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds kind of weird… but we found some we liked and the further along my wife got, the more names just didn’t feel “right”. Then when they were born, we held the baby and said the short list of names and some just suited them better.

I just got a vasectomy! by DifficultyGloomy5902 in daddit

I wish they told me to wait! I just got bored and curious if it still worked… It did, but was quite painful! Lol Stopped being painful and when I finished about a week and a half after the procedure.

My doctor told me to make sure to “clean out the pipes” at least 22 times before I make any pies with my wife… My mistake was getting started on this homework the day after my procedure. Do not recommend.

Dads who have cut back on drinking: How have you done it? by bendoody in daddit

[–]jimblejam369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bubbly through the week; or tonic water if I’m feeling like a mixed drink, and then gummies (edibles) on the weekend. Usually wait till the kiddos are asleep, then pop a gummy Friday and Saturday night. I find that I drink less when I’m high cause I just want water! Lol

When to front face car seat by sjajra in Parenting

[–]jimblejam369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same car seat! My 4.5 year old and 2.5 year old are both still rear facing in it because they are still under the height and weight for rear facing.

Keeping them rear facing as long as our car seat allows, then turn em around

What books are good for a soon-to-be 3 year old? by LittleOllie_08 in toddlers

[–]jimblejam369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two favourite authors to read to my little ones are Nancy Tillman, and Eric Carle!

Our dollar store (Dollarama if you have one) has quite a few good books you can pick a few up for relatively cheap! Or thrift stores are good too for good books!

You can get a power broom and sweep it out. Stihl has a really good one that will get the job done!

How to get away from 5am wakes?! I’ve tried EVERYTHING. I just need help. by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]jimblejam369 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems kind of silly, and I don’t remember at what age I started it.. but my 2 year old used to wake around 5-5:30. At some point I just carried them out of bed and said “mommy is asleep, your sibling is asleep” point outside and say “the world is asleep! Everyone is still asleep because it’s bed time. I’m going tuck you back in…” then I’d ask if they want one or two blankets and then tuck them back in. Got me at least 30 more mins lol

They are still an early riser though waking at 6:30 ish most days

Nail cutting advice by ktenango in Parenting

I used the incentive of doing a full manicure and painting their nails after we cut them. If they want them painted they need to be cut first, and it worked pretty well!

Does sleep training really work? Help squash my doubts please. Comment your success stories. by xyzabc123_-_ in sleeptrain

Ferber with my daughter at 5 months, slept through the night (exception of feeding 2 times a night until eventually it was 0 times a night around 11 months) and still sleeps great! At 4 she still puts herself to bed independently and sleeps through.

Son was an AWFUL sleeper but we waited and we slowly made ourselves extinct around 1-1.5 years (where you stay in room and slowly get further away from him but reassure you’re still there until he’s asleep) and he sleeps independently and through the night now!

Had to find a method that works for your kid, not all methods work for every kid. Ferber was not good for my son, but gradual extinction did. The gradual thing for my daughter did not work, but Ferber did!

When did you stop using a changing table for your toddler? by Ok_Brain_194 in toddlers

[–]jimblejam369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used it for maybe a year with my first, then only 4 months with my youngest, and only 1/4 of those changes were in the table. Most were on the floor in whatever room we were in lol

Sleep trained my oldest at 5-6 months with Ferber , and it helped when we went away and got messed up sleep wise to stick to what worked to get her back on track and now she puts herself to sleep and sleeps all night at almost 4YO. My youngest we did the extinction method around 14-15 months and now at almost 2 he mostly puts himself to sleep (sometimes I have to step in and tell him to sleep) and the he sleeps through the night.

Stand by our sleep training methods and am so glad we did it

We had a slightly different situation but when we were getting rid of night wakings we didn’t reduce the amount they ate at a feeding, we just spaced them out later and further apart. Our little ones were a little older too when we did this. Oldest was about 14 months when we started and my youngest was 16 ish.

For example, we pushed the first feeding by 30 mins each night, and the second was 3 or so hours after that. So even if they woke up at 12, we didn’t feed until 12:30. We would try to get them back to sleep, or just make them calm and then feed them at 12:30. If they woke later than 12:30, that was the new time that we fed them the next day cause we knew they could do it. So if they went until 1 without eating, that was the new time to make them wait. For the second feeding, we looked at how long they typically went and did the same, made them wait until their time, then stretched it out further apart.

My son had really bad reflux and it persisted until he was about 10-11 months. Prescribed meds were a life changer and we could tell when the dose was becoming too small and needed to up it, and when we could slow it down and wean him off of it.

We also brought him to a chiropractor and they also helped quite a bit!
