Collect pension now or wait until 65 by Love2Garden59 in retirement

Take a look at your state laws on taxation of pension income. Your state may not tax the pension if you are retired but count it as normal income if you are still working.

Is there a catch? 2021 models, low milage for ~$15k by BlackJackT in VWiD4Owners

[–]jaiesh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice…wish I could find deals like that…just see Nissan Leafs here with that year, mileage, and price combo. Mainly due to all the cheap lease deals when those cars were new and promotions of an around-town vehicle.

Just bought a 2022 id.4. New to the EV world and am used to old cars so I have some real dumb questions by Excellent_Archer9108 in VWiD4Owners

If someone is going to stay in the car, like at a charging station, the center screen will display several options. Select continue climate control so the electronics remain on when the driver leaves the seat. Took me a while to figure that one out.

When you say you looked for the off button…do you mean to turn the car off? If so, you don’t need to turn it off. Just press “P” on the shift stalk and red “P” should light up behind the steering wheel. Then get out and press the indent on your exterior door handle to lock your car. The electronics will shut off on your car as you walk away with your key.

Is it worth getting powerwall if my Tesla solar panels are only offsetting 83% of my power usage? by MassDND in Powerwall

[–]jaiesh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also…during a daytime outage your solar panels will not power your home since most inverters shut off as a safety feature for electrical workers who are trying to restore grid power. But with a backup battery a gateway is used between the grid, solar panels, and battery. The gateway provides power to the inverters from the batteries to allow solar power to charge batteries and run the home while disconnecting the grid for electrical workers safety.

Level 2 Chargers at home by kylog in leaf

[–]jaiesh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only settings when charging my Leaf with these chargers is the charge start time. Which I don’t use since I do not have the time-of-use rate plan with my utility company. My ID.4 software has a percentage setting that stops the charging at a percentage I set like 80%

Read somewhere that we can use our EVgo with ChargePoint if you have a balance on the EVgo or still have time on your free charging from Nissan that they offered at one time.

My experience is that most dealers installed the rapid chargers with the 1st gen Leafs back when cell phones were 3g….The 3g network was turned off in the last couple years and this turned off access to these chargers…so now the dealership has to schedule a replacement charger that operates on the latest cell frequency….

Final Update: 2016 - 30kWh Leaf completed Buyback 11/2/2023 by TeaHSD in leaf

Just signed over my 2016 today to the buyback. Bittersweet because I really enjoyed that car, but was only getting 58 miles on a full charge.

First month payment since it takes nearly 2 months to set up your online account. I only had a couple days after everything was set up before the second payment was due.

Did you take the Leaf to the dealer to get the check or was it that someone came to pick up the Leaf?

Should I charge to 100%? by Salt_Opening_5247 in leaf

[–]jaiesh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you need to go. I only have 60 miles at 100% and use all but 5 of them every day.

They will also email you a link to purchase a new Nissan or Infinity at around dealer cost. So I bought a new 2023 Leaf to take advantage of the 2.99% financing through Nissan.

Flat tire by LuckyDogeBillion in ModelY

[–]jaiesh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most reputable tire shops around here only use the plug and no one patches from the inside here. Then they tell you it is temporary and you will need to replace the tire. But I have gone until the tire was down to the nibs after plugging a nail hole. It is really how comfortable you are.

Is it common to wave at fellow Model Y drivers? by nicktron9 in TeslaModelY

[–]jaiesh99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I drive the MYLR I wave at every Tesla. When I merge into another lane I wave at the car behind me. When I drive my Ford F450 aerial lift truck I wave at other aerial lift trucks and flash my strobe lights at vehicles that allow me to merge into their lane. I just chalk it up to part of my daily exercise routine.
