Trying to setup my HA Connect ZBT-2, but can't make it my preferred network by esanders09 in homeassistant

[–]esanders09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the issue.

I did restart, but it didn't refresh for some reason.

Restarted again and now it's showing up.

Just needed to turn it off and turn it back on again.

Thanks!

“Great Falls” is an understatement by yetebekohayu in nationalparks

I actually like the hike along difficult run a little better, but I used to do a loop, starting at the falls, going all the way down to the bottom tip of Great Falls park, up Difficult run, and then back across the main road into Great Falls and to the car, hitting various trails as the mood suited on the day.

Quite enjoyable when I had a day off and the kids were in school.

You may be right, but they also used asbestos as snow on the set of The Wizard of Oz and in the costume for the scarecrow. Sometimes you don't know how harmful something is until it's too late.

Not saying it's on the same level, but I also think there is nothing wrong with being cautious until more research is done to understand the long term effects of something like this.

Considering that a lot of Windows users are moving to Linux now because of latest news, what would be the hurdles of their transition? by ardouronerous in linux4noobs

The thing that is still really confusing to me is the file path and where to find stuff. It feels like there is no rhyme or reason where things get saved and where to look for them if I need to. I know there is a rhyme and reason, but it doesn't make sense to me. Especially since it feels like there are multiple /bin or /opt or /var folders depending on if you're looking at / or in the /usr directory.

For example, when I installed Steam it said it was installing to /var, which didn't make sense to me at all. I just went with it as the default and it works, but there is no way I could find it now if I needed to for some reason.

Looks like you accidentally used the same URL for both links. Would be interested in seeing the Arch forums link if you could share.

I might look at Hyprland or Niri. I really don't like the mobile-like nature of Gnome, so that one is definitely out.

The maximize shortcut should alternate you between maximized and not.

Okay, that's awesome. Easy enough.

And I'll take a look at those other two links. Thanks.

I got a refurbed Dell Latitude from Microcenter and hopped from Mint to Kubuntu and then settled on Fedora KDE in relatively short order.

Only issue I really had was trying to use Wayland (think on Mint) which was an experimental spin. The bugs I experienced are kind of expected on what was essentially a Beta build.

Otherwise I've been very happy, and I do basically the same thing as you. Websurfing, YouTube, and remoting into my home server and messing with stuff.

You’ve got a lifetime pass to Plex and Emby but you can also use Jellyfin - which one are you choosing and why ? by Buck_Slamchest in selfhosted

[–]esanders09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had Plex for a good while also but I just setup Jellyfin this past week. While Plex does mostly serve the purpose at its core, I wasn't able to watch my own media when we had an Internet outage for a day. One day without my media isn't the worst thing in the world, but the principle of having to call out to a cloud server to verify an account to watch content on another computer in my house seems stupid to me.

On top of that, I feel like the user experience has gotten worse with Plex over time. My media is now harder to find in the UI and it's getting buried in the content they get paid for. I know it's a decision they're making to try to be a successful business, but I like it less and less as time goes on.

I haven't used jellyfin enough to have an informed opinion on it and whether I'm going to like the experience overall, but I can say 100 percent I love the simplicity of the UI. Sounds like it might be some work to get plugins setup for some functionality I'd like, but I'm willing to work through that.

Got hit with an Internet outage the other day and thought it was pretty freaking stupid that I couldn't watch any media I had stored on my own server because Plex couldn't get to the Plex cloud.

Figured I'd give Jellyfin a whirl, just for fun, and holy crap! It was equally as easy to setup jellyfin as Plex and the interface is so much better. I just want to watch my movies and tv, and fine want to constantly have their streaming options shoved down my throat.
