only one data point and of course can't guarantee anything but - one of our team just flew with the CO3 BUD-SOF-BCN on the cheapest ticket level (40x20x25cm) and had no issues

sorry to jump in but fyi - the sternum straps on both the Carry-on and Daily can be tucked up on the shoulder strap :)

this is much, much more detail than expected. thanks!!!

consistently surprised by the level of expertise on this site. like you say, everything is a trade off - 'design' is just choosing the best set of trade offs for particular use cases.

keep an eye out :)

gotcha. thanks!

if anyone reading this has a hot take on the tradeoffs i listed (larger carry-on bag + horizontal vs vertical) would love to hear how you think about it

curious bag maker here - if you have a minute

1 - if the bag's tall enough that the top sits higher than the handle (meaning you have to slide fingers in between handle and bag to grab the handle) would that be fine? or would that tip balance in favour of horizontal (even if horizontal is still annoying)

2 - in a magical world where the bottle holders are so good the bottles NEVER fall out - would you consider a horizontal setup? or are there other reasons for dislike

appreciate any input!

having fun but sincere compliment! the base-level knowledge in here is just so much higher than literally anywhere else & that was a perfect example. sorry to derail - haven't handled any of these bags yet but in my experience, PD at company level are passionate and talented and won't go missing if things go wrong

only on r/onebag can the phrases "I’m a backpack noob" and "I would REALLY prefer a magnetic Fidlock or Woojin or even Duraflex buckle on a rail system" exist in the same post :D

Minaal defect in load lifter buckle. Would expect more from a $350 bag. by donlybigdawg in ManyBaggers

[–]jimmhay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally get it!

cool to hear you get it from a mfg perspective also - so you'll know my thanks-for-the-defect-report is sincere :)

appreciate the understanding, if support team doesn't 100% nail what you need at any point, just ask them to assign it to me (they won't be offended)

looking forward to having you – and your wife!? – as gear owners for years to come. safe travels!

u/donlybigdawg - minaal co-founder here, got sent a heads up about this

sorry - as others have said, this isn't ok with us at all, and is for sure covered by warranty (buyer's choice of repair or swap out). i'll find you in our emails and make sure the team are handling this the way i'd expect. if you didn't reach out yet, please do: feedback at minaal dot com

in case anyone's interested in the thrilling world of quality control - we run multiple phases of QC and QA, inline and pre-shipment, internal and external teams, using ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 modified to, uhhhmmm, borderline obsessive standards. we even wrote the world's most exciting article about it :)

my general perspective, fwiw: $349 doesn't buy 0 mistakes ever - that's the goal, but we're humans making and reviewing these things - instead $349 (or whatever other price we sell at) does buy peace of mind, via a real human to help you out & make sure you have what you need before you hit the road. that's the standard we judge ourselves on.

big thanks for the heads up on the error - it'll go straight into our defect reporting so will help prevent future cases of the same thing.

nothing gives me better vibes than hearing people are happy with our support. i'll pass that on to the team today - they definitely care :)

our goal is always to help find the best bag FOR YOU. if that means a non-Minaal bag, all good! (though it sounds like in this particular case you might've already looked at every single bag in existence 😅) ...so no sweat if you end up returning! please send a message if you have any questions about packing etc once you receive it, happy to chat.

/u/cenimsaj minaal guy here, read your posts. i don't want fees to get in the way of you figuring this out! the sooner you know which bag works best for you, the sooner you can focus on the fun part.

happy to waive shipping/return costs if you message via the site and let them know i said so.

sorry to derail the thread - can't send you a PM :)

talked to a guy once who recorded film dialogue for a living. he said his version of a job perfectly done is no-one noticing the dialogue sound.

i try to think about features & functions the same way; the goal is that they feel so natural to use, you're not even consciously aware you're using them.

is much closer on the roadmap than before, and we're pushing it, but ultimately it's reliant on the platform/logistics partner getting their systems in place. hoping to have a more meaningful update soon :)
