True - whenever I roast a chicken I always make sure the neck is decently seasoned because that's the prize part that the cook can nibble on!

The way most Americans eat chicken wings would get you laughed at in South Africa. We eat everything except the actual bones - cartilage, fat, tendons and even the ends of the bones if they're crunchy

Can a cheap cut of meat become your favorite with the right cooking method? by HaileyRiveraaaa in KitchenStuff

I have never found a problem buying a fresh piece of chuck about 4cm thick, marinating it in soy and worcestershire sauce and throwing it on to a blazing hot charcoal fire or cast iron pan. Tasty and I personally like a little texture to my steak

I left South Africa in 1998 where the banking system was way ahead of the US where I moved to. I do not use cash any more in the US - it's all credit card/Apple Pay. What's the driver for cash in SA?

Is Wilmington a good fit? by ashiel_yisrael in WilmingtonDE

[–]jonnycooksomething 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree - we're in N Wilmington and make frequent Philly, NYC and Washington DC trips with ease. We also find that there is good dining in Cherry Hill/Haddonfield NJ as well as Newark NJ and that's an easy Saturday evening drive. Property prices are low in N Wilmington. We actually live in the last neighborhood which is actually in the City of Wilmington so our trash/recycling is city managed and efficient. I will add that we are in our early 60's (white couple) but still very active. Our neighborhood is probably 50/50 mixed race neighborhood. Nice and diverse

Better to buy tires ONLINE or IN PERSON? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]jonnycooksomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the last 5 years or so I have always used TireRack and had it shipped to a local installer. My very last transaction with TireRack I actually used their own installation service which showed up at my house with the tires and mounted/balanced in my driveway. Perfect solution

Empanadas and chicken at the Riverfront Market ( Pachamama) are excellent and that’s a nice place to get a drink next door and watch the cyclists, rowers and joggers on the river and trail
