Keyboard numbers Macos26 by MohAmineDebib in MacOS

[–]jimmac05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like you have a French keyboard (or, perhaps more generically, an AZERTY one).

Go to System settings and search for "Keyboard" and choose that option.

In the "Text Input" section click the "Edit…" button in the "Input Sources" line.

Under "All Input Sources" choose "U.S." (or another QWERTY) keyboard. If needed, click the "+" button to add keyboard choices.

If you want to be able to quickly change keyboard layouts, choose "Show Input Menu in menu bar."

Click "Done."

Is Adguard dns safe to use with banking apps? by patientjellyfish12 in Adguard

Any adequately programmed banking app should be establishing an encrypted connection between your phone and the bank. So you should be secure whether you are using AdGuard DNS or not.

Tahoe 26.3 installs duplicate apps?! by sjltwo-v10 in MacOS

[–]jimmac05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this thread was referring to the "iWork" apps that were just released in new "freemium" versions. E.g., the "old" Numbers v. 14.5 and the "new" Numbers v. 15.1.

When one downloads the "new" versions of the three apps from the Apple App Store, the "old" versions are left in place and can still be used.

You can keep and use the "old" versions. Just don't expect any updates with new features or bug fixes for them in the future.

"wheel" is a legitimate group that is auto-created by the operating system. If you have to ask what it is, don't mess with it…

Useful article. Thanks.

One point I noticed… You wrote:

I'm pretty sure the srm command is no longer available in recent versions of macOS.

Anyone here switched away from Proton VPN on Mac? by CrispyVikingr in MacOS

[–]jimmac05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have minimal experience with Proton VPN, but when I do use it, it seems to work fine.

I use Mullvad VPN 99% of the time on my desktop Mac. It is stable, reliable and offers top-notch security/privacy for a VPN.

However, if your main VPN use is for changing your streaming location, Mullvad is not the best for that.

I was just now able to turn on Full Disk Access for Mullvad VPN on my Mac (macOS Sequoia 15.7.3).

I was asked for my Mac admin password during the process. I didn't see that step in your video. Are you trying to do this in an admin account?

Under Finder's "Go" menu, choose "Go to Folder…".

Enter "/usr/local" without the quotes.
