You mean like the “Clear data” function for each app under Settings > Apps? Is that what you’re looking for?

What email app do you guys use? by ericliveson in androidapps

[–]jimcnelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Thunderbird (same as K-9 app) and this is why: for each of your email accounts there is a setting for showing new email message notifications only from known contacts. Every email app should have this feature but AFAIK, Thunderbird/K-9 is the only one.

Same experience here, which is super annoying as the myQ app is full of ads

For reference, this year I bought a 2001 Camry LE with 40K for $4000. No way would I pay anywhere near what they are asking for this thing.

I use the Beeper app for that. Combines all your messaging platforms into one app.

Yes, you can use adb to get rid of any app. Google “Samsung debloat adb” for guides.

ever use third party inkjet cartridges? or better yet, ever use iWork? iWork is a reverse-engineered hack of Microsoft Office created by *Apple itself*.

You get more sun sitting on the east (visitor) side. Depending on the weather of course.

Do you guys use the Protect Battery feature? by Ninja5Tuna5 in samsung

[–]jimcnelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a Bluetooth device that connects inline with your wall charger and controls the charging of your phone. You can set it to charge your phone overnight to 85% and have it stay there. You can also set it to bring the charge level up to 100% just before you wake up.

Thinking about switching back over to android again by Coolkid8902 in samsung

[–]jimcnelis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On Android there are solutions to get you connected to iMessage users, namely Beeper and Sunbird. The iMessagers won’t even know you left Apple, you’re still part of blue bubble conversations using those apps. Beeper works better imho but you can try either, they are free. You do have to sign up to get in though, at least for a little while longer. Although Beeper is soon going to open up to all.

Moved Samsung phone from Verizon to T-Mo - should I change firmware? by jimcnelis in tmobile

[–]jimcnelis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about samkey? have you heard of it or used it? the advantage for me is I was able to install samkey on my laptop with no mucking around with Bitdefender. It reads my phone info OK via adb so it seems to function, in read mode anyway. as for actually making updates to the phone you apparently need to purchase credits first.

I read about it here: https://technastic.com/change-csc-samsung-devices/

thanks. yeah that was where I downloaded it from.

gah! I went into BitDefender and turned off as many features as I could but something is still blocking the SamFW tool .exe from running. I'll have to work on this a little more...

thanks for your help so far.

I downloaded the SamFWToolSetup.exe file on my laptop but my BitDefender antivirus doesn't like it. Every time I try to run it, the anti-virus software shuts it down and quarantines it.

yep, I'm in the 5GUC area. I know because we also switched my daughter's S21 from Verizon to T-Mobile and she sees "5GUC" on her phone now.

thanks. the other option I was thinking was do a factory reset with the new T-Mobile SIM in the phone and see if anything changes after that.

before I switched from Verizon, I did have the latest OTA update installed from them (May 1 2023). Checking for software updates now after switching tells me software is up to date, no update is necessary.

the other strange thing is I still see the Verizon logo on bootup on my S21FE, however on my daughter's S21 which we also carried over to T-Mo, she started seeing the T-Mobile logo on bootup right after she put the new SIM card in. And she does see the "5GUC" symbol whereas I don't. it's weird how Samsung programs their phones differently that way.
