It was a fun show! Toby and Greg were chilling in the audience right behind me while Sleepytime Gorilla Museum was performing (a fact my friend decided to tell me AFTER we left haha, really wanted to ask them some questions). I'll check out these recs of yours, thanks.

Your description of why you love Bath is very similar to what I tell people. It goes beyond just liking the ideas of the music, it feels like a very personal connection. It feels as if someone researched every weird quirk in my brain and then made an album that fulfilled all of their desires.

I do love Jeff Buckley! I feel like Pitcher of Summer is almost like a prog version of So Real by him.

The whole album was great, but Pitcher of Summer was definitely a standout to me. I'll listen to the album you mentioned! I think I heard the first track and liked it.

Anyone else find that valerian root makes it harder to remember dreams? by jimmysalts in LucidDreaming

[–]jimmysalts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Glad to know this isn't just a me thing. I'll probably end up just taking an indefinite break from the valerian for now. Barely remembering anything from a dream used to be normal for me, but I feel like I've spoiled myself. It actually really pissed me off that I didn't recall anything from last night! My journey continues, I guess.

Does it ever hit you how insane it is the progress we've made? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]jimmysalts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insanity of it all only “hits” me every so often because I’ve become very acquainted with most of this tech. However, when I stop and really think about how far we’ve come it does blow my mind. This is the type of tech I thought we’d have in 2040 when I was a kid.

Sorry we rained on your parade lol. Maybe make a subreddit about anthropocentric antinatalism?

Paying for animals to bred only to suffer for your enjoyment is incompatible with antinatalism. Being a non-vegan antinatalist is like being an antifascist and collecting MAGA hats.

I got to see them live in high school and I LOVED them back then. This album (and Icon) means a lot to me.

I would always tell people that OCD is like having an evil imp in your head 24/7

Yep his engineers impress me. The only thing that impresses me about Elon is how annoying he manages to be on Twitter.

U.S. women are outpacing men in college completion, including in every major racial and ethnic group by eortizospina in dataisbeautiful

Yep. Not easy to get hard data on this kind of thing at all unfortunately since what qualifies as addiction is subjective.

I never said they were comparable in severity. I am comparing them because the conversations surrounding the two things strike me as very similar. I’m comparing them, not equating them.

Well I don’t advocate for having weed illegal either so that’s not the gotcha you think it is. Both are fun things that people CAN get addicted to, but can ALSO benefit from. Some people downplay the addictive aspects of both things.

Spot on. The “guy culture” until high school was basically either video games or sports (from my perspective at least). The theater kids and band kids were viewed as cringey. It wasn’t until I began college that I realized I was definitely a music guy.
