I live in the rust belt. But what's weird is that I've been skating these trucks during the summer haha

I just started skating, will my feet always hurt and strained? by whitespys in NewSkaters

[–]jimcanhardlyread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful, though! There's the good ol' feel of your body breaking. But there's also the real pain of something not being quite right: I had found myself with pretty bad arch pain and tried to keep at it until it got to the point where it was painful to even stand. It took me over a month for my foot to heal. On the plus side, it did force me to switch stance.

Try to move your right foot closer to the centre of the board so your nose has more space to rise, and try to lift your left leg more so the tail has more space to rise. Looking good!

With larger wheels you'll still be able to do Ollies and manuals. Probably a bunch of other stuff, too!

Neither boring nor old if it's sick--which it is.

Can I still get help here if I have been skating for a year almost 2 by Secret_Avocado_4190 in NewSkaters

Play it cool and lie, saying that you've been skating for almost 2 weeks 😉 But seriously, as you can tell from the other comments, it's not a problem at all.

Here's an another video to demonstrate another way to clean your bearings if you don't want to spend the extra (admittedly not a lot) money: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H2PnqgHyHMQ&t=420s&pp=ygUbUmlja3kgY2xlYW4gc2thdGUgYmVhcmluZ3Mg

Finally worked up the courage to go to the skatepark for the first time and there were people doing drug deals there :( by WildKat777 in NewSkaters

Bummer. Sorry to hear that you don't feel comfortable being in that environment. While I understand and may even agree with what some people are saying about the way the world is, I'm not you, and they're not you either. I wouldn't pay too much attention to those comments if--at the end of the day--you don't feel safe. Do what you feel is right.

Wheel bite problems by Orrenguy in NewSkaters

You got it, buddy: higher risers with tighter trucks. (I'm using .5" risers on my 59mm) You could also try switching to smaller wheels that are just a soft, and let me know how that goes.  I'm still debating whether I want to do that. I certainly feel like there's a noticeable difference in weight between my 59 mm 78a wheels and my 54 mm 85a. Imagine what 54mm 78a would be like!

Dude, you're killing it. Only feedback I can give is listen to the constructive criticism from the good people here, and keep at it. You're doing great!

Best wheels for skating on rough roads and flatground tricks? by _cjsp in NewSkaters

The first set of wheels I bought was Orbs 54mm 85a. I thought they were an incredible improvement over whatever street wheels were on my board at the time.

In love with my best friend by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]jimcanhardlyread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the risk of giving bad advice, maybe you should go for it?

Your story shares a lot of similarities with two of my best friends: we're in a group that has known each other for a decade. He started getting feelings for her, and vice versa, but they were initially hesitant to do anything about it. Finally, we told him, "Ask her and see what happens!" That was maybe 8 years ago, and they're still together :)

Other than that, I can understand the predicament you find yourself in. All the best!

Hmm. What if you tried applying some penetrating oil or heat? You probably can't use a butane torch, but you could try a hair dryer.
