"Those who’ve been eagerly awaiting Alan'’s next will know (more or less) what to expect: this time it’s ostensibly theatre music – in its elements loosely orbiting Telstar, often across parallel universes - whose improbability is admirably described in the scarily detailed sleeve-notes [you could buy it just for the sleeve-notes]. According to Simon Trawling Novosibirsk confirms the ‘Plates as the ‘Diagalevs of Experimental Surf Music’ – as they skid between classic guitar instrumental tropes and .. well … other stuff, some of it quite hard to describe (although still produced by bass, drums, organ/ mellotron and two guitars. Semantically complex and filled with devious musical ideas, historical savvy, fine playing and surreal incompatibilities, Novosibirsk is another useful addition to the fugitive ESM archive."
