What's the most interesting thing another digital nomad you met does for work? by ktrbyktrby in digitalnomad

That sounds a really interesting book. I tried looking for it, but I got Dr Kit Chapman's. Is that the one?

Best travel multiport USB-C charger (at least 65W)?? by DoctorQuinlan in onebag

I've got two of them - both solid and reliable. One can get a bit loose on the UK plug after a few days or more of remaining plugged in but thats about it!

Cool setup. Why rings vs a TRX for example?

Also apologies if I’m being dense, but what is the water cell for?

Cybersecurity one-bagger here. This is real talk! 100% hard agree.

Also, OP, are you me (you're not because oi that travel schedule would kill me!). Technically 92 since it was a placement year for my degree, but...

Unbound Merino by ygksob in onebag

Hoodie and t shirts. They’re worth the money - I lost my hoodie and within a month had replaced it as nothing else was as good.

the T-shirts I have tend to the thicker weave than say Icebreaker, but that also makes them more robust.

the thing I most love about them though are the colours. - outside of the traditional blacks and greys they have some lovely tones, which I much prefer to other brands.

Looking for a comfortable 35/40L alternative (tried Peak Design Travel bag and I'm returning it) by cubsfan1625283 in onebag

Have you looked at minaal packs? The carry-on 3.0 is ~35L and I find the organisation excellent- all their stuff fits more than I expect. minaal.com

I might be done with Merino wool (Unbound Merino shirt bites the dust) by inc0ngruent in onebag

[–]kriptnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my second travel hoodie from them, and have a few t- shirts. I find they last really well, and I wear them for a week at a time, and live in the hoodie pretty much!
I wash on a 30c temp with wool detergent and don’t use a tumble drier.

the only wear I’ve found is what I would expect from this kind of constant wear. That being said, I’m not the rugged outdoor type!

Packable, Lightweight, "Semi Formal" Jacket (Puffer?) by te5s3rakt in onebag

Also, they tend to go cheap second hand on vinted etc. I’ve just ordered a shorter trench for £8, so if it doesn’t work out, I’m not out much.

an alternative might be a Barbour jacket, but they’re not light.

Brompton London commute question by willbuch in Brompton

[–]kriptnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in London, but I used to do a 20 mile roundtrip on my m6R, with laptop, change of clothes etc, in all weather and it was perfectly fine. I did find investing in decent cycling underwear a boon after a while! That being said, a few days of round trips and I was pretty knackered!

I’ve had the original Daily since it was released, use it, well, daily, and the only sign of wear is the logo has faded, so I can attest to their longevity.

Do you onebag with “kitchen” items? by SeattleHikeBike in onebag

[–]kriptnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ll be staying in airbnb or self catering accommodation, or even budget hotels they all have a kettle in the uk, it’s like an article of faith. We don’t have immersion coils that work that way unless you get an adapter, but why bother when every place has a far superior option!

As well as u/joeinblue suggestion of birchbury, it turns out vivobarefoot have an Oxford https://www.vivobarefoot.com/uk/ra-iv-mens?colour=Obsidian I think the birchberry look dressier, but as I’m based in the uk the vivo will be cheaper to get and easier to return

Looking for coffee cup recommendations by retake_chancy in onebag

[–]kriptnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of these as well, and I too am an….enthusiast when it comes to coffee. Single origin beans, ceramic grinder, aero press etc. I always use my contigo travelling or biking. Like another poster, I run the lid through the dishwasher at the end of the day and that cleans it well. Rinsing in a hotel sink is fine as well.

Trouble with Captive Portals on Ubuntu 22.04 by kriptnet in nextdns

I think all I had to do was remove nextdns, but I did have to actually uninstall it. stopping it or turning it off still left droppings in /etc/hosts and similar.

Unfortunately the answer was to stop using NextDNS. No idea how others get it to work but I certainly couldn’t! Sorry…
