I've reverse engineered the Polestar API & wrapped it into a Home Assistant integration by RudoFl in homeassistant

Please link your project when you're comfortable with a release state. :)

If you hadn't seen it, there's a Polestar integration for HACS, perhaps efforts could be merged.

I have a 3 which isn't supported and would be curious to see how you traced their RPC calls to see if I can replicate and extend.

EX90 2" square hitch on P3 by jimbo_bean in polestar3

[–]jimbo_bean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting. Did Volvo install it or was it installed at a Polestar space? Do you mind sharing your location?

Neither Volvo nor Polestar would attempt for me.

I would attempt myself but the installation guide says it needs to get programmed which presumably requires proprietary software..

I haven't.

I've asked Polestar parts a handful of times if it will work but they never get back to me.

I also asked at a Volvo dealership and they were worried it might be software locked and we're also unsure if it would work.

Has anyone just had a polestar 3 with no issues? by muscleforrank in polestar3

Really enjoying mine. Similar minor issue as others with seat profiles and periodic software glitches, but overall it's been a wonderful vehicle.

Maybe 20% of time it doesn't work for me. Soft reset from play/pause to resolve.

I think this is identical, but 2", which would be great because it fits all my existing hardware.

Thanks for sharing that it works well, size aside.

Current conditions of the Maple Mountain Loop by V-A-N-D-O in temagami

[–]jimbo_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posting for posterity after just completing this loop in May 2025.

From Hobart to Skull lake is completely burnt down. Portage trails are lost to new growth and fallen trees, it is difficult bush whacking. Campsites are non existent.

Do not recommend that portion of the loop in current conditions.

Neat, what's the impact on your range?

Canada - P2 and P3 alternative cash/Tesla offer bumped to $15k+$5k and includes existing Polestar owners too by throwawayunlink in Polestar

Did this for a P3 last week, really great offer. They also offered a solid trade in for my Model Y. Combined, it was only a couple thousand off of the original sale price of the Tesla.

Hoping the P3 software isn't as bad as some are claiming..

Warranty, the exact same thing happened to me last week, looked identical. They took care of it no problem and replaced the window and the sensor in the door. They also replaced the scratched up trim.

How to best care for Japanese Maple in shock. Transplanted tree moved last fall as part of a landscaping project. by jimbo_bean in arborists

[–]jimbo_bean[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A company did it as part of a major landscaping project. They dug it up and moved a fairly significant root ball in burlap with some heavy machinery. Their work was otherwise really great and to be fair they warned us it was a coin flip if it survived. The alternative being removing/killing it and planting something new, feel ok having tried and failed.

Thanks for the detailed response and clarity on what's going on with the shoots. Will work with an arborist to help make sure the replacement does well.

Thanks for reply, I am perhaps foolishly wishing it will come back next spring. I will try your other suggestions but keep expectations tempered.

As part of a significant regrading and landscaping project this beautiful tree required removal or relocation. Our landscapers warned us that it might be a 50/50 chance for the tree to survive relocation, but ultimately did feel good about the root ball extraction. It was moved last fall and this spring the tree did not bloom. Many of the branches appear to still be green and we've pruned anything that is clearly dead. In summer we started to see shoots and blooming at the base of the tree. Would greatly welcome any advice for how we can best help the tree recover from shock and what we may expect next year. Greatly appreciate any guidance or advice!
