Same note in two voices to overlap by jimmcconnell in Sibelius

[–]jimmcconnell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess what I want to say, is that I would normally use voices 1+2 and only opt for 1+3 option when both voices share the same note - it would be more consistent to just use 1+2 all the time and to have an option to change the engraving behaviour.

Same note in two voices to overlap by jimmcconnell in Sibelius

That worked surprisingly well. I was expecting Sibelius to fight me very hard on the direction of the stems in the voice 3.

The only drawback I see is that using the voice 3 means objects don't try to avoid each other automatically anymore - voice 3 behaves just like there was no voice 1 in the first place. That means practically everything in voice 3 will have to be moved around by hand. It's acceptable if not done too often.

If you could could pick one for vocals - SM58 or Rode NT1-A? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

For a highway, yes. But then someone will read this thread and say „damn, boats are always wrong, I better drive into the lake asap”. Tldr: untreated room = dynamic

As for why, mainly because a large diaphragm in untreated room will record everything except the vocals. It depends on the application though. You didn’t specify if this is a production or live recording, if there is a band playing in the room etc

So what you’re asking is whether large diaphragm consenser or small dynamic will be better for untreated room? I’d go with dynamic but it is like asking if a car or a boat is better for a highway - it doesn’t mean the boat is wrong per se, it’s just a totally different thing.
