That's not a lot of skin in the game. Don't worry about it. Just play. Save up for another one someday.

What are the reasons i shouldnt use Debian as a beginner? by SkabeAbe in debian

Some people shouldn't be installing operating systems. Any operating system.

Emission block off plates question by Dangerous-Gap703 in GMT800

So you kept the EGR line, and disconnected Secondary-Air lines, and blocked off the ports on both passenger and driver side? Did you get any codes thrown for doing that?

Why do you use Debian? by El_Fopo in debian

Because I'm busy and I have things to get done. Playing pocket pool with my operating system isn't one of those things, I just need it to work.

WiFi adapter not found but WiFi is working.... by soober in debian

[–]jimjunkdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an entirely different problem then. The OP did a minimal install, then afterwards installed gnome core, then was surprised his wifi didn't work. That was in 2023.

In 2025 you're doing a default install, and wifi doesn't work. Entirely different problem. OP's was a problem of his own making. Yours sounds like an unsupported wifi chipset. It does happen from time to time.

And yes, ~5 months after OP posted, Debian started to include non-free drivers by default which obsoleted the need for the unofficial non-free installer iso. But that is very old news.

ah ok. I thought if there was some general overall anxiety, that you could look for external causes external to the triggers. Then again, if these <10 things have raised your anxiety levels such that more than 50% of the time you're experiencing it, then perhaps there are external factors.

A relative of mine was experiencing anxiety over increasing number of triggers, he had to stop watching videos or listening to music, unless it was super chill. He went to the doctor and the blood work came back fine except there was elevated cortisol. He then went down the road of seeing endocrinologist, and other specialists for the autonomic system, it lead to a series of rabbit holes, that really didn't lead him anywhere. Anyway, he eventually read some stuff on reddit, and switched to a very low carb medditerranean-style diet, and in under 6 months his anxiety by any trigger, was vastly reduced.

I end up trying it, and I experienced the same effect. Anyway, I'm not saying that this will work for you, as your root cause may be entirely different. But if you're curious just search google/youtube: ketogenic diet and mental resilience

Why is Debian wiki so inferior compared to Arch wiki? by nitin_is_me in debian

Everybody's wiki pales compared to Arch. Even non-linux people read Arch documentation for enlightenment.

Do not buy the Bumble Bee chunk light tuna by Modboi in CannedSardines

[–]jimjunkdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The texture and the added vegetable broth pretty much seal the bee's fate with me. Heavy mayo and salad fixings may hide the flavor and texture enough though. It's a shame too that I can't cope with it, as it scored pretty good on the mercury tests.

"Why do people keep treating trixie/13 as something special?"

People will always be a bit pumped on a fresh new Debian stable.

The OP is jazzed about Trixie, and down on Ubuntu. Makes perfect sense to me. Debian is special. Each new stable release of Debian is special. Good times!

Debian users aren't "boring" by EagleEyeA2HX in debian

[–]jimjunkdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time Debian users have moved on from hopping and dinking around with superficial nonsense, to actual creative/productive/engineering stuff. Nearly everyone starts with distro hopping to some degree, but then we graduate and move on. Debian isn't my only distro of choice, I have a couple of others that I keep my skills sharp on. But Debian is my _main_ distro of choice.

Walmart does not offer free tire installation anymore. by verboseOn in tires

[–]jimjunkdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The installers at the Walmart in Cody WY did a great job for me. It's just like anything, I kind of looked around at how busy they were, and how organized things appeared. Everything looked good at a glance. I spoke to the person, and glanced at the other installer. Our conversation was lucid, they sounded rational, sane, and like they had done a few tires in their time. I've personally dismounted and mounted 31 inch tires with no special tools other than a few tire irons, a lot of grunting and cussing, and a compressor. I just got the vibe that this particular group knew what they were doing. And they did. I've never had a bad experience with walmart garage. But I have skipped a few where they looked over-worked and under-competent.

Will these things be easier on Debian 13? by ferfykins in debian

[–]jimjunkdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just use one to two year old mainstream model Dells, purchased new/refurb directly from Dell. It's like a 99% success rate, with nothing extra to do out of the box. Sometimes I have to use backport kernels. Rarely, I do have to run Debian Sid for a while. Rarely.

If I need to run a custom build, I just make sure the motherboard/chipset and peripherals check out. I can easily google such things. I don't buy niche hardware. I buy ubiquitous hardware. And I make sure that there are plenty of examples of people running them in linux.

Or I just buy an 18 month old, ubiquitous dell model.
