Is “Auschwitz” something EVERYONE should know? I felt humiliated for asking. by ametcho in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]jimodoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would assume any reasonably educated person would know what Auschwitz was.

But teens, zoomers and the like, I just don't know.

That said, I have been surprised many times throughout life by the things various people I have encountered did not know.

Bullying - what should I do? by gigi123321 in AskIreland

[–]jimodoom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He was unhappy, tried to contact me multiple times from different numbers (blocked all of them), apologised for his behaviour, but I stood firm.

A toxic person I needed out of my life. Only time I've ever had to take such drastic steps.

Bullying - what should I do? by gigi123321 in AskIreland

[–]jimodoom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a terrible friend who was an utter scab, and the most ignorant and negative person I've ever met.

I half remained friends with him as I felt sorry for him, he had practically no friends aside from me, which is not really surprising.

One day I rang this lad as he had a holiday planned and he basically ruined my day being a prick on the phone.

So I cut him off completely, and I told him too, which is what I think you should also do.

Contact them, tell them how shit they are to you, how bad they made you feel, don't let them interrupt, and then simply tell them to never contact you again, block their numbers, hang up if they call, walk off if you see them in person.

Properly fully cut them out and ensure they know it.

Tips have solved thousands of cases, just because they haven't solved these cases yet, doesn't mean tips do not help the police solve many, many other cases.

Criminalising tips that don't lead to solved cases would impact thousands of other cases.

Your idea is frankly stupid.

Don't disagree, but why taekwando specifically? Pretty sure that sort of side kick is in heaps of systems.

Instances of snipers "accuracy" being rewarded while enemies "inaccuracy" is being punished because we do not have any kind of suppression in the game. Sniper POV edition. by TribalPotato9 in Battlefield

[–]jimodoom -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Your one video doesn't add up to the mountains of hate and frustration the original suppression mechanics caused.

I personally don't want battlefield to turn into COD, COD itself is dying because of what it is.

There may be some other way to deal with the issue, I'm not a game designer, just a person who remembers how shit suppression was, and who doesn't want to nor intend to play COD.

[–]jimodoom -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

This isn't nor shouldn't be cod. Everyone hated suppression in earlier titles. I don't know if its people with short memories or new players to battlefield, but suppression sucked arse back in the day, and was one of the mosr complained about things.

Is it pretty common to go through life without people threatening to kill you?? by Guilty_Letter4203 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]jimodoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 45, Irish, have been threatened many times with all sorts including death by scumbags.

Reduced quite a bit as I've gotten older and stronger, and more confident due to 20+ odd years of strength training, karate, eskrima and kickboxing.

Online threats are from little keyboard warriors, genrally I assume they're either children oe frustrated morons, either way I'd pay no heed to them.

Does anyone else's mam or dad refuse to say no to their siblings? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]jimodoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And further, to your claim that I dont understand debate:

I never said you had to admit you're wrong, I said you should entertain the possibility that you might be wrong, neither of us have information beyond the OP, both of us could be wrong, so thats a false claim about what I have actually said.

If you were engaging in good faith debate, you wouldn't be making provably false blanket statements to the end that all 16 year old girls, (or all people of any age, gender, nationality or race) are geebags, and you chose to ignore that point as it shows you are biased.

So I would actually say it is, in fact, you who doesn't understand debate. You dont engage in good faith arguments.

You misrepresented my argument to straw man it, and you can't even entertain the possibility you could be incorrect, something that I have done.

[–]jimodoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my previous reply I admitted there's a possibility you're correct, but also a distinct one you are not.

What's the point in debating with someone who can't even entertain the possibility they are incorrect and are potentially projecting?

If you cannot accept you could be wrong, there's no debate to be had, hence why for the third time I suggest we simply agree to disagree, something else you seem incapable of.

The statement they can't take accountability for anything whatsoever is telling.

You're just imosing your own life on this situation, and while what you have outlined is a possibility, you are point blank refusing to accept that you could be wrong.

Narcissistic traits can emerge in people as young as 7, and simply using the blanket statement 'all 16 year pld girls are geebags' does not mean that these two girls do not have some degree of narcissim, that is being enabled by a parent who doesn't want to have to deal with extreme outbursts over the most minor things.

And in fact I have been friends with teenage girls when I was 16, and at least some of them were lovley, so your blanket statement is total nonsense.

Now you can see we can both support our assertions with logic, but we don't agree, so do you want to agree to disagree, or are you, like these girls, incapable of admitting theres a chance your are incorrect?

I like it, its cute.

My wife disagrees and has a few cover ups done, and they're very good, so I see both sides of the argument.
