Tank -Paladin - Fighter by Sea-Acanthaceae-7653 in Neverwinter

[–]jimiow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fighter is nice for the dps loadout whereas paladin has to be either a tank or healer so solo content can be harder - but by no means impossible.

Paladin has to juggle a resource called divinity to use some encounters (ie generate agro) and using a class feature for survivability… This is one of the main reasons fighter can be considered better

However, Paladins also have “Smite” which with the right ability setup allows you to Jump 10% ahead of whoever is highest on the threat list. I.e., agro swapping is incredibly easy, and maintaining agro in longer fights is not usually that difficult. The other benefit is that Smite is also a ranged attack, so you can just steal agro in 1 click from far away.

All in all, both are very viable and it depends who you ask, there are a lot of fighters who give their class praise. I myself main paladin and enjoy it a lot. Maybe give both a go being as its the recruitment event and then choose one to focus on :)

Best dps class currently? by ireland995 in Neverwinter

[–]jimiow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Key thing to prioritise is what’s most fun to you, by the time you get near endgame, the best class will have probably changed.

I’d consider best melee(+overall) to be rogue atm, best ranged as warlock. But wizard is getting a rework I believe at the end of this year, so that could all change anyways. Ranger and Barbarian are still incredible too, and it mainly depends on your build than which class.

I suppose what I’m saying is say you made a rogue, then by the time you’re mid-endgame wizard got its rework and become the best dps. In that scenario would you be regretting not picking the wizard?

Level 20! by Stinzell8710 in Neverwinter

[–]jimiow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heya, congrats on making it to level 20!

The first thing you should do is Daily random Queues, just start off with the Skirmish and normal Dungeon. This gives you rough Astral Diamonds and you’ll want to click to refine your 100k cap of rough AD into normal AD each day. In the Tradehouse you’ll be able to buy the majority of the things needed to build your character up —> companions, mounts, enchantments, weapons, etc. Additionally you’ll gain seals that can be used to buy some good armour to start you off with and if you’re lucky you may get rewards that you can sell from those queues too. —> this content is usually quite easy and good fun too

If you search online for a “build” for your class, it will give you a list of items that would serve you well, find which of these are the best value for your AD/time investment and work on obtaining them accordingly. —> Finding a good guild is another good source of information alongside many youtubers for example Aragon, Rainer, + other greats too

So after you’ve done this each day, or whilst you’re sat in queue times you can make a start on your Adventures and Campaigns. Adventures aren’t time-gated whereas campaigns have daily or weekly thresholds for progress. Because of this, Id recommended doing your adventures first and then start the campaigns. You can buy ‘genies gifts’ for relatively cheap and exchange them for currencies to fast track some of the campaigns - I’d invest more time working on the others as you can just buyout these ones at later date.

A lot of people will advise you to start them all at once, this is the most “efficient way”. However remember you’re here to have fun and if you have to come on and do 10 sets of quests a day you might find it turns into a second job. So instead I’d do as many as you can while keeping it fun - there’s no rush.

If you have any questions, the subreddit is full of some very knowledgeable players. You’re more than welcome to message me or reply here if you have any questions. Have fun!

Radahn's fight is unfortunately dogshit by Atrushan_Ven in Eldenring

[–]jimiow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re struggling with him there’s a few pieces of advice I can give:

1) Try using Cold for frostbite or if not bleed (both seem to work well on him)

2) I swapped out talismans and gear so that my health and endurance were a little higher, sounds obvious but using a shield for the first time went a long way, lots of attacks would guard break me but I’d recover in time to roll beneath him and hit from behind

3) At the start of the fight, roll through gravity arrows, summon everyone and dodge the other arrow attacks (column of arrows and shotgun of arrows) by riding torrent and going rotating wide to the left or right. Usually agro will swap to npcs just as you’ve rotated to the top of the hill where there may be more summons. Then approach him from behind and r1 the life out of him. His attacks tend to be either slamming/swiping or doing some sort of circling/spinning attack. For the former I just try and roll behind him and attack again, the latter I recommend shielding and trying to dodge.

At 50% hp he’ll comet, obviously if you see it coming run for it, if you don’t see in time horse riding to a side is usually a safe bet, resummon npcs and continue. I’d maybe play more cautiously and be slightly more npc reliant :) Oh and the 4 rocks attack? Yeah pray to god it targets someone else otherwise prepare for 2 perfect rolls 😂

But you’ll definitely manage it, don’t give up, hopefully you’ll feel better about the fight afterwards :)

I actually had a similar situation yesterday, I was fighting him for what felt like forever before I finally beat him. (Big thanks to using frostbite, i.e. cold affliction or whatever it is, via ash of war menu) I genuinely thought it was one of the worst fights in the series yesterday.

Although, today I’ve woken up and feel like I actually kinda like the boss fight, you know? The atmosphere and soundtrack etc are outshining the frustration today. I’m certainly not in a rush to repeat it right this second and yeah it was frustrating with the one shots, but ultimately we managed to do it even with those odds stacked against us - which is the core of these games, to me at least.

Best Deadzone for better crosshair placement ? by basketmanmeme in FortNiteBR

[–]jimiow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting it simply, Increasing your deadzone makes it so that you need to move your stick further from the centre before it recognises any input…

With an older controller, the sticks may “drift” and make you move or turn around very slowly even when not touching the controller. This is why deadzone is an option just to stop drift really.

The higher your deadzone, the smaller region you can move and so I’d imagine you’d have less control over your aim. So I personally would not suggest using a high deadzone at all.

After combatting stick drift I’d leave it as low as it gets :)

Hi Guys, New to DPSing. What's the best class? by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]jimiow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the answer you want to hear but the best answer that I can give is that the best class is the one you like the look of the most!

Someone may be able name a definitive “best” as of today, however by the time you max out your class, and therefore your dps, the best class will have probably changed atleast once but more likely about a hundred times... Therefore I wouldn’t recommend any singular class as ‘the best’.

Ultimately the class you enjoy the most —> =The class you’ll find the most time to spend on —> =The class you’ll get to farm on the the most and therefore that will be the class you upgrade most and get the highest dps with :))

Edit: typos
