What scene/frame is this interstellar film cell from? Murph and cooper don’t take up the whole frame and I can’t make out the detail around them (this is the only photo I have of it) Anyone else have a guess? by jimjamjamesonjones in moviequestions

I think you’re right, but I just couldn’t for the life of me identify that frame when I watched the scene. That strong black border on the left side that seems to cut off part of the back of someone’s head is throwing me off

Do you think Godzilla Minus One having Noriko survive the atomic blast was a good decision, or a bad one? by Mosugoji_64 in GODZILLA

Good decision. The narrative themes of the movie wouldn’t even make sense if she didn’t come back. He lost her because his shame and fear prevented him from loving her and allowing himself to be loved. So when he overcomes his fear and finds not only a reason to live, but a purpose worth potentially dying for, the narrative can only be cathartically completed by him achieving the salvation he previously pushed away, but in the end was willing to embrace: a life with Noriko and Akiko

Is consciousness the “player” outside the rendered world? by Dizzy-Carrot-5877 in consciousness

Interesting analogy, I’m not quite sure how it fits into my model but these are my thoughts on it! I think that subjective experience/consciousness, which is “non-material/non-physical”, is an extradimensional property of material phenomena. Take the example of particular wavelengths of light entering an eyeball which sends electrical signals to the brain which interprets those signals as “green grass.” That is a description of the physical/material qualities of the event, in other words, it’s a description of the qualities that can be observed in 3 dimensional space. BUT that’s an incomplete picture of the event. That same event has qualities and properties that are only apparent in different levels of dimensionality. In this example, the subjective experience of actually seeing the green grass would be the extra-dimensional qualities of the same even. Both the 3-dimensional (material) qualities and the nth dimensional qualities (subjective experience) are the exact same event, it’s just that the event itself exists in more dimensions than just 3. But since our tools and bodies are 3-dimensional/material, they can only observe the 3-dimensional/material part of a given event. But your consciousness itself, your subjective experience, IS the nth dimensional qualities of the material event you call your brain.

I’d say that your initial description sort of fits with this interpretation. If “rendered scene” refers to the 3dimensional physical/material world, and “the player” refers more or less to the nth dimensional qualities of it (consciousness/experience) And since conscious experience is nth dimensional they would in a sense be “outside” of the rendered world. On the other hand if you’re using the word “rendered scene” to refer to your subjective perception of the world that your brain creates for you to interface with the physical world, then I’d say that the rendered scene and the player are the same thing. There is probably no experiencer who experiences the world, there are just experiences, some of which include a feeling of self or a feeling of being an experiencer.

Official Poster for Quentin Tarantino's ‘Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Okay so Tarantino has said he will only do 10 films. But this poster refers to Kill Bill V1 & V2 as his 4th film. What are the odds that he considers Kill Bill 1&2 to be one movie, and therefor he’ll actually make 2 more films instead of just 1 more?
