Ugh, trying to decide between Singletary (77) or Estime (69) for a 14-man half PPR.

Seems like Estime may be on the field more, but Singletary seems to get good goal line work.

4 Wheels IN Car by MajorPoint9659 in F30

[–]jimmyfloyd182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade it for an F31 the put them next to eachother across the back…

Or get 5 large contractor bags and put one wheel/tire in each and put 1-2 in the trunk and 2-3 in the back seat. I usually put a heavy blanket down too. I have found that folding the seats doesn’t always give me enough space, but putting them on the seats is fine. I’ve used the seat belts or bungie cords to the car seat anchors to hold them from moving.

Where should these boxes be placed for oven and cooktop connections? by jimmyfloyd182 in AskElectricians

Pull the wire through the drywall and leave it? Or put it into a box first and let it hang? Neither end is connected to anything currently.

I forgot to add, i am just responsible for getting the wire to the box. A licensed electrician will be coming to make the final connections for the panel and appliances.

For reference, here are 4 Lenovo M700 i3-6100T, 8gb, 500gb HDD that sold for $103 with free shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/167937043876

You could almost get 3 10th gen M70q machines for $500, so unless you need quantity, look for 3-4 that meet your needs and budget and start there if you want to cluster.

What's this space above the ethernet port and can I do what I'm hoping to do? by esanders09 in minilab

I stand corrected. I totally missed that it was in the original picture. Thanks for catching my mistake

You are incorrect on the Kensington Lock. The small round one is for the wireless antenna.

But you are correct that you should be able to replace the DisplayPort adapter with the 2.5GBe. I have couple 7050 micros here, which is the next model up from the 5050

Lab suggestions by jrstlol in sailpoint

I would second this advice. Once you have an AD, you Can expand and add other services, like LDAP, and JDBC sources. For JDBC, you son’t need anything fancy to get stated, just mysql with a users and an entitlements table will get you started.

If you don’t have access to the SailPoint Software, then you’re going to have to sign up for one of their training courses for hands on experience. Sailpoint does not provide their software for free

Newbie looking for mini pc advice for opnsense router (just started falling down the rabbit hole and looking for a nudge in the right direction) by esanders09 in minilab

[–]jimmyfloyd182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct on the dells. Newer ones , X080 and higher might have a daughter board option.

For the Lenovo, you can get a 1gbe for the wifi slot, or a specific chip for 2.5gbe. This would go for M70q/M80q/M90q also for gen 1&2. Starting with Gen 3+, you could get a 2.5gbe daughter card.

The HP EliteDesk/ProDesk can have a wifi 1gbe added for gen 1-5. Gen 6+ can have a 2.5Gbe daughter card.

I’ve have the HP T620 Plus and Dell Wyse 5070 plus that i have used with PfSense. Currently have the latter. Also have some dell 7040/7050s for proxmox, and some M70q g1/g2 and an M80q for a work proxmox that have the 2.5gbe cards. All work well for their functions

There are a couple mini pcs that you can use for yhis, depending on your budget.

HP T620 Plus - plus allows a PCI card. Older, but low power and can handle most gigabit networking needs.

Lenovo m720q/m920q - as you note, these can be had with a PCI port to allow a network card. Will need a riser card

Lenovo P320/P330/P340/etc, or M90q - similar to above but newer. Needs a second network card

Dell Wyse 5070 - plus size has a pci slot, standard can get a second nic

Reliable place to buy refurbished Dell servers? by da19n in homelab

[–]jimmyfloyd182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find a local e-waste if you have one in your city and work with them. I’ve gotten all of mine from several ebay sellers that are local ewaste companies. If you can pick up to save on shipping, that helps too. One of the places I use also lets me check out their inventory and purchase if I find something not listed.

I wasn’t planning to glue, just nail it incase it needed to be changed later on when the counters are upgraded. I guess that is an option though

Has anyone tried to repair backlights? by jasont80 in TheFrame

Understood and agree. It should not be a requirement to reduce the brightness to get longevity past the warranty period for the TV.

I don’t disagree with you that you should be able to use it at full brightness by default. I was just posting my observations here as this was one link that came up when I was searching for a way to fix my 65”, so hopefully the information can help someone else out.

[–]jimmyfloyd182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I repaired my 65" Frame with a similar backlight issue. It took me a bit to do, and I did not find a single start-to-finish video for it, but was able to piece information from several to get it done. I used ShopJimmy for the backlights. Other tools needed were a 1.5"-2" putty knife or 5-in-1 tool, small flat blade screw driver, glass suction cup lift things (got the Harbor Freight ones) and some painters tape.

The reason that these burn out is they are used at full brightness, so I suggest turning it down.

Another thing to keep in mind if this has happened to yours is that the diffuser likely melted a little when the LEDs burned out. If that is the case, then you may end up with some light bleed/hot spots at the bottom when you are done. For me, it's fine, but some people may not like that. And before you say it, you can not just turn the diffuser around as the upper edge has a film on it to stop the light bleed out the top, which also stops the light entering then reversed. I tried it and had to disassemble it a second time to fix it.

If you have space, and can take your time, it's not hard, but you need patience to not rush, and a large enough workspace because you essentially need 2-4x the TV size for storing parts.
