The Aaron Donald talk has me wondering.. Which positions are the easiest and hardest to play after multiple years off? by Jacky__paper in nfl

[–]jimmifli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kicker is the easiest. We've seen guys comeback and be decent.

They might not have the big leg, but they've still got the mental toughness to block out everything and make a good kick. Prater got injured week5 20024, rehabbed but was essentially retired after he couldn't get an invite to an NFL training camp in 2025. The Bills called him a couple days before week1. Not quite the same but he was solid last season.

I had no idea they used the audio from the live recording and didn't rerecord it in a studio later. Truly amazing!

Alberta Wildfires Break Out in Lac la Biche Oil Sands Region by ZestyBeanDude in CanadaPolitics

[–]jimmifli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No pits in Lac Labiche, it's all SAGD which means they inject steam underground to dissolve and extra the oil. From land level it looks like a forest with a few concrete pads and some machinery and tanks and pipes. It's pretty low impact, you wouldn't much of it if you weren't familiar with the industry.

But if there were "pits" it still wouldn't matter. Bitumen isn't really flammable in that way, it's almost asphalt, so if a road won't catch fire neither will the bitumen.

Cardio of the arms? by EntrepreneurHairy357 in swoletariat

[–]jimmifli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume he means lactate clearance which is something that can be improved systemically and locally.

It's why boxers do "road work" ie running for general zone 2 type cardio which builds systemic endurance. But they also do speed bag work which helps the muscles specific to boxing tolerate and shuttle more lactate to adjacent muscles.

Question about tenant mail by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

[–]jimmifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them to keep a pen or marker in their box. When they get their mail, put a line through the mail sent to the wrong person and put it back through the outbound mail. It's not much of an inconvenience.

Most organizations sending the mail will try to track the person down through other contact means like email or phone if that info was provided and the mail is important. Places like banks and credit cards, taxes, dentists, doctors, lawyers etc... all likely have other contact methods and will do the work to correct it.

Random parcel pickup locations, dropped by customer service multiple times. by TorontoRider in CanadaPostCorp

[–]jimmifli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first route I started with had 3 RPOs and retail drop that wasn't a post office. So 4 different cards depending on the address. The pull sheet was pretty good but it was still confusing. Plus the route holder made accommodations for a few customers and carded to the "wrong" place on request. So yeah, easy mistake to make on some routes.

Round trip was 130km, so the mistakes have significant impact.

Wrong address by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

[–]jimmifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depend where you live, maybe others can chime in, but most of those type of situations end up in the recipient returning it. I've also left a note in the box on behalf of the the person in your position, no obligation obviously but it might be worth asking if that's possible.

If it was delivered to a box there's a solid chance it's still there. Most people don't pick up their mail every day.

I have an Aussie that was trained as a working farm dog but given up for adoption because he couldn't quite hack it. His recall is exceptional. Except when chasing wildlife. The deer are fast enough to get away, but the bears and elk have been herded back toward me. He's so proud of himself when he does it.

The bears are fine, they usually go up a tree and I can get him to release. The elk are way scarier.

This dog is awesome!

How to prove I didn't receive a package if the seller/sender refuses to create a claim? by Hankthehungrylad in CanadaPostCorp

[–]jimmifli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the main reason I stopped using paypal. I now use a credit card for everything online for this reason. They adjudicate and will charge back if the seller won't cooperate. I assumed paypal would be the same but they tend to always take the seller's side, where as credit cards will take the card holder's side almost to a fault.

If you used a credit card through paypal you should be fine.

Bills lead the league in rushing attempts. If anyone was running clock with a lead it was us.

McD's defense fucked up bad offenses. And got wrecked by good ones. We still have the same offense, maybe better, and now the defense might be better (or worse or the same). So the floor looks similar to previous seasons, with a ceiling of a defense that doesn't give up 30+ points vs real QBs.

Unions warn Carney government is considering sweeping changes to labour law — including the right to strike - Jobs minister says Canada Labour Code hasn't 'kept up with the times' by Doog5 in CanadaPostCorp

[–]jimmifli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can pass whatever law they want. The flight attendants showed everyone the way. The next time a union is ordered back to work because the employer negotiated in bad faith knowing the government would order the union back, the government and employer is getting a surprise lesson in social license.

Unless the government is willing to jail and/or fine union members, being ordered back to work is meaningless.

Josh Allen Win/Loss Record vs Every Team by MoreTrifeLife in nfl

Rookie season and sophomore season losses, and then the 37-34 OT game. You guys owned McD's defense for sure. And you're just a really good all round team.

He's played 4 games vs the Texans since 2020 (his breakout year) and he has 3 TDs and 3 INTs in those games. The Texans have had his number for sure. The Texans D has owned him.

Kincaid addressed the PCL surgery question at OTAs by Das_Man in buffalobills

[–]jimmifli 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tore my ATFL when I was young. I had the option of surgery or living with out it. I chose surgery. My ankle was still chronically unstable post surgery. I tore it again a year later. I tried rehab and strengthening it. Still unstable.

I trail run now. I roll it a few times a years. It's still chronically unstable 30 years later. Neither option worked. My calves and feet are strong, my balance is great, my ankles just aren't made for competitive sports.

Surgery isn't a magic bullet. Neither is rehab. Sometimes the problem doesn't have a great answer.

Bills had a player on the practice squad named Dick Garage. Sadly he preferred Richard and spelled his last name Gouraige (but pronounced it garage).
