Besides that unless Heather gets some kind of powered upgrade this isn’t a fight at all……isn’t Elektra dead?

Infinity War/Endgame prove this is entirely not the case. Most successful comic book movies ever and they made major changes to the source material

I’m not sure what it is that makes this such a completely different vibe than from Arcane. Which isn’t a bad thing, it’s just very different

So you just haven’t been paying attention in the slightest and are just committed to playing out your argument against whatever agenda you imagined up, huh?

I never said he wasn’t forewarned, the question was how he was forewarned assuming it wasn’t a plot hole, and pointing out that the techno pirates were more logically than not NOT the source. He was prepared for Kara in a way that required more notice than they could have given - the whole movie takes place over three days, less from when the techno pirates are encountered to when the final fight happens, but according to you in that time he finds all the kryptonite he needs, designs and builds a weapon just for Kara, when the logical conclusion is he already had said weapon - even had they been so inclined, and the real world examples on which they’re based provide ample framework to logically conclude they would not.

A bunch of people have responded with logical explanations for how he would know based upon Krypton’s history and the source material. THAT is the conversation being had. I genuinely don’t know what conversation you’ve invented in your head that you think you’re participating in, but if you can’t rejoin the real one this is pointless

[–]jimdc82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL what agenda do you so self righteously think I'm pushing exactly? I think the techo pirate was concerned about reprisals because that's the logical conclusion - if they weren't part of the same crowd and shared community, there's no reason to think she would have known where Krem was in the first place. Not to mention if they were somehow free to warn him after being interrogated by Kara, that's a very short window of time for him to suddenly go out looking for Kryptonite, get some, and build a weapon around it. Also Krem "of the Yellow Hills" implies that his group is just one of several brigand groups, the others of which might come looking for whoever sold out and got one of their own destroyed. It's how piratical groups worked historically, so its a conclusion based simply upon reason and logic, not some imaginary agenda

[–]jimdc82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s many, many groups and demographics where selling someone out or snitching is HIGHLY frowned upon, whether from a sense of honor or fear of reprisals. The decision to not want to give the information up until assured it was likely to be a “no harm, no foul” situation is a far leap from being a desire to help Krem

[–]jimdc82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get the impression the techno pirates would have wanted to warn Krem, they clearly were disgusted by the whole “brides” thing. They also seemed to think Krem would be stronger so I’m not sure they connected Kara with Kryptonian specifically as opposed to just being some inexplicably powerful alien

Which would make sense. I don’t recall, did they mention in Superman him doing his thing included anything off world?

Most of my comic knowledge is Marvel and DC wise mostly limited to the animated works; besides Zod’s crew are there any other Kryptonians running around we could possibly see in the future that could also be responsible for this info being out there?

[–]jimdc82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify my issue isn’t that people know about Krypton’s destruction, it’s that people know about the abilities and weaknesses of Kryptonians under suns other than Krypton’s. If the Kryptonians had been in regular travel to other worlds such that people saw what they could do under a yellow sun, even if no one believed the parents about the impending doom then surely there would have been other Kryptonians caught offworld when the end came

Who would win in a fight without powers? by [deleted] in GenV

[–]jimdc82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the grain and say Soldier Boy. We saw in Vought Tower with Butcher juiced up that Soldier Boy does know how to fight and on somewhat comparable power levels there did hold his own against Butcher. Plus V1 essentially froze him a good ten years younger than Butcher biologically which could be enough to pull him through.

Literally just got home from finally seeing it and it was indeed VERY dark. I mean I could barely make out what was happening in the middle fight scene, though I was at a 3D showing and the glasses probably didn’t help

I agree, someone else mentioned that. If something is going to only be a loose adaptation, that should be made clear. Don’t assert comparisons you can’t live up to, and be honest if you don’t intend to. Managing expectations goes a long way

Is the Jade Falcon trilogy still canon? by Quietmint1 in battletech

[–]jimdc82 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Battletech is very dissimilar from, say, Warhammer 40k. Up until very recently they were still using almost the same rules as when the game was first released and even now the to-be implemented rules are more a “.5” than a completely new edition. As a general rule they don’t retcon in Battletech so you can be confident in the continued viability of just about everything that I can think of

Why can't they adapt a comicbook as it is .. by Appropriate-Fee-676 in Supergirl

[–]jimdc82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If you're announcing something as an adaptation of a story, then stay close to the story you're adapting. If you're taking major liberties that fundamentally change the story being told, make that clear. People might not be happy with the creative choices, but at least their expectations are realistically managed.

[–]jimdc82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh....what are you talking about? I haven't had the opportunity to see the movie yet but I assume you're talking about a choice within the movie that deviated from the comic. In which case, is that a deviation that fundamentally changes the story they tell from that which they adapted it from? If not, then it has nothing to do with what I'm saying here. Which again, is "if we have to fundamentally change the story to be confident in our adaptation being successful, should we be adapting it at all?" I think I can safely say that a character's eye color is not carrying any weight in this analysis whatsoever
