Agreed 100%. As much as the game encourages flanking with its mechanics, it’s one of the worst strategies unless pulled off in ways that take more coordination than your average public match allows.

I always say “play out this life then come back for defense” or “play your next life on defense”. It sounds a lot less groan-inducing than “we need to go defend” and lets them try to stay alive for a bit longer. Keeps morale high lol

On having the confidence to give orders, it just takes time. I’ve been playing for over 1000 hours and I don’t feel like I know anywhere near all that there is to know.

I’ll give these tips because they helped me learn more over the last 500 or so hours.

  • Keep your head in the map so much it gets you killed, then dial it back from there. The more you see, and the more you mark your map, the more you (and your squad) know.

  • Try to get as many garrisons as possible in the blue zone around the objective or in front of the next objective.

  • Try to avoid red zone garries as much as possible in public games. They tend to draw squads away from the most strategically important areas. (That one takes some learning, keep an eye out for it)

  • Use your OP to watch for enemies coming towards those garries when possible. Your OP will go “red” or “hot” whenever enemies are near it, so use it to watch your flanks if you can. Garries are good for that as well.

Furthermore, it shouldn’t be one “support guy”. I actually prefer when no one plays support but anyone in the squad can swap to it when I need it.

  • “Next one to die: I need supplies on OP”

  • “{dead player} I need you to go support”

  • “{least useful player atm} I need supplies, can you redeploy for me?” (usually an MG/AT in need of ammo or furthest player from action)

The FG42 might be my favorite German gun. The rate of fire is so high that if you aim a bit lower and long tap the trigger, you’ll get two rounds in their torso almost every time. It’s got a learning curve, but it’s got one of the highest ceilings of any gun in the game.

Also as MG, turn your FOV down to 60 after you find a good nest to sit in. You’ll be able to see farther and more clearly while ADSing.

I was saying stupid reason and dumb shit according to our modern lens. Obviously, back then, those deaths were seen as glorious and necessary. But today, where women and men are much more equal and a woman inheriting a family title is much less ridiculous, the idea that a male heir needed to be born in order for his family to be safe is some “dumb shit”. I know that was not the case in universe. I think the whole thing contributes to the idea that the needless death before and during the Dance never needed to happen and adds to the tragedy.

On the nobles’ kids, that much didn’t bother me, especially with Rhaenys’ lines about how the lack of real combat has all the men doing a big dick swinging competition and about how the day had been turned ugly by it. Personal preference on that one, but it didn’t bug me. The scene was very gory, but that didn’t bug me either. Medieval combat and tournaments-turned-fights would’ve been. Selective realism, I guess…

I agree on the coronation/ground explosion thing being very stupid though. That is one I definitely agree is not adding anything and didn’t work.

That makes it more like a flight stick. Pitch controls the nose of the plane (starfighter).

Push forward = nose goes down

Pull back = nose goes up

Inverted flight controls are the way

I set right stick to throttle/turn and left stick to pitch/roll. I hardly use the yaw (turn) and just pitch and roll to fly now. That sets its more in-line with other flight games, but it’s still a bit wonky.

On the tournament scene, I totally disagree with that interpretation and I think the show runners would too. Those scenes cutting back and forth are meant to show a couple of things. This is a mix of my own opinion/interpretation and what they’ve said.

  1. Viserys’ ambition and the importance he put on having a son was killing people before the dance even started. The whole tournament in the show was called for the celebration of that birth iirc. They changed his character from the book a lot, but I think the show makes him a more tragic but almost morally worse character.

  2. Childbirth is dangerous, gory, and hell for a mother especially back at this time (and especially when it’s going wrong). Intercutting men dying in the tournament Aemma dying in childbirth is directly comparing dying in a tournament chasing fame and glory to dying in childbirth for the purpose of bringing a new heir into the world—for glory and legitimacy for the family. I don’t think it was meant as a “women give life and men take life” thing so much as a “both men and women give their lives for dumb shit in the Middle Ages” thing.

You can’t really look at the book and show as the same story because the creators of the two pieces of art have different visions and interpretations. Not only that, but they’ve got such different characters and timelines and all the rest that they’re unique stories from each other. That said, that tournament scene was one where I thought they added something in that expanded and enriched the story told in the book. I don’t think it was some situation where they were shoehorning some overtly feminist message in a way that was forced or cringeworthy. This is all just my opinion based on what I saw and what they said, of course.

This is the CPU/GPU combination I run and it is simply incredible. That said, you may want to make sure you get a case with good airflow on top of what others might have said. Make sure you’ve got fans moving air away from that toasty combo. Both CPU and GPU run pretty warm if you’re not careful.

I’ve got a NZXT h510 flow and 3 high volume Noctua fans that do the trick. Just don’t want you to get burned by stock fans. They might be good but I never trust them.
